- #11759702August 26, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
There was a wreck up ahead, and two tow trucks with their emergency lights flashing were blocking the left two lanes. Traffic was stop-and-go due to the existing wreck. I was traveling in the lane to the right of the tow trucks as I approached. I stopped about 1–2 car lengths behind them. When traffic started to move, I began to move forward and advanced about a car length when the automatic emergency braking (AEB) activated and slammed on the brakes, even though the path in front of me was clear. The person behind me rear-ended me. Luckily, no one was physically hurt, but there is damage to our car that now has to be repaired, along with all the headache that brings. If this had happened at higher speeds, it could have resulted in serious injuries. My family’s safety and the safety of others are definitely at risk because of this phantom braking. I would welcome an inspection of the black box and AEB. Feel free to contact me if you can facilitate this. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone yet. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the phantom braking. However, this has happened previously; this is the first time it resulted in a wreck. From what I’ve seen online, this appears to be a common problem, and the dealership does not have a definitive fix.

My 2021 Chevrolet Blazer RS equipped with the 3.6L LGX V6 experienced catastrophic engine failure at approximately 90,200 miles. The vehicle had no prior warning. The dealer diagnosed the timing chain / lift/ cam damage. I am requesting investigation into whether this represents a safety or durability defect affecting other vehicles

As I accelerated after the traffic light turned green the vehicle stalled. I was able to move the vehicle to the curb on XXX [XXX] is a two-way road. The vehicle stalled while on an active road which could have led to my vehicle being rear ended causing potential injuries to myself and other drivers. The engine turned over and there was fuel in the gas tank, however, the vehicle wouldn't start. A warning light showed: "low battery", but since the engine was trying to start, it seems unlikely that the battery was low. A second warning light showed: "battery saving" mode. These lights appeared once the vehicle was parked on the curb of the road. The vehicle was towed to David Chevrolet, a GM dealership on [XXX] about 2 miles away. While idling in my driveway, the engine started to shake and the check engine light came on. Got it diagnosed and was told by a private repair center that we had lost compression in cylinder 4 and that it was not worth the repair and we needed to replace the engine. Got it towed to the dealership, Bill Fox Chevrolet, for a 2nd opinion and they confirmed what the private shop had said. Because the vehicle was well maintained with regular preventative maintenance, it was deemed the failure was not the fault of the owner. GM extended a goodwill warranty to help cover the cost of the engine replacement (70% coverage. We were 1 month and 2,000 miles past our warranty). They never told us root cause, only that it would have cost more money to repair it than it would be to get a new engine. The Blazer had been running fine up to that point and was my wife's main mode of transportation. The Blazer only had 62,000 miles on it when the failure occured.

My 2022 Chevrolet Blazer abruptly Shut down all power for about five seconds while I was stopped at a red light. The vehicle restarted after I pressed the push-button ignition, but the dashboard displayed a brake system error warning with no explanation of the cause or instructions for next steps. No other warning lights preceded the shutdown. The vehicle appeared to resume normal operation after restart, but the brake system warning remained. This appears consistent with complaints filed by other 2022 Blazer owners describing simultaneous electrical and brake system failures.

- #11756366August 11, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I am reporting a recurring safety issue with the Forward Collision Alert/Automatic Emergency Braking system on my 2023 Chevrolet Blazer 2LT. The vehicle frequently activates the Forward Collision Alert when there is no vehicle, pedestrian, or other obstruction in front of me. The red collision warning will illuminate and the system will beep even when the roadway is clear. More concerning, on three separate occasions the vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brakes extremely hard while I was driving in traffic despite there being no obstacle or imminent collision. The most recent incident occurred on August 11, 2026. I was making a turn through a busy intersection when the Automatic Emergency Braking system suddenly activated and applied the brakes extremely hard. There was no vehicle, pedestrian, or obstruction in my path that would have required emergency braking. The sudden braking occurred while I was in the intersection and created a serious risk of being struck by surrounding traffic. The braking force was severe enough that my seat belt restrained me very hard and caused an injury to my chest and flew me forward into the steering wheel while also risking the vehicle behind me to almost slam into me. This was not an isolated occurrence. This is the third time the vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brakes hard while I was driving in traffic. In addition to these three braking incidents, I have experienced frequent false Forward Collision Alerts where the red warning and audible alert activate when nothing is in front of the vehicle. I am concerned that the Forward Collision Alert/Automatic Emergency Braking system is malfunctioning and could cause a collision by unexpectedly stopping the vehicle in moving traffic. I am requesting that this recurring safety issue be documented and investigated.

- #11755877August 10, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, STEERING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Intermittent electrical defects are beginning to occur that impact the power steering or power brakes. After starting the vehicle, there are times either the power steering or the power brakes do not function. When the braking defect occurs, the engine warning lamp is displayed and indicates brake system control module. Sudden switch to manual steering or manual braking are a safety hazard. A couple ignition recycles eventually corrects the electrical defect and restores the vehicle to normal operations. Vehicle has been dropped off at dealership for warranty repair.

The vehicle’s radiator developed a coolant leak that was discovered and confirmed by the dealership during a routine oil change, tire rotation and state inspection. There were no warning lights, warning messages prior to the dealership discovering the leak. The radiator required replacement. The dealership also told me that they had the replacement radiator on hand because this type of radiator failure had been occurring fairly often with this type of vehicle. The radiator failure presented a potential safety concern because a coolant leak can worsen without warning and result in a sudden loss of coolant, engine overheating, or vehicle breakdown while driving. Because there were no warning lamps or other symptoms before the leak was discovered, we may not have had any indication that the cooling system was failing. The problem was confirmed by the dealership during inspection, and the dealership determined that the radiator was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle/component was inspected by the dealership. No manufacturer, police, or insurance inspection has occurred, to my knowledge. There were no warning lamps, messages, overheating, or other noticeable symptoms prior to the dealership finding the leak. The vehicle is only three years old, with 39000 miles on it at the time of the failure. I am reporting this because a radiator failure at such a young vehicle age, particularly one that develops without any warning to the driver, could potentially create a safety hazard if the coolant loss becomes severe while the vehicle is being operated. I’ve seen many complaints in online forums that this is an ongoing issue with these radiators used by Chevy. It seems the replacement radiators are having the same issues. The radiator had a crack that nobody located even though I had been smelling antifreeze since I purchased it at 24,000 miles just over a year ago. I brought it in for an oil change today because I was leaving town for the weekend tomorrow and now a hole had blown through the bottom of the radiator. Had this happened when I was in a remote area of the mountains without cell service this could have been a very big problem. Or had it blown while traveling up the mountain pass it would have put my life and others passing me on the road at risk. There weren't any warning lights on and the car never overheated. There weren't any outward leaks up until the hole was blown in the radiator. I have had it in several times for oil changes and there were never any visible leaks noted. Luckily my engine never blew because I've been driving with a cracked radiator for at least a year now.

"I am the owner of a 2023 Chevrolet Blazer RS. The digital odometer and speedometer screen intermittently crashes and goes completely black for 15 to 20 seconds while the vehicle is in motion on public roads. This creates an immediate safety hazard as I am left with zero knowledge of my current speed. General Motors has acknowledged this specific software stability bug under Technical Service Bulletin 22-NA-023 but refuses to fix the issue due to the vehicle being 9 days past its 3-year calendar warranty, despite having only 32,400 miles." I contacted your GM agent @ 800-222-1020 and was told its out of warranty sorry, that is horrible service espeacially for a safety issue and a 55,000 vechicle that only has 32,400 miles

I have been smelling engine coolant for some time and found a leak on the drivers side top seam where the aluminum meets the plastic tank on the radiator. This is a known problem with 2019=2026 Chevy Blazers by GM and it still hasn't been resolved. After researching, I have found numerous Blazer owners that have this same issue and some are on 3rd and 4th radiator replacement. I am afraid to drive the vehicle due to the leak that could leave me and my family stranded on the side of the road. I am also concerned about a major leak or seam separation that could allow a large amount of coolant out that could get on the tires and cause loss of vehicle control as a result. Also, the leaking coolant is a hazard to any animals that are around as the coolant puddles under my vehicle after driving. At this point, the Blazer is running hotter and I had to add coolant. I just called to price a new radiator...$450 and install...$1,025...that isn't a cost I should have to take on with GM knowing about this issue for years.
