I received a notice via OnStar of a P129 code of a critical issue with engine or transmission system on my 2020 Silverado pickup after I pulled on to the highway. Vehicle reduced engine power warning and engine light came on. I was forced to put vehicle in neutral and restart vehicle several times. This code indicates fuel pump control module being defective. After researching, there seems to be issues with this on the the following; General Motors has issued voluntary emission recalls (such as bulletins N252516900 and N262558690) for the fuel pump power control module on select 2021–2023 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC vehicles. The issue with my vehicle is the same.

I purchased four tires for my truck from Firestone, each rated for 60,000 miles. After approximately 30,000 miles, all four tires developed microcracking and visible damage. I suspect the issue may be related to the quality or composition of the materials used. I contacted the Firestone location where I had previously taken my vehicle for maintenance and tire service to have the tires inspected. While an employee was assisting me, I showed him photographs of the tires on the side of the computer counter to start the process to replace them, then manager approached to me rudely and disrespectfully asking me to go to the front, replaying to him : I am showing pictures of my tires asking me to leave the store just for that. Afterward, I had the tires inspected at Costco, where I was advised to replace them as soon as possible because represent a safety issue. For the safety of my family and myself, I replaced the tires for another brand. I subsequently filed a complaint with Firestone’s corporate office, but Firestone has declined to take responsibility for the condition of the tires asking to refund me the money I paid for the tires and a relief for the way I was treated. I am attaching pictures to show the condition of all tires and PDF File an email from Firestone.

I pulled over as fast as I could and by that time the smoke was pouring out from under hood. I turned engine off and I popped hood got out and slowly opened in case was on fire. It was not but I saw oil all over my engine and dripping from under vehicle. The front tire was covered with oil as well as down side of my truck. I saw where I pulled over a long oil streak. Oil kept leaking oil and large puddle formed under engine on side of road.

While towing a 24-foot Spartan enclosed racing trailer carrying a Bandolero race car and related equipment on [XXX], I began to feel a slight vibration from the vehicle or trailer. At first, I believed the vibration may have been caused by the road surface, but it steadily intensified. I slowed the truck to approximately 50 mph and activated my hazard lights. I could not initially determine whether the vibration was coming from the truck or trailer. Because I was concerned it could be tire-related, I monitored the truck’s tire-pressure display while my boyfriend monitored the trailer tire pressures. Neither system showed an abnormal pressure reading at that time. Shortly afterward, I heard a loud bang and safely moved onto the highway shoulder. After stopping, I observed that one of the truck tires had lost air pressure. The truck’s tire-pressure monitoring system then displayed zero pressure for that tire. I walked along the shoulder and found the tire tread completely separated from the tire casing several hundred feet behind the vehicle. I recovered and retained the separated tread. The tire remaining on the wheel/rim was missing the tread section that I recovered, indicating a complete tread delamination. The tires were installed on the vehicle when I purchased it on XXX. The vehicle had slightly more than 47,000 miles at the time of the incident, and the tires were original equipment tires. I took the vehicle to an OEM body shop for damage estimates. The body shop measured the remaining tire tread and determined that the tire wear was within reasonable specifications. The estimated total damage to the vehicle is $9,920.60. My [XXX] son and my boyfriend were traveling with me at the time of the incident. Although we were able to move safely to the shoulder, this tire failure created a serious safety concern while towing a loaded enclosed trailer on the highway. Tire size: LT275/65R20. Chafed or Broken Wiring Harness (Very Common) — This is the most frequent cause on newer GM vehicles. The factory wiring harness to the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor is too short or secured with an overly tight zip tie. Engine movement causes the LIN bus wire to chafe and break internally near the connector.

My transmission was shuttering from about 10,000 miles to 67,000. I reported it multiple times to the dealership and they did nothing about it until the 67,000 mark when they finally replaced it. the new transmission started to downshift very hard as soon as I got it back from the dealer and it just got worse I took it back and they had diagnosed that it was bad. They are in the process of replacing the transmission, a second time which would be my third transmission They’ve had my truck for 36 days. Clearly, General Motors and the dealership cannot figure out how to get my transmission to work properly. It’s a danger to my family and those on the road if it fails while on the highway.

- #11769380October 6, 2026STRUCTURE:BODY
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The factory paint coat/paint adhesion system (Exterior Summit White Finish) failed, resulting in early-stage delamination and separation of the topcoat directly from the electro-coat primer. The vehicle and affected body panels are intact, unaltered, and available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? (early-stage delamination and separation) Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. On XXX, I visited my local dealership in [XXX] and spoke directly with Service Manager Mr. Gerome. He inspected the issue and informed me that dealership-level assistance could not be applied because the vehicle is over 7 years old, advising me to contact GM Customer Assistance directly for a corporate goodwill review GM Customer Care evaluated photos: The issue was reviewed directly through GM Customer Care and Senior Executive Liaison Roman via photographs, but GM refused to acknowledge the factory paint adhesion defect or offer a remedy. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, the defect was formally submitted for review to General Motors Customer Care and Senior Executive Liaison Roman. No police or insurance inspections have occurred, as there has been no collision or external impact causing this failure. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lamps or digital messages occurred, as this is a physical surface material failure. The issue began as subtle surface lifting and small paint flakes detaching without any prior stone chips or scratches. The issue first appeared on [XXX]. - #11769391October 6, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE
I am reporting a safety concern involving my 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine. I purchased the vehicle new on August 3, 2026. The engine has unexpectedly shut off on two separate occasions while the vehicle was still moving at low speed. The first incident occurred within approximately the first week of ownership, when the truck had less than approximately 1,000 miles on it. I was slowly driving through the parking lot at McB’s when the engine unexpectedly shut off while the vehicle was still moving. The instrument panel displayed “Press Brake to Start.” The engine did not automatically restart, and I had to stop the vehicle and manually restart the engine. The second incident occurred on September 18, 2026, while I was slowly driving through a parking garage. Again, the vehicle was still moving when the engine unexpectedly shut off. The instrument panel displayed the same “Press Brake to Start” message. The engine did not automatically restart, and I again had to manually restart the vehicle. I have a video recording of this incident. This vehicle is equipped with automatic engine Stop/Start. During normal Stop/Start operation, “AUTO STOP” is indicated on the instrument panel when the system shuts the engine off. During neither of these two incidents did the instrument panel indicate “AUTO STOP.” Instead, the engine unexpectedly shut off while the vehicle was moving, displayed “Press Brake to Start,” and required a manual restart. Both incidents occurred while maneuvering at low speed in parking areas. I am concerned that the same failure could occur at a higher speed, while entering or crossing traffic, or in another situation where an unexpected loss of engine power could cause a collision. The vehicle has also experienced intermittent electrical/electronic issues, including radio interruptions, remote-start problems, a “Key Not Detected” message, memory-seat/seat-recall problems, and an intermittent power running-

On September 24, 2026, my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (5.3L V8, 10-speed automatic) suddenly stopped moving and the steering locked. The truck had to be towed to the Chevrolet dealer. This is a repeat failure. On June 17, 2026, at about 43,700 miles, the truck showed the warning "Service Transmission Now / Unable to Shift Soon" with code P07B4. The dealer ordered part 86277653 (automatic transmission shift control assembly), which was on backorder for weeks. Between June and September the truck was in the shop several times for the same problem and was returned to me as fixed. On September 24 the same failure came back, this time with loss of drive and locked steering. A truck that can suddenly lose drive and steering is a crash risk. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer. The vehicle has been at the dealer since September 24 and it is still not repaired. The complaint has been reported to GM Customer Assistance.

The 2026 Chevy 1500 Silverado 6.2L engine had a slight knocking sound from the date I purchased it brand new in march 2026. I was driving home on a evening in July 2026 and the truck began to squeak, knock very loudly and shake violently. The truck then locked up and completely shut off while I was driving 45 mph down the highway. The vehicle had approximately 3,000 miles on it when the incident occurred. The truck’s violent shaking and sudden loss of power while traveling 45 mph created an immediate risk in which I did not have control of the vehicle and could have caused me to be unable to safely maneuver out of traffic. Thank God there was light traffic at the time and also a wide empty parking lot straight ahead of me when the truck shut down. The incident also placed other drivers in danger of colliding with my disabled vehicle or taking sudden evasive action that could cause an accident. I had it towed directly to the dealership service department and according to their report, "found catastrophic internal engine failure."

I was traveling on a 55mph road. My Chevy Silverado started to shake and lose propulsion. I pulled off on the side of the road. In idle it shook. The dealership was one mile to my south. I turned on the hazard lights and went to the dealership. I could only get the vehicle to 45mph as in shook very bad the whole way. It felt as if the engine was going to explode the whole way there. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where it has been initially diagnosed as a bad lifter.

Vehicle braking does not work- since new- dealer said it was funcitioning- sometimes you will get the warning and other times it does not and it never brakes. Transmission- i received a letter to bring truck in to have a software update for modulator valve wear....which was performed...since that time the stator and the torque converter were replaced in September/October of 2025. it was in dealership approx. 6 weeks for the repairs. Since that time i have had the vehicle roll forward when in reverse and pedal depressed, I have had hard shifts when shifting into gear at a stop, severe enough to lurch the truck forward and break traction....i have started having three to four downshifts very abrupt and very hard when decreasing speed. Dealership does not act like they want to do anything about it.
