While driving with my trailer my Tailgate opened by itself and hit my trailer when backing up. There is a open recall for a faulty switch that may allow the Tailgate to open unexpectedly. I called my dealer and said they could only replace the faulty switch and not my damaged tailgate. It was due to the faulty switch that led to my Tailgate getting damaged. I believe this switch and my Tailgate need to replaced.

Unknown. The transmission is kicking really bad. There are recalls on other vehicles similar to ours that are having the same issue. It has been doing this for a while now. It shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear and when coming to a complete stop it also jerks. Also at times the check engine light comes on and it will not shift at all. I am afraid this is going to cause an accident.

While turning left, the transmission stuttered and got stuck in first gear. I did some basic research and learned that this is a known issue with 2020-2022 Chevrolet Silverado vehicles. I attempted the suggested fix which worked briefly. I then took the vehicle to my local Chevrolet dealer for repairs. After further research I learned that this is a known issue with my year and model of Silverado. GM further voluntarily offered a 15 year, 150,000 mile warranty for this issue. According to GM, my particular VIN is not included in this recall. I am concerned as to how many other trucks are not included. This issue also cost nearly $4,000 for the repair.

RE: FORMAL COMPLAINT–RECALL FRAUD & VIN TAMPERING SUBJECT: Falsified Recall N252494000 & 18 U.S.C. § 511 Violations VEHICLE: 2023 Chevy Silverado (VIN: [XXX] ) INCIDENT: March 7, 2026 FROM: [XXX] | [XXX] I am reporting severe Federal Recall Fraud and VIN tampering by Kunes Auto Group (WI). GM records and physical evidence prove Kunes falsified Safety Recall N252494000 (L87 Loss of Propulsion) and sold an illegally rebuilt wreck with mismatched VINs. 1. Falsified Recall: On 4/9/2024, Kunes logged a PicoScope Inspection marking the recall "Passed" (Trans #XX-XXX). The NHTSA remedy requires installing a 0W-40 oil cap/flush. When the engine seized on 3/7/2026, it still had the factory 0W-20 cap. Kunes billed GM for a safety remedy never performed. 2. Concealed Defects: Despite the "Closed" recall, the truck exhibited L87 defect symptoms. I brought it to Kunes three times (Oct 2025 - Feb 2026). They dismissed the warnings and released the truck as safe. 3. VIN Fraud (18 U.S.C. § 511): The 2023 truck has 2025-stamped frame/axle parts. Holz Motors (authorized GM) blacklisted it on 3/6/2026 (RO #1583470), stating in writing: "DUE TO... MISMATCHED VINS DOOR TO DASH, SALVAGED REAR AXLE... HOLZ WILL NOT BRING THIS TRUCK IN." 4. Highway Failure: On 3/7/2026, the L87 motor suffered total Loss of Propulsion at 70 MPH in traffic. The sudden loss of power steering/braking nearly caused a multi-vehicle fatality. REQUESTED ACTION: 1. Audit Kunes’s PicoScope data for the 4/9/2024 transaction. 2. Investigate remedy fraud (missing 0W-40 cap). 3. Investigate tampered/mismatched VINs and off-the-books rebuild. 4. Sanction dealer for fraudulent safety certifications. I declare under penalty of perjury these statements are true. The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the battery failed. The battery was replaced, and the next day the same failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the tailgate suddenly opened without the vehicle being started. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); however, the VIN was not available. The recall information suggested that water was entering the vehicle and causing an electrical short. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the liftgate exterior release assembly had failed, Part Number: 85734717, and needed to be replaced with a new Part Number: 85877552. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,689.

In 2024, the vehicle began experiencing severe jerking and drivability issues that appear to be transmission-related. We first took the vehicle to Terry Cullen Chevrolet in Southlake. The vehicle remained in the shop for months while still under warranty, yet the issue was never properly resolved. Attempts to communicate with management were largely unsuccessful, and we received little support in addressing the problem. Following guidance from Chevrolet corporate customer service, we then took the vehicle back to the original dealership, Nash Chevrolet in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Nash Chevrolet also held the truck for several months without resolving the issue. During this time, my husband who is self-employed in the home renovation industry—was left without adequate transportation. Because his work requires a truck, he was unable to complete scheduled projects, resulting in an estimated loss of $50,000–$60,000 in income. After the vehicle was returned to us, the same issue occurred again. When we attempted to contact Nash Chevrolet for assistance, our calls were no longer returned. We were forced to seek help elsewhere and brought the truck to a GMC/Buick dealership in Newnan, Georgia. The vehiche is unsafe to drive and after further research found this information and this is exactly the issue we have experience out of this truck making it unsafe to drive-8-Speed Transmission Issues (2015-2019): Litigation exists for 2015–2019 Silverados equipped with Hydra-Matic 8-speed transmissions, alleging rough shifting, hesitation, and vibration.

- #11723279March 10, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, ENGINE
I am reporting a catastrophic internal engine failure in a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 at 87,600 miles. Prior to this event, there were NO warning lights or symptoms. While traveling alone during the holiday on a remote, one-lane road with no shoulder, the vehicle suddenly suffered a loss of power. Every warning light on the dashboard illuminated at once, followed by shaking, misfiring, and loud knocking from the engine. Because I was on a one-lane road with no place to pull over, this created an immediate safety hazard for me and oncoming traffic. I had the car towed to the dealership ( where I bought the truck) confirmed the failure was a collapsed lifter and scored camshaft (which i found out to be a known design flaw in the 5.3L DFM engine). The dealer said it was not under warranty. I felt held over a barrel by the dealership; they initially provided an inflated quote and told me it would cost approximately $1,200, not including tax and shop fees, just to put the engine back together if I wanted to tow it elsewhere for a second opinion. I was forced to pay over $8,395 under protest just to regain use of my primary vehicle after 42 days of downtime. Upon completion, the dealer provided a "Lifetime Warranty" on the replacement parts. This is a tacit admission that these components were never intended to fail during the life of the vehicle. GM refuses to include this vehicle in its coverage list, treating a dangerous engine stall as a simple "out of warranty" repair. This is a systemic safety defect that requires a mandatory recall expansion before it results in a terrible accident. My understanding is that a Class Action lawsuit, Harrison vs. General Motors, for this same thing, but they say my car is not in it, i should have been put on notice for this so I could protect myself.

I brought my vehicle to the dealership on March 7, 2026, to address the outstanding safety recall. However, I was informed that the recall repair cannot be completed until I first pay $1,100 to replace the idler pulley. Unfortunately, an unexpected $1,100 expense is not currently in my budget. It is quite concerning to continue driving a vehicle with a known risk of losing propulsion, as the increased risk of a crash is a significant safety worry for me. I would appreciate any assistance or alternative solutions you can provide to ensure this safety recall is resolved. Please find the message from the dealership: Additional Diagnostic recommendations: we are going to want to get the Idler pulley replaced 1st as it can cause unwanted noise and vibration during the testing with the Pico scope. after the repair take the vehicle on a good test drive get it good and warm Then retest the engine with the Pico scope and proceed with those test results. we still want to make sure it is tested correctly If the engine passes just note under Special Coverage N252494003 This special coverage covers if an engine failure occurs in the vehicle as a result of the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership."

I went to Chevy in Warwick Rhode Island a few months back after all my adaptive cruise control and lane departure stuff stopped working. They reset it and it was fine for a couple months and now it isn’t working again. I went there and they said that my camera is not getting enough power and they have seen so many of these problems happening with these trucks but still no recall. Was waiting to get one because there should be a recall on these if so many trucks are having issues with it

Master Brake Cylinder failed according to dealership. This however is the second time this issue has occurred. This system failure caused brakes to not respond correctly leading to risk of collision. My safety and my kid's safety was put at risk due to issue happening while vehicle was in drive. Part was initially replaced in April of 2025 and issue has occurred two more times since then in December of 2025 and February of 2026. Vehicle has been inspected by dealership multiple times but has not been fixed. Symptoms of issue included clicking sound when pressing brake pedal and becomes stiff. There were warning in the dash and lights: "Brake System Failure", "43MPH Top Speed", "Service ESC" and "Service Brake System". Along with Check Engine light, Brake light and Traction Control light.
