- #11725948March 20, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, STEERING
Intermittent issue where info says brake failure/steering assist not working/limited speed to 43 mph. Very dangerous if you’re on the interstate. Becomes hard to steer, brakes don’t work, brakes start burning up. Have to carry tools with me to reset ecm. Very common problem with Silverado with 5.3 gas engine. Chevy needs to fix this issue before someone gets killed. I would give them my truck back if I could.

The vehicle is currently exhibiting a loud, rhythmic metallic ticking/tapping noise from the top of the engine. This is a known precursor to a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power as documented in GM Service Bulletins PIP5847A and PIP6101. The cause is attributed to manufacturing debris within the hydraulic valve lash adjusters, which prevents proper lubrication and causes valvetrain desynchronization. This defect leads to severe engine misfires (DTC P0300), "Reduced Engine Power" mode, and potential engine seizure. 1. Component/System: The 2.7L L3B Engine Valvetrain / Hydraulic Lash Adjusters. The vehicle is available for inspection. 2. Safety Risk: The audible ticking indicates imminent mechanical failure. This defect causes sudden and unexpected loss of motive power at highway speeds. Driving in this condition puts me at extreme risk of being stranded in active traffic or losing power while merging/passing, creating an immediate risk of high-speed rear-end collisions. GM is aware of this debris-related defect via TSBs but has not issued a safety recall to prevent the resulting power loss. 3. Dealer Confirmation: Yes, confirmed by Chevrolet dealer on 3/18/26. The dealer knows about this particular issue, and decided not to act. 4. Inspection History: Inspected by authorized Chevrolet service technician. 5. Warning Symptoms: Loud metallic ticking/clacking that increases with engine RPM. This is a known precursor to a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power as documented in GM Service Bulletins PIP5847A and PIP6101.

The transmission malfunctioned 4 times in the first 3 weeks of ownership. Once on the way home from the dealer, but I could not return as they were closing when I picked up my new 2026 Silverado 2500HD pick up. It has 2 issues so far since that ride home, 2 times, on separate occasions, I was approaching a red light and slowing down when the light changed while I was in a slow speed, so I accelerated to get to the speed limit, while doing so, the truck hesitated for a couple of seconds then banged into gear. The second time for that same scenario was several days after resulting in the same hesitation and then bang into gear. No warning lights were reveled. I called the local Chevy dealership, as instructed by the dealership I purchased it from was 107 miles away, they gave me an appointment to investigate the problem. Upon arriving, I needed to back up to align my vehicle with the entrance to the service area and my truck would not go into reverse. I tried 2 times shifting from park to reverse and nothing, I put it back into park while still running and went into the service area explaining my new issue, the service writer got a mechanic and he tried shifting into park with no luck. He then shut off the engine, waited about 30 seconds, restarted the engine and shifted into reverse and it worked. They checked for codes and none were present, so they test drove it for about 20 minutes, did not experience either symptom and email GM service assistance and were told to have me come back and they would check the parameters and make sure the software was updated as well as the transmission fluid level and condition. I returned for them to accomplish those tasks and drove home, 2 miles, and had no issues till the trip I was going on today, I warmed up the vehicle as it was only 37 degrees today and when I put it in reverse, it did not engage, so I shifted into drive, it engaged then I put it in reverse and it did finally engage. Now I'm going to renotify the dealership

On 03/13/26, I was taking a family trip when all of a sudden my 2021 chevy silverado (with 6.2L v8) began to lose power and shake uncontrollably causing me to make an emergency roadside stop. Fortunately, traffic was light and I was able to avoid a collision. I immediately heard a loud knocking sound coming from my engine and several check engine safety lights were displayed. On 3/16, I brought my truck to a local GM dealership and was advised that I needed a complete new engine replacement due to catastrophic engine failure because my rods and crankshaft had blown in my engine. The dealership checked for recalls on my truck but were surprised that my vin did not pull up a recall even though there was a recent major engine recall (# N252494000) issued for my exact model truck with the same issues my truck displayed. It should be noted that my vehicle had less than 24,000 miles on it and I have kept up with regular oil change and maintenance service and that before this issue I have had zero issues with this vehicle. To make matters worse my powertrain warranty expired 2 months prior to this incident so I am having to pay out of pocket over $12k for a new engine. On 03/19/26, I contacted Chevy but was told there was nothing they could do for me and stated that NHTSA would have to get my vehicle added to the recall. I am requesting that my vehicle and others like it get added to this massive engine recall so I can get reimbursed for my new engine and also to protect other families from possibly being involved in a major unavoidable crash. Thanks in advance for your help!

- #11725607March 19, 2026SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I was a front seat passenger in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and was properly wearing my seatbelt at the time of the incident. The vehicle struck a deer, and during the collision, the passenger seatbelt failed to properly restrain me. I was thrown forward and struck the windshield. The seatbelt did not appear to lock or tighten as expected during impact. It is unknown whether the seatbelt pretensioner or airbag system activated properly. This created a serious safety risk, as the seatbelt did not perform its intended function of restraining the occupant during a crash. The vehicle was declared a total loss following the incident and is no longer available for inspection. The incident was documented through insurance and/or police reports. There were no known warning lights or prior indications of a problem with the seatbelt system before the crash. This failure resulted in occupant injury risk due to lack of proper restraint during the collision.

I was driving the truck on my way to work in [XXX] , last March 12, 2026, at around 6:50 am. It was raining when I entered the exit ramp to work going west; the truck died, and the steering wheel locked. I tried to start it, but it wouldn't. The dashboard displayed: 'Trailer Park Brake Failed,' 'Power Steering Pump Needs Service,' and 'Axle Repair Error.' I was on the exit ramp for a highway that runs north and south, and I could have been t-boned; it was still dark. The truck was towed to Curry Chevrolet in Scarsdale. They said it was the ECM and ordered the part. They installed the new ECM module last Tuesday, March 17. The service manager called me and said they tested the truck, but it is still showing active codes. A GM advisor called me saying the truck should be ready for pickup this Friday. However, this afternoon, I got a call from the service manager saying there is another issue—the engine wiring harness—and they will order the part; now it will not be ready until next week. GM owes me my life. I do not want to drive the vehicle. The service department people at Curry Chevrolet are very professional, but did I pay and spend a lot of money for a garbage truck? I was driving in the rain 3 nights ago when my Chevy Silverado unexpectedly started shaking very bad , jerking while trying to brake, surging forward and total loss of acceleration. My dash lights were blinking and I was scared ,I had no idea what was going on. Since our family are loyal Jba customers( we own 2 silverados) and payed for the extended warranty and certified warranty I drove straight there and explained what happened. I was scared and crying, just diagnosed with Vulva Cancer stage lllC. Well the truck has been in the shop at jba diagnosed with bad Cam shift rod and lifts. They want $10,300.00 for repair. Even though we've been with them so long and had every maintenance done through them they weren't helpful in helping. Can someone help me? I need to be able to get to John's Hopkins for my cancer treatments. I've looked up this issue and it looks VERY common. Please, help me. Jba had me sign a document so the dates can be verified.

The truck engine light came on and was not able to be driven very far without stalling. Took it for repair and 2 valve lifters were bad. We had to pay for replacement ourselves. This happened at 41,786 miles. This happened again at 46,000 miles because of faulty GM parts and they needed to be replaced again. The parts were under warranty so there was no charge. This happened again at 59,000 miles and now both side lifters are bad and mechanic suggested engine replacement since he is sure this will happen again. Now it’s costing us 15,300 to repair it and GM/Chevrolet is not helping or do they care! First incident was in April 2023, second in November 2023 and now in December 2025.

I was driving down the highway and the vehicle suddenly shutoff without any warning. I coasted down an off-ramp and came to a stop in the middle of a round about. The vehicle would not re-fire and had to be towed to dealership. When at dealership it was discovered the engine failed. This is a 2024 6.2 liter engine that was not included in recall. I could have caused an accident on the highway as I suddenly lost power. People who were included in this recall received a 10 year 150K warranty on the new engine. My truck should be included in that.
