ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The vehicle's instrument panel automatically dims excessively at dusk and dawn. When it does this, the speedometer and other information in the dashboard are not visible. There is no way to adjust the brightness any higher and no way to disable this auto dim feature. This is, to my knowledge, a known software bug that has persisted for close to two years without any effort by GM to rectify this safety issue.

VISIBILITY/WIPER, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The gauge cluster/infotainment screen dims automatically when the light sensor on the dash senses the environment has gotten darker. The problem is that this happens extremely early at dusk/dark hours when it's still fairly bright outside, and the brightness of the screen is too dim to see things clearly. Also, once this automatic dimming happens, there is no way to turn the brightness back up. This feature also CANNOT be disabled in the settings anywhere. This results in a safety issue where the screen is not sufficiently visible at times when the auto dimming (which is also tied to the automatic headlights) kicks in for the screen.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
When approaching sunset, or when travelling under bridges, the dash dims excessively and is barely readable. I have to take my eyes off the road for extended periods of time to be able to see the information. The excessive dim does not reset itself, when the ambient lighting returns to normal, for a prolonged period of time. Complaints to the dealer service department, GM EV Concierge, and OnStar have not had any effect on resolving this. Tnis is an ongoing problem since delivery of the vehicle.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
During dusk and dawn conditions, the vehicle dims the dashboard lighting to the point that everything is very difficult to see. They are diming the displays when the exterior lighting conditions are still too bright for the very dim display. I have owned many GM vehicles with this type of automatic diming and this is the ONLY vehicle that has this problem. There is NO user fix available. This is a safety problem and GM needs to be forced to provide a fix. Many owners complain about this problem and there is no fix available from dealers.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The entire left portion of the screen became inoperable and remained a black screen despite attempts to reset the system. The left side of the screen contains information such as gear selection, speedometer, lane keep assist, and many other important information. There is no other way to see what speed you are going besides this screen. Several others in my cadillac lyriq facebook group have experienced this issue, it is a major safety concern and needs to be addressed immediately before someone gets hurt from this.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Unable to get display lighting bright enough to adequately read instrumentation when coming out of garage into low atmospheric lighting. Have instrument display lighting rheostat turned up to maximum but sensors don't allow the display to brighten. The vehicle lighting sensor is not blocked. The rheostat should be able to turn the display to full bright, but isn't designed that way. Definitely a safety issue. Cadillac dealership says there is nothing they can do about this situation, but acknowledge it's a widely reported complaint. The manual rheostat should be able to turn the display to full bright by selecting the maximum setting. Unfortunately it's not designed that way.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
While we're driving the vehicle the adaptive cruse control was on. As we approached a vehicle ours started to slow down from 55mph to where it almost braked all the way about 2mph. The vehicle in front of us braked completely and was stopped. As soon as they were stopped, Our vehicle tried to rapidly accelerate into the back of it where we had to intervene and slam on the brakes. If we didn't do this there would have been an accident due to our adaptive cruise control failing. This has happend twice to us. Taken the vehicle to the dealership and they cant replicate the problem so there is nothing to fix. This is something that needs to be Investigated before an accident occurs.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The contact owns a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system unintentionally engaged. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer stated that the cause of the failure could not be determined. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,400.

On or about 11/14/24 Car found completely dead and won't start in garage. Car had about 50% charge in main battery pack and 12V completely dead. Called OnStar service and they had vehicle taken to dealership on flatbed. GM app reports Vehicle Issues: "Electric Drive Unit, Lithium Ion Battery, Electric Drive Unit, and 12V battery require your attention now." Vehicle purchased on or about 8/18/24 and at time of failure car had about 385 miles. Car kept garaged when not in use in pristine condition. Dealer reports as of 11/23/24 they do not know the problem with the car. I have been without use of my only car since 11/14/24.

POWER TRAIN, SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving northbound on [XXX], south of Oklahoma City, at normal highway speed, at night, in the rain (on [XXX]), this EV lost all power to the wheels and the regenerative braking ceased to function. It appears that all flow of electrons from the batteries to the drive motors, and from the regenerative brakes to the batteries stopped. I still had dashboard lights, steering, and conventional brakes. I was able to safely coast to a stop on the highway shoulder. I set the parking brakes, put the “transmission” into “park”, and turned off the power button. I then restarted the car, and all was normal again. I continued my drive from Austin, TX, to Evergreen, CO with no additional incidents, arriving on [XXX]. This is reminiscent of the “blue screen of death” in old Microsoft desktop computers — fixed the problem by cycling the ON / OFF switch. SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, PARKING BRAKE
While driving through Wisconsin on [XXX] with Super Cruise activated in 70MPH traffic the car provided me with driver's side collision warning failure notice and then a forward collision warning failure notice, but the car continued to be operating normally. A short time later a brakes overheating warning came on while the car still seemed to be operating normally and maintaining speed. I immediately disengaged the cruise control to check out the situation and the car instantly locked on the brakes, and we could see smoke and smell the burning brakes. I pulled to car to the side of the road, and we exited the car concerned there might be a fire coming from one of the 4 smoking wheels. The rotors were red hot. We remained a safe distance from the car until the brakes stopped smoking. After it appeared safe, I reentered the car and determined the brakes (parking brakes) were fully engaged and the car would not move. We contacted OnStar for assistance and waited. After a significant time (it seemed like quite a while) I suddenly heard the sound of the parking brakes electrically releasing. Shortly after that I started and tested the car again and it would move so we slowly drove it off the busy interstate to the next exit a short distance away and continued working with OnStar to obtain a tow to a Cadillac dealership. After working with OnStar for several hours and determining that there would most likely be no tow truck coming, we decided to test drive the car around the area now that the brakes had cooled off. We ended up renting a 'safety' car that my wife would drive, and I would try to drive the car back to Minnesota to our dealer. The car operated normally for the drive home, but we did not use any cruise control just in case. It was my belief that a system communication issue told the brakes to engage and that since the Super Cruise was engage the motors just added more power to over-come the drag on the brakes until they over heated. I am writing to report an issue with the windshield durability on my 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ. Over the past three weeks, I’ve experienced three separate instances where small rocks struck the windshield while I was driving, each impact resulting in a crack or chip. In my experience with previous vehicles, similar impacts would rarely, if ever, result in such immediate damage, which raises concerns about the material or design of this particular windshield. This frequent damage has quickly become costly and frustrating. Windshields should withstand small impacts to a reasonable extent, and this does not seem to be the case here. I am also reaching out to Cadillac to address my concerns, but I wanted to report this issue to NHTSA in case other drivers are experiencing similar problems. Please let me know if there is further information I can provide. Thank you for looking into this matter.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: AUTOMATIC SYSTEM BRAKING
Ref: NHTSA ID# 24V589/ GM Recall N242453471 Record shows that the above recall was completed on August 27, 2024. Yesterday while I was reversing my 2024 LYRIQ out of my garage I experienced multiple false automatic braking. Braking was so frequent that, I thought, driving that car at that time was unsafe and pulled it back into the garage and took my other car. It was raining at that time. False braking has happened in the past but not to a point where driving is nearly impossible.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: AUTOMATIC SYSTEM BRAKING
Each time it rains and the car is in reverse, the emergency braking system kicks in repeatedly, and a red light flashes on the screen. The car believes there is an object or person behind the car; I would imagine because the rear camera can see the rain. It is difficult to even move the car at all, and is a major safety concern. The last time this occurred, I was backing out of my driveway at a slow speed. This also occurred backing out of a parking spot at a slow speed. I hesitate to drive this car in rain because of the issue. In speaking with the dealership's repair personnel, this occurs on every Lyriq. In fact, there was another Lyriq in for that complaint at the same time. I cannot attach photos or a video, as doing so would be unsafe. However, it can be easily re-created in any Lyriq.
