SummaryThis Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that in the radio settings some of the vehicle personalization selections within the Comfort and Convenience menu are missing at times. Technician will need to perform a scan for Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Technician will need to follow published Service Information diagnostics if there are Diagnostic Trouble Codes present. If the concern is and intermittent this Preliminary Information communication will be updated with a repair. When the personalization selections are not missing from the Comfort and Convenience menu but they are missing from other menus such as the Climate and Air Quality, Collision/Detection Systems, and Lighting menus, refer to bulletin 17-NA-086. Memory seat adjustments may not be available tech will need to perform a Memory Seat Module replacement/programming.

SummaryGeneral Motors released Emission Recall 17337 and Service Update 17419 on November 1, 2017. After their release, a change occurred in Tis2Web that affects the involved 2018 model year Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD vehicles. This change prevents programming of the engine control module (ECM) and transmission control module (TCM) separately. Tis2Web now requires the ECM and TCM in these full-size trucks to be programmed sequentially. Consequently, dealers are confused and asking for guidance relative to labor code submission requirements. Again, the Tis2Web change only affects the involved 2018 model year Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD vehicles

Summary17426 - Service Update. Certain vehicles, equipped with the manual shift transfer case (RPO NQG), may have a condition in which the transfer case shift linkage rod bolt torque is less than specified. Over time this bolt could loosen enough to allow the transfer case shift indicator to be inaccurate; or the bolt could fall off causing the transfer case to remain in its previous position and the shifter to be non-functional. Tighten the transfer case shift linkage rod bolt to the specified torque.

On certain vehicles that are equipped with a diesel engine (RPO LML/LGH/LUZ), a malfunction-indicator light (MIL) may illuminate due to an offset in the temperature sensor in the diesel-emission-reduction fluid (DEF) tank reservoir or increased DEF tank-heater resistance. Dealers are to replace the DEF tank reservoir. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

SummaryThis Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps need to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have stalling shudder and/or hard shifting into 1st gear or reverse vibration on launch (with excessive crankshaft end play). Technician will test to determine if the crank shaft end play is within specification 0.0015–0.0086 inch. If end play is found to be out of specification, remove engine and inspect for possible crankshaft thrust bearing and/or crankshaft for wear. Inspect thrust bearing for wear on one side and crankshaft on that “mating” surface. If the thrust bearing has three vertical channels worn off replace connecting rod bearings, main bearings, thrust bearing and crankshaft. If working on a Corvette the oil tank with lines and oil cooler are both required to be replaced if equipped

Special Coverage Adjustment This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after November 17, 2016, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to November 17, 2016, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider. Correction Dealers are to replace the DEF tank reservoir. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer
