I am reporting a potentially serious and widespread safety defect involving Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT tires installed as factory equipment on General Motors trucks. My 2025 GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali has just 5,800 miles. Both rear tires, with DOT code 2724, have developed identical sidewall bulges behind the “NER” in the “TrailRunner” stamp. These bulges are consistent with internal structural failure, not road hazard damage. The truck has never struck a pothole or curb, and there is no evidence of impact or external damage. I have personally inspected several brand-new GM trucks on dealer lots, equipped with the same Goodyear tires, showing the exact same sidewall bulge in the same location. These trucks also have newer DOT Manufacture date stamps. Most importantly, these vehicles have never been driven, which strongly suggests a tire manufacturing defect, not a driver-related issue. At my first scheduled service, the dealer’s service department refused to rotate the tires, citing the bulges as a safety risk. I filed a formal complaint with GM and requested that they involve Goodyear. GM denied the request, claimed the damage was from road impact (without evidence), and stated that the decision was final and not disputable. They refused to conduct any further investigation or escalate the claim. I believe GM’s refusal to act on a potential structural defect, especially one seen across multiple new vehicles, demonstrates a failure to exercise due diligence and exposes the public to unnecessary danger. A blowout from these bulges could lead to serious injury or fatal crashes. I am urging NHTSA to open a defect investigation into Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT tires, particularly those with DOT code 2724 and newer, as installed on GM trucks. I am prepared to submit photographs and dealership documentation as necessary.

Subject: Urgent Safety Concern – Widespread Failure and Nationwide Backorder of OnStar Module (GM Part No. 86803964) Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding a widespread and well-documented failure of the OnStar module (GM Part No. 86803964) in 2023 GMC Sierra vehicles and potentially other GM models. I own a 2023 GMC Sierra equipped with this module, which has failed, rendering my vehicle’s entire instrument cluster completely inoperative. All screens, including the digital gauges and essential driver information displays, are blacked out, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe and non-drivable condition. After contacting numerous GM dealerships across the country, I have discovered that this part is on national backorder, with over 4,000 units reportedly pending. I have also learned that the part number has been superseded multiple times, suggesting an ongoing and unresolved issue. To make matters worse, Specmo is reported to be the sole refurbisher and distributor of replacement modules, further limiting availability and delaying resolution. This issue directly affects vehicle operability and driver safety. The inability to access critical information such as speed, fuel level, warning indicators, and system diagnostics significantly increases the risk of accidents and vehicle malfunctions. Given the scale of this issue and its impact on public safety, I urge General Motors, relevant regulatory bodies, and consumer safety agencies to investigate this matter thoroughly. A recall, expedited solution, or broader communication to affected customers appears necessary at this stage.

My truck has the shift to park issue and won’t allow me to shut the vehicle ignition off and I cannot shut the vehicle ignition off and it is unsafe and keeps me trapped in my vehicle. I have noticed that it is a common issue and recall on many gmc trucks and I took it to the dealership and they are not wanting to cover it with my two warranties I have on the truck and my vehicle is unsafe. I cannot park the vehicle and shut it off. When I go to put the truck in park on shift column lever, it says shift to park on dash and I turn it on and move shifter to drive and neutral and the vehicle still won’t allow me to shut it off and it shows the same issue.. the issue just began out of no where.

Engine locked up without warning while traveling 65 MPH heading [XXX] on [XXX] outside of East Dubuque, IL. I had now power and many lights on the dash lit up simultaneously. Luckily I was able to coast to a stop and get my vehicle mostly off the highway. I had to walk almost 3 miles in the snow and dark to get to town. The camshaft cover in pre 2021 3.0L Duramax motors is leaking oil/def internally causing oil loss. This is something GM has noted in their TSB pages but has not issued a recall over. This is a hazard to emissions, oil consumption, and the def system. Also could result in premature engine failure.

IT IS WIDELY KNOWN THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND YEAR MODEL OF VEHICLE. THIS MATTER PUTS AN UNDUE HARDSHIP ON ME AS A VEHICLE OWNER. This truck is burning oil faster than it takes us to do an oil change we have to check it once a week to make sure it had oil in it. I have seen online I am not the only one having this issue this year make and model. I want to report this problem.

The engine coolant flow control valve position sensor is faulty. I brought mt truck in to my dealership and I have been waiting for over a month to get the issue fixed because “the part is on backorder”. This issue makes my truck sound like a jet engine because it makes the truck think overheating and causes the fan to come on at full blast. After drivinf for awhile it goes into “ reduced engine power mode” which is totally unsafe because it reduces the horse power to that of a lawn mower. It takes about 30 seconds to get from 0-60, so merging onto freeways or in conditions where you need extra speed its completely useless and increases the scenario of being rear ended, immensely.

We didn't know that the truck was having a low pressure oil problem, never showed a warning or check engine light, the truck stop all off the sudden without warning, and the engine was seized in the middle of a road, thank God we weren't driving in the highway .

I was driving down the highway at 75 MPH; and noticed my traction control light come on. No sooner than the thought processed about the light my whole dash lit up and indicated engine light, Traction control system, and steering was difficult. I pulled over immediately and turned the vehicle off. I got out checked all the fluids “all were full and good” no leaks, cracks, nothing obvious I could see. I got back in and started the engine for a moment and heard a slight knocking on the passenger side of engine and felt a little vibration not present before. After getting it towed and not wanting to risk further damage I got the vehicle to a GMC dealer who then diagnosed that I had a failed lifter on my vehicle. This caused bent rods, leading to internal engine damage and I needed a completely new engine. The odometer reading was 68,231. I have not even had a headlight go out in this vehicle yet. All of my oil change records were up to date. It was past my warranty with GMC so they would not pay for it and wanted me to pay 10,700$ out of pocket. My insurance ended up paying for it. When I inspected the engine myself with a GM mechanic he told me that they have been having ALOT of issues with these lifters being stuck causing catastrophic engine damage. Obviously the 6.2 liter is noticed but my vehicle is a 5.3 liter V8. They believe it is caused by the AFM fuel saving feature where it goes down to 4 cylinders on highway speeds to save gas. This was a nightmare and I was without a vehicle for ALMOST a month to the day… exactly 29 days

I was driving on the highway at 60mph and the engine shut off. I was fortunate enough to be able to get the truck off the road without incident. The instruments instructed me to try to start the vehicle again. Upon doing so the engine made very loud and erratic knocking noises and I shut it off. I towed the truck to the GMC dealership where they told me the engine had thrown 2 rod bearings. They told me this was VERY common with the 6.2L engine. The truck was extremely well maintained with all services at the dealership, and only had 70,000 miles on it. GM quoted me $15,436.00 to replace the engine. I did open a case with GM when the incident occurred. Case # [XXX]
