  This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have not engagement into drive, delayed, no engagement into reverse, and or a range inhibit. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0701, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0736, P0751, P0756, P0761, P0776, P0843, P0848, P0873, P0877, P0894 or P2723. Technician should follow published Service Information diagnostics for Diagnostic Trouble Code P0701 first. Technician will also ensure the fluid level is at the top of the hot band when the transmission fluid temperature is 175° Fahrenheit. Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0701, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0736, P0751, P0756, P0761, P0776, P0843, P0848, P0873, P0877, P0894 or P2723 can set by the following fluid service/filter change, transmission service involving removing the pan, low fluid level caused by leaks, or after long periods of storage. If the fluid level has been properly checked using the HOT check procedure listed in Service Information document 2408059 and any of the Diagnostic Trouble Codes reset during a cold start inspect the internal suction filter for possible cracks. If no other concerns are found inspect for a stuck lube regulator valve in the pump cover due to debris.

Technician should first access the rear of the inner wheelhouse area through the tail lamp cavity and the front of the wheelhouse from under the vehicle, and coat the inner hem of the wheel house to side outer panel with 3M Rust Fighter I. After allowing the 3M Rust Fighter I to dry then apply several coats of Nox Rust X-121B undercoating.

  This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician the steps to diagnose and repair the concern of the display is showing 32° F (0° C) after a battery or reprogramming a module. The outside temperature will begin to update if driven above 20 mph for at least 5 minutes. If the vehicle speed drops below 20 mph, the timer will reset and the display will stop updating. Once the display starts to update it may take several more minutes of driving above 20 mph for the display to fully update. Also if the vehicle is shut off for more than 8 hours the display will update when the ignition is turned on.

  18128 - Special Coverage. In certain vehicles, if a driver repeatedly sits on the seat belt cable cover located at the base of the driver?s seat when entering the vehicle, it may cause the seat belt pretensioner to bend sharply over the seat side shield. If this continues to occur over an extended period of time, which is very rare, the seat belt pretensioner cable may fatigue and eventually separate, which could reduce the effectiveness of the vehicle?s seat belts. Before any damage occurs to the pretensioner cable itself, signs of wear will be visible on the pretensioner cable cover where it has been repeatedly bent over the seat side shield. Dealers are to replace the pretensioner and side shield for all customers that experience a broken pretensioner cable or come to a dealership with excessive wear on the cable sleeve. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.
