On [XXX] while driving 80mph on Westbound [XXX] , just West of the [XXX] exit, my engine simply quit. I was able to navigate it to the side of the highway to avoid traffic. However I could not restart the engine or subsequently get it out of Park gear. I got a notice "Conditions Not Correct for Shift." I was forced to use Onstar to get the truck towed back to the original dealership, Quebedeaux Buick/GMC in Tucson, Arizona. The next day, Monday, I went to the dealership to find out what happened to my truck. They said they would call me with results. They never did. The next day, Tuesday, I still hadn't received a call. I returned to the dealership to ask what had happened. They informed me the engine had thrown a bearing and it would need a total engine replacement. It would take 1-2 months. I'm now on day 4 of not having a vehicle, I've called the dealership every day to try to get a loaner vehicle, and they keep telling me they're working on it. The truck only has 36k miles on it and is still covered by warranty, but I feel like I'm getting the runaround from both the dealership and customer service. I still do not have a loaner vehicle. While my husband was driving on the NJ Turnpike at 65 mph, his truck just shut off!! . This was very dangerous, he had to try to get over from the left lane, all the way to the shoulder and park the truck. How has this not been taken care of yet? This needs to be looked into, he could have been in an accident. GMC is aware of this problem but has not recalled these trucks. Please make this known to the public, this is very dangerous!! To add insult to injury, we now are told that we have to pay to replace the engine and the truck is less than 2 years old. How is that right? The warranty is out (60k miles warranty) because my husbands drives a lot of highway miles (80k on truck) to and from work so they say it will cost us $9,000 dollars to replace. Since we still have payments on our truck, we have no choice but to get it repaired. Knowing this is an issue and it should be recalled, this is wrong! I am concerned this will happen again, if they replace it with the same engine. Please help!

Had water leaking into cab of truck. First incident they stated it was a rear window seal and it was "repaired" under warranty. Second incident I was advised it was body panel separation where the cab roof and side body seam was leaking. It was repaired by sealing with "body seam sealer." I later read these repairs should have been welded. This was after the warranty expired and I had to pay for it. I then read on the Silverado/Sierra forum this repair should have been a weld not just "glued" is this a safety issue?

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while driving at 15 MPH going into an intersection, another vehicle going at approximately 5 MPH, crossed in front of the contact. There were no warning lights illuminated. As a result, the vehicle impacted the other driver on the driver-side front and back door, where it came to a stop. None of the air bags deployed. The contact suffered injuries to his lower back, legs, and a bump on the head with a bruise. The contact's aunt suffered injuries to her back and hip. The contact's uncle's back suffered injuries to his right or left arm; the contact was unsure. The contact and his family member had to have physical therapy due to injuries suffered by a chiropractor. It was unknown if the other passengers in the other vehicle sustained any injuries. There was no property damage. A police report was filed however, the contact does not remember the police report information. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and was repaired. The contact stated he then received an unknown NHTSA notification for the air bags. The contact stated that after the accident sensors on the vehicle malfunctioned, and it has the air bag warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where recall repairs were completed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

"NHTSA campaign: 19V645000 AS the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash." Our vehicle was serviced and repaired for this problem under the recall on 9/6/2019, however, it is now happening again. Is there a second recall for this problem, and/or what can be done to remedy the defective equipment?

I had to replace my transmission at 71902 miles. I complained to Flow GMC dealership over seven times about the Vibration , jerking, shaking and shuddering. Most of the time when I carried they said they can not duplicate the problem. On Feb. 05, 2025 I was driving and stopped at a stop light when I pulled off the vehicle started vibrating, shaking and had a hard jerk. I thought someone had ran in the back of me but that was not the case . I had it pulled in to Flow GMC they checked it out and said the transmission need to be replaced. I had it replaced at the dealership. I had to pay $7782 to get a new transmission. I read were they being are all on some GMC models. I want to know why the 2017 GMC has not been recalled.

Previous years of my truck with the Allison “branded” transmission have been reported to lock up while driving. From what I can gather there was a recall. Instead of fixing the issues with the transmission a program was installed to put the transmission in limp mode during the failure. My model, a 2023 apparently came with the limp mode feature already installed. When my transmission failed it took the truck out of gear and locked up for a moment before I could safely pull over.

Transmission has a bad vibration at low RPMs under acceleration as well as slipping and hard shifts. A few times the transmission has locked up the briefly. It also runs very hot between 180 and 249 degrees. Have been researching this when I came across all the problems and recalls however nothing listed for my VIN

2020 GMC Sierra "Denali" 6.2L engine with only 64,000 all original well maintained at miles -- NO prior issues no unusual sounds or indications of any issues. Vehicle has had timely maintenance regularly. engine lost power and began shuddering severely. Immediately taken to GM certified dealership upon which charged almost $1600.00 for engine analysis. Diagnosis is cylinder # 5 had lifter collapse which in turn ruined the camshaft. Will have to wait 4 weeks for parts and since GM power train warranty (conveniently) only covers first 60,000 miles the total engine rebuild is out of my pocket. Total price $9,741.11. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND GM NEEDS TO REPAIR OR REIMBURSE EVERY SINGLE OWNER THAT EXPERIENCES THIS ISSUE IN FULL. I think GM knew about this issues and hopes it will go away but this really pisses me and SHOULD everyone else too.

I do not know if this qualifies as a safety concern, however based on everything I have read, I wanted to report the incident since you have 39 cases already. My 2019 GMC Sierra Denali w 6.2l engine, and 60,000 miles, starting tapping on April 10, 2025. I brought it to the local dealership the following day to diagnose. The dealer reported that they located metal in the oil pan/ filter and said the engine needed to be replaced. After more reading, it seems my truck is one of the vehicles with the 6.2l engine that is failing in countless numbers. In all fairness, I did not crash, the engine did not seize and it did not create a safety hazard in my incident, so i apologize if this reporting is a waste of your time. Now i have been given an invoice for over $10k to replace the engine which is on backorder nationwide I'm told due to the number of engine failures. Obviously it is out of 5 year 60K mile warranty so I have to eat the engine replacement.

WHILE TURNING INTO A BUISNESS FROM A HIGHWAY, THE LOW FUEL WARNING CAME ON EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK. UPON LEAVING THE BUISNESS, I STARTED THE TRUCK AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND THE ENGING STALLED. RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AGAIN AND IT STALLED AGAIN. RESTARTED AND TRIED GOING FORWARD AND IT RAN FINE. ABOUT 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE LOW FUEL WARNING CAME ON AGAIN AND THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. AT THIS POINT I REALIZED THAT THE DOORS HAD UNLOCKED AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES KEPT SWEEPING UP AND DOWN. I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. IT ACTED LIKE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. AFTER WATING SEVERAL SECONDS, I TRIED AGAIN AND THE ENGINE RESTARTED. I NOTED THE BATTERY VOLTAGE IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND IT WAS NORMAL. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. NO DTCS PRESENT WHEN CHECKED WITH A GENERIC SCAN TOOL. MY SAFETY WAS PUT AT RISK BECAUSE THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET AS THEY ARE NOT OPEN TODAY AND I WANTED TO REPORT THIS WHILE ALL THE DETAILS WERE FRESH ON MY MIND.

I was driving at 60MPH on the highway and my engine failed. The dashboard read "Press Start to Restart" and my engine RPMs were zero and nothing happened when I pressed the accelerator. I was lucky to be driving in the right hand lane and was able to get over. I had to stop the vehicle in a tight area with a guardrail on the right hand side of the shoulder and passing traffic on the left. Luckily, my engine restarted. I got off at the next exit and the same thing happened. I was able to restart is again and get it home and eventually to the dealer. The vehicle has 29,500 miles on it and the dealer says it needs a new engine (L87). They say it could take 3 months to get it.

I had engine failure two weeks after a schedule maintenance that included a tune up. When the engine failed all the components made the vehicle impossible to operate much less bring to a stop safely. I had to get the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer confirmed that the engine (6.2 V8) has a known documented issue. The vehicle is at my dealer with the engine being disassembled. There weren't any warnings as I stayed on the maintenance schedule that the dealer mapped out since my purchase. The problem began [XXX]. After researching the issue I found this online. That is how I found your web site. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Engine failure requiring engine replacement. I was told it was likely a bearing failure issue. I purchased the vehicle used from grapevine Buick with about 75,000 miles and decided not to purchase an extended warranty because I have always had good life and no engine issue with my previous chevy vehicles. There were no warning engine lights before, when it occurred or after it occurred. When the problem occurred on 12/2/24 I was driving on a road going approximately 50 mph when suddenly I felt a sudden loss of power. I then pulled over into a parking lot and could hear the engine knocking and making a screeching sound. I was over 230 miles from home when this occurred and had to get the vehicle towed back home. I had it towed again to an a shop where they determined the engine needed to be replaced. There was lots of metal shavings found in the oil pain. I was told it was likely a bearing failure issue. As I had no extended warranty and the factory warranty expired at 60,000 miles I had to pay over $12,000 for the engine to be replaced on a vehicle I had just purchased the prior month.

On [XXX] I was traveling at highway speed south on [XXX] . I was driving my 2023 GM [XXX] The truck had 36,199 miles at the time of the incident. The engine is a 6.2 L EcoTec3 V8. While traveling at highway speed, without any warning, the engine shut down. The shift indicator displayed the vehicle being in neutral. When I tried to shift back into gear, a dashboard display stated "The current conditions are not suited for shifting." Fortunately I was able to coast onto the center median, off the traveled protion of the roadway without incident. I contacted the New Jersey State Police. They sent a tow operator to my location, and I was towed to Lester Glenn Buick-GMC in Tom's River, NJ The next day a representative from the service department informed me the vehicle suffered a catastrophic engine failure. The engine completely seized and the vehicle would need a complete engine replacement. The reason for the engine seizure has not been determined as of this time.
