The 6.2L engine died at 8,300 miles. It took the dealership 6 weeks and would not give me a repurchase lease buyback. They put a new engine in, but I’m hearing that they didn’t really fix the problem and this is just a new version.

At approximately 9,000 miles and 9 months of ownership, both front wheelhouse liners on my 2025 GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali Ultimate permanently deformed and sagged into the front tire clearance area. The truck is completely stock, including the factory wheels, tires, suspension, and ride height. No modifications have been made that would affect tire-to-wheelhouse clearance. The condition occurred during approximately four hours of highway towing at approximately 65 MPH while pulling a travel trailer weighing approximately 12,000 pounds. Ambient temperature was approximately 105 - 114°F and side winds were approximately 20 MPH. Both front wheelhouse liners became visibly deformed and sagged downward toward the tires. Both liners now contact the factory front tires during normal steering, particularly during tighter low-speed turns such as parking-lot maneuvers. On the driver's side, repeated tire contact has worn completely through the wheelhouse liner, leaving a hole and exposing components behind the liner. I temporarily tied the driver's-side liner back to reduce further tire contact, but because the liner has permanently lost its original molded shape, tire interference can still occur during tight turns. The passenger-side liner has not been tied back or otherwise modified and shows similar deformation and tire interference. There was no collision, road-debris impact, tire failure, or other known event that caused the damage. The vehicle was being operated normally and towing a load appropriate for a GMC Sierra 3500HD. I am reporting this as a potential safety defect because the factory wheelhouse liners have deformed sufficiently to contact rotating front tires on an unmodified vehicle. Continued contact could potentially damage a tire or surrounding components and may affect safe vehicle operation. Photographs document the deformation, tire-contact area, hole worn through the driver's-side liner, and similar deformation of the passenger-side liner.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the transmission was previously replaced. The contact stated that 20,000 miles later, the vehicle started to experience erratic hard shifting while driving at various speeds, and the vehicle failed to respond upon shifting into reverse(R). The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the battery was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (Power Train). The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, where it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact was advised that the repair was not covered under the extended warranty coverage associated with the recall because the required DTC was not retrieved. The contact advised the dealer to complete the TCM software update under the recall, which would enable the generation of warning lights and DTC. After several attempts, the dealer informed the contact that the TCM software update was unsuccessful. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone and email, a case was filed, and documents were sent to the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

On September 29, 2026, I was driving my GMC Sierra 1500 on the highway at approximately 15 mph due to construction when the truck suddenly lost acceleration. Engine warning messages appeared, the vehicle automatically shifted into neutral, and the engine completely shut off while I was driving. A message instructed me to restart the engine. I attempted to restart it, and the truck eventually turned back on, although it was difficult to start. I was able to carefully drive the vehicle home. This was extremely concerning because the sudden loss of propulsion and engine shutdown occurred while I was on a highway and could have caused a serious accident, especially at normal highway speeds or in heavier traffic. I took the truck to Cavender GMC on September 30, 2026, for inspection and diagnosis. Still pending on results. I am especially concerned because there are ongoing NHTSA investigations, consumer complaints, and litigation involving certain General Motors vehicles and reported engine failures that can result in sudden loss of propulsion. Some reported incidents involving GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles describe symptoms similar to what happened to my truck, including loss of acceleration, shifting into neutral, engine shutdown, warning messages, and the need to restart the vehicle. I understand that my truck may not necessarily be affected by the same issue or included in any lawsuit. However, because of the similarities, I am requesting that GMC and Cavender GMC thoroughly investigate whether this incident is related to any known engine, powertrain, electrical, software, or safety issue affecting this vehicle. I am requesting that the underlying cause be identified and properly repaired before the vehicle is considered safe to return to service. My primary concern is safety, and I need confidence that the truck will not unexpectedly lose propulsion, shift into neutral, or shut off again while I am driving.

- #11768724October 3, 2026SUSPENSION, STRUCTURE:BODY, STEERING
Vehicle Safety Hazard Summary: This complaint concerns an incomplete, non-compliant post-collision structural repair on a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 (VIN: [XXX]). It has resulted in immediate vehicle tracking failure, dangerous steering drift, and a compromised cabin safety cage following a passenger-side side-impact collision. 1. Severe Suspension and Tracking Misalignment • Electronic Alignment Failure: The post-repair electronic wheel alignment documents a Rear Thrust Angle of 0.17°. General Motors OEM specifications require a maximum allowable thrust angle of 0.10° or less for this 4WD Crew Cab chassis. The system printed a critical warning: "One or more values are not within specification. Tire wear, handling and safety problems may result." • Physical Wheelbase Displacement: Physical cross-measurements confirm a 1.25-inch tracking variance between the rear wheel wells. This proves the solid rear axle has shifted along the leaf springs due to a sheared centering pin or a bent axle/spindle assembly. • Road Hazard Handling: The truck exhibits a severe right-hand steering drift. The driver must hold the steering wheel significantly off-center to prevent the vehicle from pulling off the road. This creates an immediate risk of control loss during highway driving, sudden avoidance maneuvers, or wet weather. 2. Compromised Cabin Structure and Latch Failure • Structural Binding: The facility performed an outer B-pillar sectioning repair. Upon delivery, the B-pillar door check bracket was left un-torqued. When this structural hardware is torqued to factory specifications, the passenger door binds severely against the cab shell and will not latch or close without being violently slammed. This mechanical binding confirms the underlying inner high-strength steel pillars remain deformed, compromising side-impact and rollover crashworthiness. The vehicle is mechanically out of safe operating specifications, and the repair facility refuses to perform further corrections INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

Engine failure. My engine is near failure, loud knocking, check engine light and trusted repair shop analyzed. The repair diagnosis is that the engine will fail in the very near future and that is not safe to drive because of risk of failure. I like the truck and it is still in great condition (129k miles). So, I search for recall information and see the 6.2L 2021-2024 recall and see there is additional investigation underway on newer models. Is it possible it goes back to the redesign of the pick-up in 2019? It sounds like the same issue.

The powertrain/transmission is malfunctioning. The vehicle shutters, vibrates, and surges forward when coming to a stop, as if it wants to take off on its own. These symptoms began within the first couple of days after purchasing the vehicle on XXX. The valve body was replaced, but the issue continues. The vehicle is available for inspection. GM Case Number: XXX Dealership TAC Case: XXX This creates a serious safety risk. When stopping, the truck shutters and unexpectedly tries to lunge forward, which could cause a collision with another vehicle or pedestrian. The unpredictable movement makes it dangerous at intersections, stop signs, and in traffic. The dealership has reproduced the issue multiple times and performed diagnostics, but the shuttering and surging continue. The vehicle was last inspected around XXX. On XXX, I called GM to speak with [XXX] for an update on when a GM representative/technician would inspect the truck. I was told the case had been closed even though no resolution or inspection occurred, and [XXX] never called me back. No other agencies have inspected it. There were no warning lamps. Symptoms began within days of purchase and include shuttering, vibration, surging forward when stopping, and inconsistent acceleration. These symptoms occur daily and have worsened over time. Received Re-Call for Engine Failure! Dealer replaced Engine Oil and Oil Cap @ 85,544 Miles. I read of the Re-call prior to the notice and I waited for it to come. After I received it and the Dealer made the changes, it made me afraid to leave town using my truck for fear of a breakdown on the Freeway. I use a Walker, so if I broke down and I was in the left lane and lost all power it would be very dangerous for me to get to the right side of the road! The truck started using excessive Oil after they changed the oil. I replaced four (4) quarts of oil @ 2526 miles! Speedometer reading 88070 miles.
