ENGINE
I bought this vehicle and within 2 hours engine light came on. It was diagnosed cylinder 1 misfire. After spending $700 later on spark plugs, engine coil pack, oil change, rear differential, and engine oil flush, it was diagnosed with a coolant leak into the engine. Within 3 weeks of buying the vehicle i now have to replace the whole engine. This is costly- and shouldn’t be happening. Ford should be replacing this free of cost with as many issues and people have this problem rather than just submitting a service bulletin.

ENGINE
Internal water pump failer - the water pump on my vehicle failed and began leaking. This is my wife's vehicle and if I had not noticed the issue (which is not easy to notice) then the water pump will leak water into the engine and cause the motor to lock up or seize without warning.

STEERING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
While driving my 2015 Ford Edge the Power Steering stopped working, the dashboard lite up. I stopped the SUV. and was unable to drive. I took it to my local garage and they pulled codes and diagnosed a bad Power Steering rack and pinon. Located a used one for $350.00 had that installed but did not work! I had to buy a new one at a cost of $1492.36 . The total cost between parts and labor was over $2500.00 The garage that did all the work took it upon it self to take apart the original Rack and Pinon to see what happened to it?? They found that the seal between the two halves on the Rack and Pinon had failed and that water had gotten into the unit and ruined the electronics inside it. The recall on the bolts was done , but problem should up shortly after? I FEEL THIS IS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE UNIT AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BY THE NHTSA further, because this could of caused a serious crash!!

VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM:REAR WINDOW:ELECTRICAL HEATING ELEMENT
Vehicle was parked inside my garage I had used earlier in the day. I heard a loud noise and went out to find the rear window had exploded on its own . There was bits of glass all over the garage floor and cracks running through the window and I could hear it popping as I stood there. Dealer stated this is not covered. The window was not damaged prior to exploding . When I contacted Safelite, they asked if it was an Edge, they had been seeing a few of them. I have photos available.

In reviewing the origin report; it appears the car was built from scrape and unknown to purchaser. Door may fall off! Inspected by Liberty Ford. Sold at well above lot price. No recall yet. Door may fall off etc.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that when she turns off the vehicle after driving and later attempts to restart, the vehicle would fail to start and the steering wheel would seize. The contact stated that the vehicle would indicate that there was a system reset, and the failure would reoccur. A jump start was required in order to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle would drive normally for a few days, and the failure would reoccur. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who checked the battery and alternator, which they found no issue with. The contact stated the dealer then advised her that there was a recall with the same failure she was experiencing on her same year, make, and model vehicle NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V733000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL), however, her vehicle was not included in the recall. The contact stated that she contacted the manufacturer and was advised to contact NHTSA. The failure mileage was 75,000

According to Bob Tomes Ford in McKinney, Texas, they are unable to rotate the tires on my vehicle because the lug nuts are swollen and would have to be cut off and replaced to fix. This leaves me with an unsafe vehicle and an inability to change the tire should I have a flat.

Driving on the interstate at 60 miles an hour the vehicle randomly lost all propulsion and died, which caused an immediate quick slowdown and almost caused a 4 car/semi pileup. Causing me to hit the ditch to avoid being killed by a semi. Vehicle no longer starts. Appears to be a faulty flexplate that caused engine and transmission issues to which Ford has been no help. FORD has only recalled the 2017 edge 2.0 for the flexplate issues despite the same engine being used in the 2015-2018 models. Countless mentions of faulty flex plates in the model year range with the same engine but Ford refuses to address the mass issue.

The flex plate on the vehicle has broken twice within 10000 miles. This is most certainly a manufacturer defect. The vehicle then runs rough, has a loss of power along with transmission shifting issues and can nearly die or not accelerate properly while driving, leading to several near collisions which could result serious injury or death.

LANE DEPARTURE: LANE KEEP: STEERING ASSIST
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 65-75 MPH, the Lane Keep Assist was veering the vehicle into another lane. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer who stated that the failure may be due to the CPU being corrupt. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
