Summary
In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine, and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner?s Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, and the ambient temperature and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Utilizing the advanced sensor technology integrated in the 2009> B8 platform (A4, allroad, A5, A5 Cabriolet, A6, and Q5) equipped with the 2.0 TFSI (CAEB, CPMA) engine, it is possible to measure oil consumption electronically via a Guided Function test plan.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-06 dated September 12, 2013. Customer reports sound system ?pops? and loses audio for a few seconds (for vehicles with base sound system) or sound system loses audio for a few seconds and returns on its own (for vehicles with Bose or Bang & Olufsen sound system). If the sound does not return on its own, or is accompanied by relevant DTCs in the vehicle, another issue may be present. Verify the root cause before proceeding with this bulletin. HD radio does not output in Stereo. This bulletin only applies to vehicles with Navigation Plus (PR Number 8DY). The applicable vehicles can be clearly identified by the MMI control panel in the center console. Continual improvements to MMI software provides solutions to issues experienced in the field.

Typically, engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner?s Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, the ambient temperature and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Under certain driving conditions, internal engine pressure conditions in the 2.0 TFSI engine can negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This condition can occur while the vehicle is operated in metro driving conditions; for example: stop-and-go traffic with extended idle periods.
