I was driving on the highway going 70MPH in 6th gear. Myself, my wife, and my 6th month old son were on our way to a doctors appointment when in the middle lane on the highway my truck decided to completely downshift into 1st gear. With doing so my truck locked up and I lost control of the vehicle almost colliding with a semi. I was very lucky to not have wrecked and got onto the shoulder safely where I had no power to my vehicle. I got it towed to a dealership and after paying out of pocket for a diagnostic they found that my truck had a recall with the oss sensor on the transmission witch caused significant engine and transmission damage resulting in $18,000.00 to fix. Apparently the warranty expires 10 years or 150k miles which my truck has surpassed both. I wasn’t warned about any recall or found any recall there was no damage or signs of damage to the truck prior to this incident.

My truck had a safety recall to fix a module that was causing to he transmission to down shift into low gear at high speeds Many times while driving the truck on freeway at 65mph the truck would down shift to low gear causing the truck tires to lock up and engine rev and then it would feel like I was rear ended from behind ..An illumination of a orange wrench would take over the whole display of gauges .The milage and all gauges would just be lines like -- - - - this and service engine light would come on too.I would pull over and restart the truck and it would drive ok again for a little while .I took it to Ford and had the recall fixed. When I went to pick up truck I was told my motor needed to be replaced because me # 7 cylinder was not holding compression. My truck only has 79,000 miles on it .There was no problem with motor before thr transmission started downshifting at high speeds My truck is under the milage to be fixed under warranty but because I don't drive it that much I am out of warranty because its been past 10 yrs .This recall for transmission i believe is what cause my motor to go bad

My 2013 F150 downshifted abruptly from 5th to 1st gear going 55. This caused me to stop dangerously and abruptly. It then got stuck in 1st gear. I turned off truck and restarted and it was stuck in 3rd gear. I did have a check engine light read which were codes: P0720/p0721/p0720 pointing to the output shaft speed sensor. I had Ford dealership TSB performed in 2020 to reprogram PCM to prevent this from happening, wrench icon showed a long with airbag light and dashboard quit working all except RPM gauge. The first time this abrupt downshift occurred was today February 21, 2024. Seems like a very dangerous safety issue and the dealership has no regards to it and said they are booked out and it would be $150 to look into it.

Feb 18th 2024 I was driving my 2013 Ford F150 FX4 (current mileage: 65,900) and I was up to about 55-60 mph when the truck downshifted on its on to 1st gear as I was approaching a curve. My gauges went blank on the vehicle and the check engine light as well as the wrench light came on. I pulled off the road. I tried to turning the engine off and starting it again. As I went to put it in drive, when it hit reverse the truck jerked hard and I went to neutral. As I shifted to drive it jerked hard again and registered the truck in 5th gear sitting still. I tried that (2) more times and same result. I unhooked the battery and reconnected it. Started the truck and no service lights. My family and I continued on our trip to dinner thinking it was just a glitch. After dinner on the way home we experienced the same thing when the truck hit 55-60mph, luckily right in front of an Auto parts store. I had them do a diagnostic test and pulled (3) codes. 1) P0721 Output shaft speed sensor circuit range/performance. 2) P07210-00 and 3) P0722-00. Took it to Ford dealership and said it was a "customer satisfaction recall" but my truck is past the 10 year period being a 2013 model so it's not covered and will be $1,300.

Was driving on a public road about 35 mph when the car decelerated on its own and engine rpm went up significantly (maybe to 4000 rpm) due to the transmission downshifting to first gear. While trying to change to manual shifting (M) I noticed the speedometer was reading zero even though we were moving now approximately 20 mph. Eventually I was able to manually shift to 3rd gear but no further. During this time, the speedometer returned to showing speed and automatic transmission began working again. I was told by the dealer that I did not qualify for the Customer Satisfaction Warranty Extension for the molded lead frame (transmission electrical) since my vehicle was three months past the extended warranty. I mentioned to the dealer representative that this felt more like a safety issue than a customer satisfaction issue during the event. I replaced the lead frame myself.

While in motion, the wrench on the dash lights up and the truck downshifts. It matches the description that goes with the recall for the speed sensor and the truck being reprogrammed. The symptoms, the truck info, the assembly plant and date all fit the recall but it's not on the recall list.

The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the contact became aware that the vehicle failed to shift properly and seemed to be stuck in gear. The service engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission-molded lead frame. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 19N01. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 103,000. The contact understands the recall expired but the vehicle did not present the issue until after the fact. And thinks a recall is a recall and FMC should stand behind their product.

Driving on highway when a felt a slight jerk in the steering wheel. Then I discovered steering wheel required Herculean strength to turn the vehicle. I made it to a safe location, restarted the vehicle and was able to drive normally. My dash said there was a power steering assist fault. A week later it did it again. A few days after that, my power steering is gone and restarting the vehicle will not fix it. This is an unsafe condition and Ford should issue a recall.

My 2013 f150 ecoboost 3.5 has warped exhaust manifolds like all the other f150 owners that are out there complaing of the same issue, but for some reason alot of vin# have been left off the recall list why? There is a recall for this problem with this engin listed for all other ford cars 2011-2015 with this enging, The f150 is listed on line but for some reason my vin# did not pop-up as others with the same issnue and same and falls ind the years Ford listed as a recall. . If my engine and others who are expereancing the same problem as others F150s that have been recalled. Ford needs to fix this with my truck and others. I barley drive this truck anymore because of this and the cost at a Ford dealership is almost $3000.00. I have been complaing for years and this needs to be addressed
