Summary2018 F150 vehicles excluding Raptor built at Dearborn Truck Plant on or after 26-Feb-2018 and at Kansas City Assembly Plant on or after 10-Mar-2018 have the AAT sensor located in the right exterior mirror. The AAT sensor is serviced separately from the mirror assembly. If the vehicle is built on or after the dates listed above, do not add the sensor and harness behind the grill. If the sensor is missing from the right mirror the incorrect exterior mirror may have been installed. Refer to Ambient Air Temperature Sensor GSB G0000178 for additional information. The Workshop Manual (WSM) and Wiring Diagram have been updated for non-Raptor vehicles for the early and late build AAT sensor locations. The sensor location on Raptor vehicles has not changed.

SummarySome 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTCs P0390 and/or P0394. These DTCs may be caused by low engine oil level. Before performing any diagnosis or repair, make sure the oil level is between the minimum and maximum marks on the oil level indicator. If the oil level is below the minimum mark, diagnose the low oil level concern first. Refer to the Workshop Manual, Section 303-00. If the oil level is in the normal operating range, inspect C1627. If no concerns are present, replace the bank 2 (LH) exhaust variable camshaft timing (VCT) solenoid. Do not replace camshaft position sensors for these DTCs. For claiming, use causal part 6M280 and applicable labor operations in Section 06 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.

SummarySome 2013-2018 F-150, 2015-2018 Transit/Expedition, and 2015-2017 Navigator vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine with greater than 20,000 miles may exhibit a tick type noise from the cylinder block area. This noise may be caused by a cracked piston skirt. The noise can be isolated to a cylinder using a stethoscope or other suitable listening device. Canceling the affected cylinder will reduce or eliminate the noise. If the noise is isolated to a specific cylinder, it is recommended to replace the short block. If the noise cannot be isolated using the methods described, refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM) for diagnosis. A cracked piston skirt does not result in metal contamination of the engine or any related cylinder head damage. Prior approval for short block replacement is not required under new vehicle limited warranty coverage.

SummaryVarious 2016-2018 vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience a touch screen that does not respond to any input. Using the Professional Technician Society (PTS) website > OASIS tab > SYNC version, verify the vehicle SYNC software version. If the vehicle is at version 2.2 please update the module to the latest software level. After the software is updated make sure you shut the vehicle off, open the door for 2 minutes, then turn the key back on before testing the touch screen. If the software is at a later version than 2.2, proceed with normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 415-00. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standards (SLTS) manual.

SummarySome 2017-2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine built at Kansas City Assembly Plant on or before 23-Feb-2018 or Dearborn Truck Plant on or before 26-Feb-2018 may exhibit an oil leak from the oil pan RTV seal. Replace the oil pan following the procedure in Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01. After removing the oil pan, it is suggested to allow the crankcase to drain overnight to minimize the chance of contaminating the sealing rail. Prepare the engine sealing surface following the procedure in WSM Section, 303-00. Proper usage of the Motorcraftù Metal Surface Prep Wipes is critical. If possible, allow the new RTV sealant to cure for 4 hours before refilling the engine with oil. Correctly following the WSM procedures is critical. Skipping or improperly completing steps may result in repeat oil pan leaks.

SummarySome 2018 F150, Navigator and Expedition vehicles equipped with 3.5L EcoBoost engine may experience malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illumination with Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) DTC P0365 and/or P0369. This may be due to low engine oil level, low engine oil pressure or damaged variable camshaft timing (VCT) phasers. Before performing Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnostics (PC/ED) Manual diagnostics, inspect the engine oil level and evaluate any abnormal VCT noise conditions. If engine oil level is correct, and no unusual engine noises are present, proceed with normal PC/ED diagnostics test PPT 'DR'.

SummarySome 2013-2018 F-150 and 2017-2018 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit an intermittent grinding noise coming from the right or left IWE area in 2WD mode. This may be caused by an intermittent leak in the check valve. Before completing any normal diagnosis suspect that the check valve is the root cause of the issue. If the check valve has been ruled out as the root cause for the issue refer to Work Shop Manual 308-07 and follow normal diagnosis.

SummarySome 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.3L engine built on or before 7-May-2018 at Dearborn Assembly Plant or on or before 31-May-2018 at Kansas City Assembly Plant may exhibit an illuminated MIL and/or runs rough condition with DTC P0192 and/or P0193. Various other DTCs may be set. This may be due to engine harness chaffing at the right cylinder head near connector C1056 at the cylinder head core plug boss. The connector will need to be removed from the retainer to inspect the back side of the harness for any damage. Repair as necessary. Make sure to wrap the exposed wiring with Rotunda Coroplast Electrical Wire Harness Tape (RTTP part number NAI837X or equivalent) and reposition the harness to prevent future chaffing concerns. For claiming, use causal part 12A581 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
