ENGINE
2024 GMC Yukon, L87 6.2L V8 VIN: [XXX] This complaint concerns the L87 6.2L engine and NHTSA Engineering Analysis EA26005 regarding engine failure following the remedy for Recall 25V-274. My vehicle underwent the GM recall inspection, including the Pico test, and passed the inspection. The engine was therefore not replaced. Since completion of that inspection, I have continued to obtain abnormal used-oil-analysis results showing excessive and increasing engine wear metals. At the most recent oil change, I cut open the engine oil filter and found visible metallic swarf/debris embedded in the filter media. I have retained the oil filter media and have photographs documenting the metallic debris. I also have the previous oil-analysis reports documenting the wear-metal trend. The engine has now developed a loud knocking noise. Because of the knocking noise, documented abnormal wear metals, and visible metallic debris in the oil filter, I no longer consider the vehicle safe to operate due to the possibility of sudden engine failure and loss of propulsion. The significant concern is that this vehicle passed GM's Recall 25V-274 screening procedure but appears to be developing the same type of internal engine deterioration that the recall was intended to identify and prevent. I am requesting that NHTSA associate this complaint with Engineering Analysis EA26005 and review this case as a possible post-remedy failure of the Recall 25V-274 inspection procedure. Supporting evidence available includes: • Used-oil-analysis reports showing excessive and increasing wear metals • Photographs of metallic debris/swarf in the oil filter media • Retained oil filter and filter media • Dealer repair and recall records • Mileage and oil-change records • Current loud engine knocking noise The vehicle is presently not being driven because of the potential for engine seizure or sudden loss of propulsion. ENGINE
My 2024 GMC Yukon Denali has experienced repeated and serious stalling, restart hesitation, shutdown, and loss-of-propulsion issues that have created an ongoing safety concern for me, my children, and other drivers. On one occasion, while I was actively driving with my children in the vehicle, the Yukon completely lost propulsion and died. I was only able to coast/roll the vehicle to a complete stop because it no longer had power. I previously reported that incident to NHTSA. Since then, there have been numerous additional occasions when I have been driving and come to a stop at a traffic light, stop sign, or in traffic and the vehicle has stalled or seriously hesitated before restarting. On September 23, 2026, while driving with my children in the vehicle, I stopped at a red light in heavy traffic. Without warning, the vehicle completely shut off, shifted into neutral, and displayed a message instructing me to restart the vehicle. I had to manually restart the Yukon before I could continue driving. This was the first time while stopped that the vehicle completely shut off, went into neutral, and required a manual restart. During these incidents, my children were in the vehicle and I was surrounded by other vehicles and heavy traffic, creating a serious safety concern. GMC has been repeatedly notified about these issues. Despite multiple complaints and prior repair attempts, the problems have continued and GMC has not provided a meaningful resolution. The cause of the most recent failure is currently unknown.

ENGINE
After having the recall inspection completed and changing to the recommended higher grade of motor oil, 0W40, my engine failed while driving on a major highway. We were traveling at high speed on a busy highway when the engine failed and the Yukon shifted into neutral leaving me little time to pull off the road. When the failure occurred the Yukon shifted itself into neutral and a message appeared telling me to press start again. I was able to get to the side of the roadway and called the State Police for assistance. Six of us stood on the Side of this major highway for 90 minutes waiting for a tow truck. Since the incident the engine has been replaced by the dealer but I am concerned that this may happen again. After the recall inspection they tell you that you are ok but clearly you are not, you are still in danger.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
2024 GMC Yukon intermittently experiences complete loss of audio while driving. During the failure, all audio sources stop working, including radio/music and incoming hands-free telephone audio. During a phone call, the other party can hear me, but I cannot hear them through the vehicle. When this failure occurs, the audible turn-signal click/clack also does not work. In addition, the audible blind-spot warning does not sound. The visual indicators continue to function, but the associated audible warnings are lost. The condition is intermittent but persistent and can last 30+minutes. GM has issued a technical service bulletin addressing loss of audio together with loss of the turn-signal click/clack on 2023–2024 GMC Yukons. I am concerned that this is a safety-related defect because the audio-system failure results in the loss of audible driver warnings while the vehicle is being operated.

Our Yukon was taken in for the recall. Dealer did the test and said it passed and used different oil. My wife and kids were driving to [XXX] from [XXX] yesterday. As they exited the highway, the car began acting weird. Then the car completely died. It was towed due to error code P0016. Dealer said they are going to put a new engine in. I saw online that cars with replacement engines were failing too? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ENGINE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN
Issues with the google voice, transmission issues, engine failure to start or restart. Reported same year vehicle was bought. Repeatedly. Dealership even with video evidence stated could not repeat issue and nothing wrong. My car then starts rattling in the engine and they do a full replacement had it for over three months. Now it’s leaking fluid and smoking. They try to send the consumer away and delay delay until the warranty is over. Unethical practices. They knew there was an issue with my engine as it was on the recall list but kept denying any issues until complete failure. Now less than 20 days after that repair the car is leaking and smoking.

ENGINE
My 2024 GMC Yukon Denali equipped with the 6.2L L87 V8 experienced an engine failure on July 4, 2026. Prior to the failure, there was no visible damage, warning, or other evidence that the engine was about to fail. I drove the vehicle to purchase fireworks and shut the vehicle off normally when I arrived. When I returned to the vehicle after shopping, the engine problem became apparent. There had been no noticeable indication of an engine failure before I turned the vehicle off. The vehicle was subsequently taken to a GM dealership, where the engine failure was confirmed and ultimately required replacement of the 6.2L L87 engine. The vehicle remained out of service from July 4, 2026, until it was returned to me on August 21, 2026. The original failed engine was in the possession of the servicing GM dealership I purchased the car from. Not even 8 months later of purchase the vehicle needed a 3rd engine (original, recalled engine, warranty engine). The lack of warning before the failure is a significant safety concern to me. The vehicle had been operating immediately before I parked it, and there were no apparent symptoms that would have alerted me that a major engine failure was imminent. Had the failure occurred while the vehicle was traveling at highway speed or in traffic, the sudden loss of engine operation could have created a dangerous situation. The failure was confirmed by the GM dealership and resulted in replacement of the L87 6.2L V8 engine. I am submitting this complaint to document the failure and because of continuing concerns regarding the L87 6.2L V8 and the effectiveness and long-term reliability of the recall remedy. I am still currently waiting for the repair work documentation for the new (assuming it was new) motor. I have attached attempts to talk to GM, app incidents, repair work being completed.

ENGINE
Hello, I own a 2024 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.2L V8. Car currently has 35,000 miles on it. At about 30,000 miles we started to feel a very aggressive vibration in the passanger seat, as well as the 2nd row seats, and driver seat. We took the vehicle in for the recall on the engine where we were instructed to put 0W-40 oil in. Much higher vescocity. After we did this recall the vehicle has not stopped shaking. We went for another service visit in July where we were told " this is the engine pistons trying to conserve fuel, and are firing causing the vibration." I have worked in the auto industry for 12 years, this is not a normal vibration. This should also not be caused by an engine. We then took it in again where they then proceeded to replace fuel manifold on August 18th. The vehicle shakes a bit less but still has a aggressive shake to it. I do not believe this is normal and if it is the engine pistons firing or the crank shafts misfiring, this could cause the engine to have catistrophic failure. This shake happens at speeds anywhere from 18 MPH to 50 MPH. My concern is with my wife and kids in this vehicle as the daily driver and this engine fails.

ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2024 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at approximately 45–50 MPH, the vehicle stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The driver pulled over to the side of the road, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it remained for five weeks before being diagnosed. The dealer determined that the engine was blown and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Action Number: EA25007 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 63,073.

ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
This is a supplemental report to my original complaint (NHTSA ID XXX) regarding my 2024 GMC Yukon (VIN [XXX]). I am providing additional detail: prior to GM's recall being issued, I contacted Hatchett Buick GMC by phone and visited in person on multiple occasions reporting engine sputtering, stalling, hesitation, and total loss of power and electrical shutdown while driving. I was repeatedly told these were minor issues not affecting anyone and not to worry about them. As a result, the vehicle was not formally serviced for these issues until September 2025 — roughly three months after the recall was finally announced, more than a year after I purchased the vehicle. Since that recall repair and a subsequent "best guess" repair performed by GM technicians (their own description, not mine), the vehicle continues to sputter, hesitate, stall, and intermittently lose power. I have ongoing safety concerns driving this vehicle INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ENGINE
The 6.2 GMC engine has been replaced. I took my Yukon in for a oil change, on the second engine, the tech said that it now has a new oil synthetic 0-40, and I have to have the oil changed every 3 thousand miles. I checked with a couple of mechanics and they all said, synthetic is good for at least 5 thousand miles, and just thicker oil will not solve the engine problems that have plagued GM. I am bringing this to your attention as these vehicles are pretty much worthless in the marketplace, and as such GM should refund or exchange for the 2027, with the new motors.

ENGINE
The engine began knocking on startup and on acceleration. The vehicle would sometimes have difficulty accelerating. Upon taking it to the dealership, they were able to duplicate the issue. Upon inspection by the dealership, 2 rod bearings had spun and caused crankshaft damage. The manufacturer approved a full engine replacement under the warranty. There were no warnings lights, messages, or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the first incident.

ENGINE
I have a 2024 GMC Yukon Denali equipped with the 6.2L L87 V8 engine. The vehicle has approximately 23,000 miles. The vehicle previously underwent the remedy associated with the L87 engine recall. The engine now uses SAE 0W-40 dexos R oil and has the corresponding 0W-40 oil fill cap. After the recall remedy was performed, the check-engine warning light began intermittently FLASHING while I am driving. The light may flash for a period of time and then turn off again. I have also intermittently experienced the engine running rough or the vehicle shaking while idling. I have noticed the flashing warning light occurring while the engine is under load, including while driving uphill. I have video documenting the check-engine light flashing while the vehicle is being driven. Because the condition is intermittent, the warning light is not necessarily illuminated afterward. I am concerned because this vehicle is equipped with the L87 engine that was subject to GM recall N252494000/NHTSA Recall 25V-274 for potential engine damage/failure, and my vehicle appears to have already received the recall remedy. I understand NHTSA is currently investigating reports of L87 engine failures occurring after completion of that recall remedy. The cause of my vehicle's current symptoms is UNKNOWN and has not yet been diagnosed. The vehicle is available for inspection. I am filing this complaint because an intermittently flashing check-engine warning, rough/shaking operation, and the possibility of an engine malfunction or loss of propulsion present a safety concern, particularly if an engine failure occurs while the vehicle is being driven. I do have an appointment with a different GMC dealership for next week instead of the GMC dealership that sold it to me and preformed the original fix.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On August 6, 2026, I was driving my family up to Whitefish Mountain Resort (a steep mountain road to a ski resort) for dinner when the ESC warning and "Brake System Failure" warning appeared. I immediately attempted to pull safely to the side of the road. When I pressed the brake pedal, the vehicle did not respond normally. I pushed the brake pedal as far down as I could and had essentially no braking ability. Because we were traveling uphill, the vehicle eventually rolled to a stop. When my brother came with his car he had a vehicle scanning tool. He hooked my vehicle up to it and the tool displayed diagnostic codes P25A2 and P3499. This was an extremely serious safety event. Had we been traveling downhill, approaching an intersection, or driving in heavier traffic, the outcome could have been catastrophic.

STRUCTURE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2024 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that there was a strong mildew odor coming from the vehicle while entering the vehicle, and there was moisture around the trunk near the wiring harness. The vehicle was taken to Modern Auto Company (6224 MO-100, Washington, MO 63090), but the cause of the failure was not found. O'Fallon Buick GMC (2150 Technology Dr, O'Fallon, MO 63368) diagnosed the vehicle with a failure of the wiring harness and stated that there was moisture entering the vehicle through the wiring harness. However, after the contact inquired about the odor inside the vehicle, the dealer refused to continue working with the contact. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a claim was filed, and an appointment was scheduled for service at Dave Sinclair Buick GMC (5655 S Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63123). The dealer informed the contact that the wiring harness appeared to have already been replaced. The dealer found no leaks inside the vehicle and informed the contact that the vehicle would be returned. The contact hired a mold expert to inspect the vehicle while the vehicle was at the dealer. The mold expert discovered several cases of toxic mold inside the vehicle and deemed the vehicle unsafe to drive. The contact stated that her daughter had severe respiratory issues and was transported in the vehicle. The daughter had several doctor’s visits, was put on several medications, and missed 40 days from school due to her illness. The contact associated the failure with her daughter's illness and stated that her daughter’s health improved once she was no longer transported in the vehicle. Since the failure, the contact had to pay out-of-pocket for a rental vehicle. A field investigator had been hired by the manufacturer to inspect the vehicle, and the contact was awaiting the results. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I am reporting a serious safety defect and unreasonable delay in addressing it under safety recall N252494000 (L87 Engine – Loss of Propulsion). My GMC Yukon has an illuminated check engine light and is now also overheating. According to GM’s own customer service r, this can lead to knocking, unusual engine noises, hesitation, high RPMs, abnormal shifting, reduced propulsion, and sudden loss of propulsion while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. I have contacted multiple dealerships for urgent repair: Cappllino GMC Keller Chevrolet Joe Basil All three have advised me that they do not have enough technicians to get my vehicle in for repair. Each has urged me to continue driving the vehicle despite the active check engine light and recall, and all have refused to provide a loaner vehicle. I have also contacted GMC Corporate directly for intervention. Instead of providing a loaner or expediting repairs, they have only offered post-repair rental reimbursement (up to $44/day after a repair order is opened). This leaves me with no safe transportation option. I have been told I can “drop off” the vehicle, but I have no alternative way to get home or to work. GMC and its dealerships are putting my safety (and the safety of other road users) at serious risk by directing me to continue operating a recalled, overheating vehicle with an active check engine light while refusing to provide any loaner or timely repair. My vehicle has 34,700 miles and is nearing the end of its warranty coverage, which raises additional concerns about potential delay tactics. Please review: The L87 engine defect and related check engine/overheating issues in GMC Yukons. GMC’s handling of this recall, including widespread failure to provide loaners and instructions to customers to keep driving defective vehicles. I authorize the release of my contact information to GMC to assist with the investigation. Attachments I can provide: Screenshots of communications with GMC
