The transmission Started Shuddering, it would slip occasionally and slipped badly when i was driving in rush hour traffic in the middle of a left turn. had no power for several seconds then it finally reengaged. The shuddering got worse and worse to the point i took it to a transmission shop to look at it and they said i needed a replacement transmission unit. I did get a replacement unit, the whole process was extremely unpleasant. The previous unit was sent as a core to be remanufactured. The company that i used to get a remanufactured unit is Fraser Transmissions. No warning lamps appeared prior to the transmission acting up.

2024 Vehicle is part of the massive GMC 6.2L engine recall. The vehicle was called into the dealership on 1/6/2026 (10,437 Miles / 320.9 Engine Hours) for recall evaluation. Testing indicated vehicle was NOT a candidate for a new motor so oil and oil filter were changed to 0W-40 and I was sent on my way. Vehicle started a tapping noise at idle. Dealer advised the next week was the soonest I could be seen so I set up an appointment for Monday 8/31/2026 . I used the vehicle on Saturday [XXX] and while returning home it began making a racket emitting all types of terrible noises. I was only a few miles from the dealer so I limped into the dealship and left the vehicle on their lot. I spoke to the dealership on Monday 8/31/26 and was advised the vehicle would be evaluated later that day. I spoke to the dealership on Tuesday 9/1/26 and was advised the 6.2L engine had failed (13,591 miles) and parts had been ordered. Dealer advised it would probably be 6 - 8 weeks to get the truck returned. I am a trailer boater and also pull a trailer with a side by side. These activities are why I own a truck. Dealer advised I could get a loaner vehicle but that it was illegal to tow a trailer in Illinois with dealer plates. I ended up trading the vehicle for a new truck and suffered a large unplanned expense ( $20,537) as a result. Since the vehicle had failed and was not driveable it was impossible for me to go elsewhere to trade in this vehicle to a competitor. As a result of the failure I feel I was held hostage to buy another GMC. The vehicle did not show any abnormal gage readings or dispaly any warnings. At low speeds, and not 100% of the time, the power steering will go out while I'm turning. It just does it on its own and will correct itself in a few seconds, usually when I'm done with the turn. It's at very low speeds, like parking in a parking lot or turning around in front of my house. So far no issues turning at normal speeds in traffic. Very scary at the low speeds especially since my wife and my young daughter might drive it in a year when she gets her license. I can kind of still turn it, but I know they can't and a new driver will more than likely panic.

The vehicle has experienced repeated Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction warnings that appear related to a prior GM recall for ESC malfunction codes. These warnings occurred before and after dealer repairs. The ESC malfunction may have affected other safety systems. I was involved in two separate accidents while driving this vehicle, and in both incidents the airbags did not deploy. In one accident, the vehicle struck multiple objects in a frontal collision at significant speed. The airbags did not deploy at all. I lost consciousness, sustained injuries, and have experienced ongoing physical symptoms since the incident. The ESC malfunction warnings continued even after GM dealership repairs following each accident. The defects were not resolved, and the vehicle has remained unsafe and inoperable. The vehicle has been inspected by a GM dealership multiple times, but the issues were not corrected. The ESC malfunction warnings and airbag non‑deployment have been reproduced and confirmed through these service visits. There were warning messages related to ESC malfunction prior to the failures, and these messages continued to appear. The combination of ESC malfunction, loss of control, and airbag non‑deployment suggests a possible cross‑module safety failure involving the airbag system and ESC. I have contacted GM’s corporate safety team and GM’s executive support, but the responses I received did not address the safety‑defect issues. I have sent follow‑up emails and made phone calls but have not received further assistance. The vehicle remains unsafe to operate, inoperable, and available for inspection.

Addendum to previous submission # 11760415. At 15,033 mileage again multiple codes present along with a rough running engine. Dealership service dept confirmed on 9/17/2026 verification of 10 active codes , 2 pending codes triggering check engine light. Onstar notification as well of engine issue. Prominently codes P0016 & P0340 lead the list. PICO testing was stated to have failed two out of 3 parameters. Officially stated now as an engine defect which is being directed to be replaced with a remanufactured , not new , motor. Very fortunate to not have experienced dramatic failure ( loss of propulsion ) at highway speeds far from home. Even though this vehicle warning's persisted prior to this ultimate conclusion it was insisted that ultimate failure was necessary before any resolution would be instituted. A safety conundrum if you will. A high probability safety risk of continued use ( based on historical data on this known engine failure risk ) to ‘ prove ‘ it would fail like many others already have. A fair assessment of my personal experience.

Vehicle: 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT VIN: 3GTU9DEL5LG340438 Engine: 6.2L V8, RPO L87 Mileage: approximately 129,854 miles My 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 equipped with the L87 6.2L V8 experienced an engine failure and has been diagnosed as needing an engine replacement. I am reporting this because my vehicle is equipped with the same L87 6.2L engine currently being investigated by NHTSA under Engineering Analysis EA25007 for engine failures occurring outside the scope of Recall 25V-274. My model year is not currently included in Recall 25V-274. However, EA25007 specifically addresses L87 engine failures occurring outside the existing recall population, including 2019–2024 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. GM also issued Preliminary Information bulletin PIP5900, “Diagnostic Tips for Seized Engine or Engine Noise,” applicable to 2019–2023 GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with the 6.2L L87 engine, which identifies possible crankshaft bearing failure. I am requesting that this engine failure be documented as part of NHTSA's ongoing investigation of L87 engine failures outside Recall 25V-274.

On September 11, 2026, while driving my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate at approximately 70 mph on the Buckman Bridge (US 295 S), the painted upper grille/hood molding located between the hood and the top of the grille suddenly detached from the vehicle. Before I purchased the vehicle, it had sustained damage to the front fascia during transportation/shipping. As part of the repair prior to my purchase, the upper trim piece in this area was replaced by General Motors. To my knowledge, the replacement was performed by GM as part of the pre-delivery repair. The vehicle had not been involved in a collision or impact prior to the failure while I owned it. The component detached while the vehicle was traveling at approximately 70 mph on a bridge and entered active traffic. I was unable to determine what happened to the component after it entered traffic or whether it struck another vehicle. At the time of the incident, I did not initially realize exactly which component had detached. I subsequently determined that the missing part was the painted upper grille/hood molding/front upper grille deflector. I am reporting this because I have since learned that GM issued safety recall N242490120 / NHTSA recall 25V060 for certain 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles involving the front upper grille deflector. That recall describes fracture of the attachment points and the possibility of the deflector completely detaching while the vehicle is being driven. My vehicle is a 2023 model, but the component and reported failure appear substantially similar. The failure occurred at approximately 70 mph and caused a large exterior body component to enter active traffic, creating a potential hazard to other motorists. I am requesting that NHTSA document this incident and investigate whether the defect addressed by recall 25V060 also affects 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, including vehicles in which the upper trim piece had previously been replaced by GM.

Very similar to NHTSA complaints 11752469; 11762072 ; 11761966 ; 11761844; 11755200 while turning left into my 6 degree inclined drive at a slow rate of speed under 5 mph, my 2026 GMC Sierra SLT X31 with 1500 miles suddenly slams into park and shuts down. "Press start" shows on display and am able to start the truck. Twice the "Service Transmission" light has displayed. I took it to the dealer after two incidents and they could not replicate. Since getting it back from the dealer, I've had six more incidents and am taking back to the dealer with more information for them. The last incident, I was prepared for it and felt the truck begin to shut down and slammed on the brake before it shut down.

- #11765548September 19, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, POWER TRAIN, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving vehicle flashed engine power reduction signal and then the emergency brake automatic feature came on abruptly. Fortunately, I had been able to slow down after the reduced power, but if I wouldn't have quickly reacted to that, I think the emergency brake system would have caused a safety issue. Now. The vehicle is incapacitated. There were two recalls that describe this exact situation on the same year and model of truck, but my VIN number did not fall. Under that recall. The recall was for the sensor and then the second recall was because the first recall didn't correctly fix it. But the details of the faulty sensor are exactly what happened to my truck. So it sounds to me like they had more problems than just the recall that they acknowledged but they have not expanded it. My quest is to have them expand the recall to all of the vehicles that had the same problem.

The 6.2L L87 V8 engine in my 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 suffered a sudden, catastrophic mechanical failure and shut down completely while driving at 65 mph with only 6113 miles on the odometer. There were no dashboard warning lights prior to the seizure, resulting in a sudden and dangerous loss of power. I was towing a 30 foot camper at the time and passing an 18 wheeler, it was truly a dangerous situation at the time and my wife and I feel very fortunate that we that we didn’t have a fatal accident. The dealership confirmed a total engine failure/seizure and had to replace the entire engine assembly under warranty."

- #11765251September 18, 2026EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL:CARRIER/RACK
On several occasions this Saris Superclamp bike rack has dropped from an upright position to a tilted position when there is a bump/dip in the road. A driver following has later reported to me that the rack/bikes falling quickly startled him and led to him braking. The bikes have not fallen from the rack when it drops down but I am concerned about the possibility. I have contacted the manufacturer and they will send me parts to repair if I can provide the original sales slip which I can not find. The part is available for purchase for $200 which is nearly half the cost of the rack. I have communicated to the manufacturer that this defect is a safety hazard and they should rectify the issue at no cost. They have refused.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH to 50 MPH, the vehicle shuddered and made a shuddering sound while shifting between gears. Additionally, the contact stated that the engine lifters and camshaft were previously replaced. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The traction control warning light was intermittently illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to a dealer to determine whether the failures were associated with a recall for coverage consideration. The contact stated that a coworker's vehicle experienced an identical transmission failure, and a transmission specialist diagnosed that issue as a torque converter failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
