The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that after coming to a stop, the check engine warning light illuminated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact continued to depress the accelerator pedal and the vehicle shuddered with the "Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care" message displayed on the instrument panel. The failure persisted, and the contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The mechanic used a code reader, which showed that a bolt on the timing belt gear had scraped the engine block which caused metal shavings to enter the engine. The vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and the contact was provided with an estimate for a new engine. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

I was driving my 2021 Silverado when i was stopped at a 4 way waiting my turn. When it was my turn i made a left hand turn and and travelled a short distance going 20-25 mph when my engine made an odd sound and shut off in traffic!. I attempted to restart it and it did noting. Truck was towed to Hendricks Chevrolet where the truck was bought and received regular maintenance. When the truck stopped in traffic there were no warning lights on the dash before during or after. Once the truck was at the dealership for inspection i was advised That the motor was sized and that number 1 and 2 rod bearings failed and were ground in the crank journals. I asked how could that happen when the the truck has had regular oil changes by them and is there an issue with these engines? I was told that they see a few 6.2 engines with these types of issues.

I had my windshield replaced and the installer said when he removed the old glass, the bottom of the glass didn't have the rubber strip accross the bottom. Our rear sliding window has had a small leak, so we asked him to check it out too. He noticed that the window also does not have the rubber weather seal.

On [XXX] at [XXX] while driving at highway speeds (70-75 mph) on [XXX] , I experienced engine failure in my 2024 chevy silerado zr2. Within seconds, the truck began to lose engine power, the check engine light came on, a transmission warning displayed, the truck shook violently and lost electrical power and power steering. I was able to get to the shoulder in less than a minute and the truck shut down completely. After exiting the truck, I observed smoke, the smell of fire and engine oil/ fluids all over the ground. There were no warning lights or symptoms prior to the engine failing. The sudden loss of power and power steering could have resulted in an accident. The vehicle has been inspected by a certified chevy dealer and they have verbally confirmed engine failure. i have not been provided any documentation or formal updates on the process. I was driving my truck and lost full power to the truck. Which happened as I was pulling out of a parking. The truck went into a limp mode. With the truck losing full power, it put my child and I into a safety risk. The truck got repaired at the dealership. The dealer was able to reproduce the issue. The truck was inspected at the dealership. Warning system did come on saying speed would be limited if (roughly 150 miles to a max 65mph). When I called another dealership, they said this was a normal thing for these trucks and chevy hasn't fixed it. I feel like if its a known issue with the wiring becoming free, why would they not proactively fix this issue before someone gets hurts from thinking they have the power to drive. The dealership that I took this too knew where to look right away as this is common.

During gear down-shift the rear wheels briefly lock up. This event can be duplicated easily at around 45mph, by slowing due to uphill grade or slowing traffic, then upon normal application of throttle to resume course the transmission shifts to next lowest gear (3 or 4, not sure) there occurs a brief and sudden horrendous jerk as the rear wheels lock & skid. The event lasts less than 1/4 sec, but happens multiple times per day as that speed/load condition is frequent. On occasion, the same can occur in a parking lot ~10mph, but isn't as violent. The first occurrence was at mileage 38,000; the vehicle now has 45,000 miles. This appears to be the same issue as NHTSA Recall No 24V-797, which does not include my vehicle's production year.

- #11650275March 24, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I’ve had 3 occasions of this brand new vehicles front collision avoidance system going off HARD and locking up the brakes. It scared the crap out of me as there was nothing in front of me - if I hadn’t known the truck had automatic collision software - I’d have driven to the Chevy Dealership right then. The first time I thought it was a fluke. The second time it really caught me off guard. The third time (inside 2 months) I realized there is something not right. I reported it to the dealership but they wanted me to trade it in for a new truck. Sorry, no. I just want to report this problem as I’ve seen a recall on other vehicles with 10 speed transmissions. Their shifting problem - is also present in the Chevy Silverado Truck - but it has not impacted my use of….

While driving on the interstate at 75 MPH, the vehicle lost all motive power. No warning light was illuminated. I pulled over to the right side of the road and attempted to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. It was -30 degrees outside and it was dark. I had passengers in my vehicle, and we were stuck with no power or heat on the interstate. The vehicle could not be put into neutral to be moved off the interstate because there was the vehicle would not turn on. This was an extremely unsafe and dangerous situation for me and my passengers. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the engine was not available for replacement. The vehicle is still at the dealership and has been there for 2 months. The approximate failure mileage was approx. 19,000 miles.

transmission temprature excessively high, there is a TSB#21-NA-199 Document[XXX] on Thermo bypass vlave on 2018 trucks 6 speed transmissions. 200 degree transmission temp is too high. Service advisor originally said thats normal, after high temp issue a 5th time. I referenced the TSB #21-NA-199 to the dealership service advisor, Advisor said bring it in. Dealer replaced the original Thermo 198 degree transmission bypass valve with Gm's recommended 158 degree trans bypass vlave. Delaer proceeded to charged me $200 diagnostic fee and $167 for part and $258 for labor Total cost was $658 from Holz Morots Hales Corners Wisconsin. My truck was purchased in 2020 and I recieved the full 6 year warranty vehicle currently has 57,000 miles. Im within 60,000 drive train warranty. Dealer claims TSB is not part of the drive train warranty therefor not covered. How's that possible, a drive train is damaged by excessive heat and the thermo bypass valve of 198, creates excessive heat in the transmission destroying countless chevrolet transmissions. My position is: if the Thermo Bypass transmission vlave is not part of the drive train, then what is it doing in my transmission which moves the vehicle? I want to file a complaint, I want Chevrolet to stand behind the product they built and sold . Dodging responsibility on technicality is how Chevrolet will lose buyers. I'm very unhappy with the way I was treated with zero responsibility for the GM product. The dealership would not provide any type of discount .. too add insult to injury the dealer charged me a diagnostic fee after lengthy conversation on the problem which is absurd and offensive to any consumer. I paid and I said to myself, Chevrolet just lost a great customer because of a lousy policy claiming the thermo by pass valve is not part of the drive train ... Bleed the consumer for a repair on the failures created by the manufacturer. Its under warranty on top of it all.. A well-documented and increasingly widespread problem related to excessive rust on the frames of many vehicles in this particular model year range. The cause of the problem appears to stem from a poorly applied or degrading wax coating, which, over time, peels off, leaving the frame exposed to corrosion, particularly in harsh weather conditions such as heavy snow and road salt exposure. The result is catastrophic—my Silverado’s frame and crossmembers are now severely compromised, and the integrity of the vehicle is in question.

The symptoms since the beginning of 2024 have been that when braking between 7 and 10 mph, you feel a bump or a skid, and when you stop, the engine shakes for a moment as if it's going to shut off. This happens with the Auto Stop-Start off. A sudden braking moment can affect the vehicle's performance, making it difficult to control and increasing the risk of accidents, especially when it comes to a pickup truck that may have a trailer with cargo or objects in the bed that can be thrown. The trailer can even leave the road, losing control of the car. In 2024, I took the truck to the place where I bought it, Bomnin Chevrolet Dadeland, for a checkup. I explained all the symptoms to my advisor, just as I do here. I had to take it to wait for a loaner. A few days later, I took it back, and they had it for almost a week. When I picked it up, my advisor told me everything was fine. When I left the dealership, I found the same symptoms, so I went back and told him the car was still doing the same thing, and he told me it was normal. After much insistence, he got in the car with me to show him the problem, and the car did it several times, but according to him, it was normal. Now, in 2025, a week ago I took it to Miami Lakes Auto Mall to get checked out with the same symptoms and explanation. I started investigating why that couldn't possibly be normal car operation. They found they had to replace the torque converter and valve body because they found an excessive amount of metal in the transmission. The valve body is on back order indefinitely at all dealerships, so I had to take the car in that condition. Before taking it, I spoke with the manager and GM to ask them to give me a car until they fixed mine because it wasn't right for me to drive the car like that. But they didn't offer me anything. I took it back to Bomnin Chevrolet Dadeland and they told me they were going to change the transmission and torque converter and conveniently they didn't have to change the valve.
