This condition may be caused by the Clutch Select Solenoid Valve 2 (359), located in the lower valve body, sticking in its bore resulting in a 4th gear start. Note: This condition can be very intermittent and difficult to duplicate.

After the technician has performed the repairs for the Diagnostic Trouble Code found during inspection, technician will find that the Diagnostic Trouble Code will not clear. Technician will need to turn the ignition off, unplug the Trailer Brake Control module for at least 30 seconds, reconnect the module, and check for any Driver Information Center messages or Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

THIS BULLETIN PROVIDES A SERVICE PROCEDURE TO INSTALL A MIRROR SWITCH, BEZEL AND WIRE HARNESS IN CERTAIN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH POWER OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS (RPO DL8 OR DPN). THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITHOUT A MIRROR ADJUSTMENT SWITCH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR PAD CAUSING THE INABILITY TO ADJUST THE GLASS POSITION OF THE POWER OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR.

SummaryThis Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about being to achieve pre-load when setting up the pinion bearing pre-loads during reassembly of the 9.5/9.76 inch rear axles. Technician will need to use pinion gear install washer part number 11609638 onto the pinion shaft between the flange and nut. Tighten the pinion nut until you achieve 10 pound inch or 1.0 newton rotating torque. After the torque has been achieved back the nut off and remove the washer. Tighten the nut back down until you achieve 15 pound inch or 1.7 newton meters for used bearings or 20 pound inch 2.25 newton meters for new bearings.
