truck speedometer goes to 0. Slows down abruptly. Rpm goes way up. Was going from 45 to less than 10mph in a matter of seconds. Feels like the transmission automatically downshifts to a lower gear. Very dangerous. Seems to be quite a few of these incidents on you tube. Truck only has 11600 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly drop to first gear without warning. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle had been taken in for a recall with the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train) for which the remedy had been completed, however, they were still experiencing a failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the lead frame failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired due to them missing the deadline for the warranty coverage portion relating to the recall mentioned above. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a safety complaint. The failure mileage was 116,000.

Driving at 65 mph in 6th gear on the highway the transmission downshifted to first. It was as if I had slammed on the brakes, the downshift was completely unexpected and nearly caused me to lose control of the vehicle. After regaining control over the vehicle and getting pulled off the highway into a safe turnout. The transmission had not overheated it was at its normal operating range. I allowed the pickup to sit for a few minutes. I checked the transmission fluid and it was at operating level and was not burnt nor did it have metal flakes in it. After allowing the pickup to sit for about 10 minutes I pulled back onto the highway and attempted to get back up to 65 mph, 1st gear didn’t shift to 2nd until just below 7000 rpm. 2nd to 3rd gear was also nearly 7000 rpm until the shift. The dash read 4th but the truck quit powering the rear wheels, as if the transmission were in neutral. The truck then flashed the orange wrench on the dash and was stuck in 3rd until I pulled over and parked and shut the pickup off for a few minutes. The problem repeated itself after attempting to get on the highway after letting the pickup sit for a few minutes. Prior to this incident there had been a very random and slight shift delay between 3rd and 4th and the trans would downshift from 6th or 5th to 3rd sometimes and there would be a delay in power for a couple of seconds before shifting to 4th then 5th to 6th

on march 11 2024 while traveling on the highway my f150 lost all power and stoped on the road. the truck was towed to point pleasant ford dealership. I was informed the transmission was completely out of oil. ford said the lines from the transmission to the oil cooler had failed. this was caused by a defective connector to the oil cooler. I was later informed the lines are steel but the connector is aluminum I wonder if the dissimilar metals caused the corrosion. the truck only had 48,000 miles on it although it is 11 years old. the truck stopping in middle of traffic is an extreme hazard.

This has now happened countless times. The truck will be in a gear, as I naturally speed up, the transmission will jerk and the truck will get stuck in the following gear. The truck will then be stuck in that gear and will not downshift. A big wrench light comes on, then turns off about 10 seconds later. In addition, the odometer lists dashes (---,---), no mileage measures. The speedometer stays at 0 mph even when driving in the stuck gear. Another light stays on, I think it is the airbag image. Everything stays as is until I turn off the truck. Once I turn off and turn back on, everything goes back to normal. I've taken the truck to Ford, but because there are no "check engine" lights and there are no codes, Ford will not cover. My mechanic has confirmed (without any codes) that the recall is TSB16-0008, which was issued in March 2019. Since my truck is showing no codes, and my truck is over 10 years old, Ford says they will not cover. This is extremely concerning. If the truck downshifts on the highway, or refuses to downshift when needed, I could be in a serious accident. As mentioned, this has now occurred countless times.

I started the truck and as I backed out of a parking spot, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and the brakes did not stop the truck. I used the emergency brake to stop and pulled back into the parking spot. I checked the brake fluid and it was low. I purchased some at the store I was at and filled up the reservoir. I pumped the brakes and they appeared to work. After driving for about a block the brake fluid light came on and the reservoir was empty. No fluid leaking anywhere under the vehicle.

I own a 2013 Ford F-150. On numerous occasions while driving at any speeds, 40-70;MPH, the vehicle downshifted from 6th, 5th, and 4th to 1st gear, and cease to come to a halt. . The check engine and wrench warning lights illuminated. I would have to turn the truck off and restart to get out of the middle of the road. I would at times have to do this every few miles in order to make it to my destination. The check engine wrench warning light remained illuminated at times and other times would not, and the transmission failed to shift out of 1st gear. This would only happen periodically at 1st, then started happening on a regular basis I took to Ford dealership and got repairs done. At which time I Questioned if there were any recalls and they stated the recall repairs had already been fulfilled on my vehicle, therefore all costs involved are my responsibility. I paid the repair charges in full of approximately 2000$. Upon researching the recalls which started in 2019 NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V433000 (Power Train) or 19V075000 (Power Train). And also seeing documentation in reference to these campaigns that when some of the vehicles were repaired that the broken parts were not all removed from inventory therefore the original recall repairs were made with faulty parts. I then proceeded to phone the Ford dealership back and was pretty adamant that I should be reimbursed for the second repairs as it sounds like same issue of 2019 recall. I was denied my request and was informed to call Ford customer service for reimbursement. As of this date no reimbursement has been made. The failure mileage was approximately 136K
