2017 vehicles equipped with a 2.0L GTDI, 2.3L GTDI, or 2.5L PFI engine will either be equipped with a diamond washer on each side of a smooth-faced crankshaft timing sprocket (early build), or a crankshaft timing sprocket with laser etched faces and no diamond washers (late build). If equipped, diamond washers should be cleaned, inspected and reused, if undamaged. Diamond washers should never be installed along with a laser etched crankshaft timing sprocket. To recover the screen, perform a complete ignition cycle (key off, open and close the driver's door then wait 5 minutes). The SYNC software version of the vehicle can be confirmed via OASIS. Do not attempt any repairs at this time. Engineering is investigating; Monitor OASIS for updates.

For vehicle repairs refer to updated Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 205-02 on ATC clutch repairs. Use causal part 4A232 or equivalent and applicable labor operations.

Summary
Some 2016-2017 Ford/Lincoln vehicles SYNC 3 may exhibit an intermittent blank screen. Check for SYNC software update under the OASIS Tab SYNC selection. If update is available refer to WSM, Section 415-00 and update APIM software. During the update process the SYNC status bar shows Updating System Software for approximately 30 minutes. After Installation Complete pop-up appears, remove USB flash drive and install into IDS tool to update Ford database. Perform a complete ignition cycle by turning the key off for 5 minutes which is critical for a successful installation. If no updates are available or blank screen is present after an update refer to WSM, Section 415-00 for diagnosis or SYNC 3 intermittent blank screen GSB for tips. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the SLTS manual.

Some 2012-13 Focus and 2013 Escape/C-MAX vehicles may have the wrong part in the box for the BCM (base 14A068). The suspect service part number is GV6Z-14A068-G. The wrong part will have an engineering number of GV6T-14A073-GD and it will not work. The correct part will have engineering part number of GV6T-14A073-with a suffix of XA, XB, XC, or XF. Dealers should utilize the normal return process of a miss packaged part. Continue to monitor OASIS. When this concern is resolved, an update will be provided.

This will occur only at ambient temperatures ranging from -5 Å'C to 5 Å'C (23 Å'F to 41 Å'F). This maybe due to a temperature dependent issue within the APIM crystal oscillator circuitry. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Some 2017 Escape and MKC vehicles equipped with a 1.5L, 2.0L or 2.3L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0455, P0456, P144C and/or P1450 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) memory. Vehicles may also exhibit a rough idle and/or slow fuel fill concern. If normal diagnosis leads to the replacement of the canister purge valve then inspect for the presence of liquid fuel in the vapor lines at the EVAP canister purge valve and the EVAP canister. Liquid fuel should not be present in the EVAP canister purge valve, EVAP canister or any of the vapor lines. Engineering is investigating this concern. Monitor OASIS for updates.

CHECK TURBOCHARGER WASTEGATE CONTROL HOSES FOR WATER/ICE RESTRICTIONS OR PINCHING AT ZIP-TIE ON ENGINE CAM COVER RETAINER(2.7L AND 3.0L ONLY). IF RESTRICTION IS FOUND ON CAM COVER RETAINER, CUT ZIP TIE AND CLEAR DTCS. IF WATER/ICE RESTRICTION IS FOUND, DRAIN HOSES, REASSEMBLE AND CLEAR DTCS. IF DTCS RETURN, REFER TO WORKSHOP MANUAL (WSM) OR POWERTRAIN CONTROL EMISSIONS DIAGNOSIS (PCED) MANUAL FOR NORMAL DIAGNOSTICS. ENGINEERING IS INVESTIGATING THE CONCERN, MONITOR OASIS FOR FURTHER UPDATES.
