The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH with cruise control activated, the vehicle shuddered and multiple warning lights illuminated, including the check engine, check oil, fasten seatbelt, traction control, and brake warning lights. The vehicle experienced steering overcorrection and lost power. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and slowly driven to an independent mechanic shop, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the first and second pistons and lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 101,000.

When shutting the vehicle off, I repeatedly get a “shift to park” error message. The truck will not shut down fully until this message goes away and can drain the battery. I have read this is a common Chevy problem in other models and others who I have talked to have the same issue. The local dealer wanted $170 just to scan it even though I feel they know the issue. The problem started right after the warrant expired and GM sent through a “software push notification” with no explanation what it was for. This feels too coincidental for me and GMs response was to take it to the dealer, not covered by warranty.

The engine lifters and camshaft started to fail at 114,000 miles. I had to have it repaired at a dealership and it cost over $10,000. I had completed all recommended maintenance prior to the failure. 500 miles after that repair was completed, my transmission overheated and completely left me stranded on the side of the road. I had to have it repaired at a dealership which cost $$8,000

I have a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a 3.0 Duramax diesel engine, Have had a check engine light intermittent a couple times. Vehicle went into limp mode. Had the diagnostic code read; P1010. Code P1010 shows an engine coolant flow control valve position sensor exceeded minimum learning limit. General Motors has issued a special warranty N252508341covering 2021-2023 Silverado 1500 for this part ( LM2 coolant control valve replacement ) with a 15 year and 150,000 mile limit. I took my vehicle to the Chevrolet dealer and they said my VIN number was not covered. It would be a $1900 repair. I have read of numerous other of same vehicles listed under the special warranty, yet GM has excluded these VIN numbers as well. This is a known defect, GM has covered some but not all. Yet many are NOT covered yet having the same problem. I am not able to reach anyone at GM to talk about this issue. It needs to be addressed.

While shifting my vehicle from Park, a "Service Transmission" warning message appeared on the dashboard. The warning would illuminate and then disappear, but the vehicle continued to shift into the other gears. At the time the issue occurred, my truck had only 47,000 miles. I brought it to Blasius Chevrolet in [XXX] on XXX, for diagnosis. The dealership determined that the Transmission Control Assembly (Part # XXX) had failed and needed to be replaced. I was informed that this repair was not covered under the powertrain warranty because Chevrolet considers the Transmission Control Assembly to be excluded from powertrain coverage, and my basic warranty had already expired. I was quoted more than $900 for parts and labor. Initially, I was told the replacement part would arrive within a few days. Later, the technician stated that other Chevrolet dealerships had the part in stock. However, after contacting those dealerships, he was told they would not release their inventory. Chevrolet then advised that the part was on national backorder, with the earliest estimated availability of XXX. As a result, I have been without my truck for approximately one month, creating a significant hardship. After researching this issue, I found numerous reports from other Chevrolet owners experiencing the same failure involving the Transmission Control Assembly. The apparent frequency of these failures, combined with the nationwide backorder of the part, suggests this may be a widespread defect rather than normal wear and tear. I believe Chevrolet should either: Cover this repair under the powertrain warranty, as it directly affects the operation of the transmission, or Issue a recall or warranty extension if this is determined to be a common defect affecting vehicle safety and reliability. I am submitting this complaint because I am concerned that a failure of the Transmission Control Assembly could impact the safe operation of the vehicle. We purchased our 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 in XXX, it was discovered in the purchase process that the vehicle had an active recall on the engine which was pending a "fix." This was completely downplayed by the dealership as a minor issue that would be addressed. We waited several weeks for the "fix," which was essentially a change in the oil viscosity. On XXX, our [XXX] son, was out of town, driving the vehicle, which suddenly lost all power on the highway leaving him completely stranded. The vehicle would not turn over at all or even shift into neutral. There were no warning signs, no sensors activated, in fact, the Chevy App showed (and still shows) the vehicle as "everything looks good" "no diagnostic issues!" We had the vehicle towed back to our hometown/dealership (Missoula, Chevrolet in Missoula, MT), where it has now been determined, the engine completely seized up/failed, the original "fix" was not adequate, and we are now waiting for a new engine to be put into the vehicle! After reading about other vehicle owners experiences, I am quite skeptical of the new engine as there have been multiple experiences where the new engines had the same issue. This recall is impacting the safety of drivers, most concerning was our [XXX] left stranded in a rural area with very spotty cell service, and the vehicle would not even shift to neutral to get it to a safer area, this needs to be addresses as soon as possible to prevent others from being put into this situation. Since buying the vehicle I’ve had issues with the truck going into limp mode with codes p0700 as well as p0747. I have taken it to the dealership twice now, when it has arrived the codes were no longer there. Every time the truck went into limp mode the transmission would get stuck into 5th gear stuck at 45 mph. The problem with the truck started at 48,000 miles, the truck currently has 60,000 miles and the problem has been more active. With the dealership not wanting to resolve the issue the truck was taken to another shop to try to fix the transmission.

Truck stutters and idles terrible. Vehicle warning light keeps saying, reduce acceleration and drive safely. Two years ago an injector went bad, and it was fixed. 6 months ago, we had it in the shop, of course still under the 60k mile warranty. Said it was fixed, it wasn’t. Just had it back there, and they replaced the the torque converter. Shaking stopped for a month. Now it is even worse. Believe it is faulty injectors. Sadly, we’re not passed the 60k warranty period and feel unsafe driving our truck which we need every single day. Truck is nearly paid off and feel like we got jipped as this truck continues to have problems after problems

Truck continues to shutter after having the torque converter replaced and the 2nd injector replaced. Been in the shop several times over the last few years, and still giving warnings on the dash saying, reduce acceleration drive safely. Feel like we just got a terrible vehicle. Almost paid off, and it’s just unreliable. Sadly we need this truck every single day, and the local dealerships have now pushed the problem out so far that we’re passed out 60k warranty period.

- #11748371July 5, 2026TIRES:TREAD/BELT, TIRES
While pulling car trailer down the interstate on 6-27-26 at 70mph, my Free Country ST205/75R16 D106 10 ply trailer tire with less than 200 miles on it blew out. This was the spare for 2 years and has 9/32 tread depth on it still. I recently this spring rotated it to the LR of the trailer. Pieces of the tire blew onto and hit a passing SUV. Luckily nobody was hurt and I was able to get to the shoulder with only some fender damage. The tire was changed and with research I found the warranty was only 1 year. I was not happy with this, but moved on and bought another tire to replace it. Yesterday 7-4-26 I pulled the same trailer and upon arriving to my destination noticed another one of the tires that was purchased at the same time is separated badly all the way around and is on the verge of blowing out. This tire has been on the trailer since I bought the set of tires new, and has just under 8/32 tread left. These tires are under 3 years old, and used well under weight capacity. I keep them aired up near the max to save gas, and check them regularly. I cannot be the only one having problems if 2 out of the 5 I bought are coming apart already. Ultimately these are a safety hazard. If that had been a motorcycle beside me, or a large enough chunk flew off. Someone could have been killed. Pics available upon request.

At 144k I had to replace the passenger lifters because cylender 8 (linked to AFM) was stuck. I got that repaired. At 147k I had to get my passenger side lifters replaced again. 2 months later at about 152k I had to replace drivers side lifters. At this point 152k ive had all lifters replaced. Passenger side twice. Now at 157k my bottom end is bad. I was driving and boom no power. That could of been bad. Ive spent so god damn much money on this truck due to the AFM. Its ridiculous. Now I have to spend 8k on a new engine. Ive spent a total of 12k in repairs to this truck. There has to be something done to compensate. Because of your guyses shitty engineering im going into debt. Its insane
