SummaryFor 2010-2019 vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines, when diagnosing and/or replacing turbo related concerns, all steps within the Workshop Manual (WSM) procedure must be followed including replacement of all mandatory discarded parts. For all turbocharged engine applications, the turbocharger oil supply filter (6C683 gas engine/6L625 connector style or 6A968 diesel engine) must be replaced whenever the turbocharger or the turbocharger oil supply tube are replaced. Turbocharger bearing failure may occur if oil starvation occurs due to a restricted filter.

SummarySome 2011-2019 F-Super Duty, 2015-2019 Transit, 2016-2019 F-650/F-750 and 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L, 3.2L or 3.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P207F, P20EE, P229F, P2201 and/or P24AE. This may be a result of using aftermarket cleaning liquids or tools for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler or intake. Ford does not recommend the cleaning of diesel intakes or EGR coolers using any aftermarket tool that injects a cleaning foam or liquid substance into the EGR cooler or intake. Using these types of fluids can result in sodium poisoning of the NOx and particulate matter (PM) sensors resulting in degraded operation and permanent damage to the aftertreatment system. Use of these cleaning tools may void the emissions warranty of the hot end aftertreatment exhaust system and the attached emissions sensors.

SummarySome 2013-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with only DTC P2074 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a dirty air filter, replace the filter if necessary. Do not replace the PCM or mass air flow (MAF) sensor for this concern. Instead perform a MAF parameter reset under: Toolbox > Powertrain > Service Functions > Reset/Clear Specified Function > Reset/Clear Functions > MAF Sensor. Engineering is investigating. SummaryWhen performing diagnostics for DTCs P2201, P2452, P2459, P246C and/or P2463, a manual regeneration and diesel particulate filter (DPF) parameter reset using the appropriate scan tool may need to be performed. To perform the manual regeneration, go to the Toolbox tab > Powertrain > Service Functions > Diesel Particulate Regeneration System > DPF Manual Regeneration. The scan tool may indicate that a regeneration of the DPF is not recommended at this time, selecting YES on this screen will allow the regeneration process to complete. To perform the DPF parameter reset, go to the Toolbox tab > Powertrain > Service Functions > Diesel Particulate Regeneration System > DPF Parameter Reset.

SummarySome 2017-2018 F-Super Duty pickups may exhibit an instrument panel cluster (IPC) turn signal indicator that flashes fast with no inoperative turn signal lamps after the pickup box has been removed by the upfitter. This may be due to the body control module (BCM) not recognizing the modified lower current turn signal lighting that was installed. To correct this concern, use Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool version 104.04 or later to configure turn lamp outage settings as required. Under toolbox > module programming > programmable parameters > exterior lighting, select rear bulb turn outage and outage ABM and change the setting on each parameter from outage to no outage. Changes to lamp outage settings on pickups as a result of upfitter modifications are non-warrantable. Upfitters are responsible for FMVSS 108 compliance.

SummarySome 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine built on or before 6-Dec-2017 may exhibit an exhaust odor in the vehicle cabin. This may be due to a leak at the turbocharger inlet clamps. Performing a pressurized smoke test on the exhaust system will aid in locating the source of a leak. While performing the smoke test, the use of a small mirror can help identify leaks underneath the clamps. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual Pinpoint Test KA, Step KA3. Note that the turbo charger is not a contributing factor in the exhaust leak issue.

SummarySome 2015-2018 F-150 and 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a lack of cooling from the heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) system due to a low refrigerant charge. Using an ultraviolet (UV) leak detection light, inspect the condenser near the receiver/dryer cap for the presence of dye. If dye is present, replace the condenser. For claiming, use causal part 19712 and applicable labor operations in Section 11 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual

Summary2017-2018 F-Super Duty/F-650/F-750/E-Series/Transit chassis cab and stripped chassis vehicles have their front alignment set as part of final assembly. The addition of aftermarket equipment such as utility and box bodies will change the ride height and therefore the alignment angles. Front-end alignments performed before the addition of aftermarket equipment may not be accurate. It is the responsibility of the final-stage manufacturer to check and set alignment angles and set clear vision (steering wheel orientation) after the addition of the aftermarket equipment. Reference page nine of the Body Builders Layout book for more information about this and the addition of aftermarket bodies to incomplete vehicles.
