EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Hello, The projectors on the inside of the headlights on my 2013 Acura RDX have failed, creating a VERY dangerous condition in which the low beam headlights are extremely dim. It is to the point in which driving at night is dangerous, and no longer emits enough light to be considered legal by state and federal guidelines. This is occurring on both the driver side and passenger side headlights. The exterior lens on the headlights is completely clear. It would appear that I'm not alone, as a Google search reveals SEVERAL other drivers with 2013/14/15 RDX's that have extremely dim headlights as a result of projector failure. In addition, Honda recalled approximately 14,000 model year 2013 and 2014 Acura ILX's for this exact same issue. EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Low beam headlights are so dim. I cannot drive at night. I’ve had the bulbs replaced twice and within a month they are Still too dim to safely drive at night, particularly in the rain. I live in the PNW and that means half the year I can’t safely drive at night. It’s very dangerous and other drivers tell me they can’t see me. I’m over 55 and very concerned, and the cost to replace the headlight assemblies is nearly $2000 which is almost 3x the value of the car! Acura recalled 2013 ILX for same issue why not RDX?

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The vehicles adaptive cruise control is unreliable. Guidance system goes haywire and cannot stay on track to destination. Carplay becomes inoperable. Have had Tameron Eastern Shore Honda who sold car to me check problem on multiple occasions and they cannot find problem.

The lights are too dim to safely drive at night and they are becoming even worse and are now so low that I must use my high beams to see at night. I have spoken to the dealer but the only thing they suggested was a new headlight, it did not make anything better.

The rear windshield shattered while closing the driver door, glass pieces could fall into passenger on the back seat, Acura posted a Service Bulletin (22-014) on 10/28/2022. The vehicle hasn’t been inspected by the manufacturer. There wasn’t any service lights, it just randomly happened while closing the driver door, something to point out I did used the rear windshield defroster in the morning.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The dim lights are horrible with about 20% of the correct or new car illumination of the street. I have replaced the low beam 3 times and I am not able to see the road with the low beam. This forces me to use my bright beams which is not safe. I have had a high energy bulb replace as suggested by the dealer and they are not helping. When you go the the service dept. at Acura and they l say, yes we hear this a lot. This is a real issue for safety. I have a case with Honda / Acura and they asked that I take my car to the local dealer for an evaluation. I did that and they kept my car for almost a month. No fix or repairs were made. The fix is a total replacement of the lights, wire system and lens cover. That is about $2000 and I should not need to pay due to this quality issue. I have a case number from Honda which can share with you if you want it. If you do an internet search you will see that this is a national problem and a recall from Honda / Acura need to be forced as they are not willing to fit the problem on their own.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The low beam lamps have become very dim. I replaced with new lamps, but no improvement. After having the bulbs replaced and outside lamp assembly polished I discovered the projector lens itself that the lamps are inserted into have become clouded, similar to having cataracts. On social media I have learned this is a problem shared by many owners. One night after returning home from work I was stopped by a deputy sheriff because he noticed I had my bright lights on too long and that my low beams were too dim. I explained the issue to him and what I was in the process of doing so he let me go. So next day I contacted the dealership and Acura too about this issue. Being denied any satisfaction to remedy the issue I found it necessary to search for and then purchase out of pocket new after market headlight assemblies. The dealership quoted me well over $1,400 to purchase and install. I went to a local auto/body shop and got it done for just under $600.00. I also purchased fog light assemblies to be added to the vehicle while the headlight assemblies were being installed. Total out of pocket was just over $900.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Car engine turned on and suddenly shut off as I was pulling onto a highway from a store driveway. As it was sudden and unexpected, as well as the first occurrence, this is highly dangerous to driver and passengers in the car.Problem confirmed by AAA auto repair shop, confirming it was due to a fuel pump failure . This car year, make and model is on recall for this exact item but my car is not on the list, despite the recent event. Dealer refusing to pay for replacement stating it’s not on the recall list. Insurance will be contacted shortly.

LOW BEAMS VERY DIM. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AFTER DARK WITHOUT USING HIGH BEAMS. MANUFACTURER STATES THAT THE REFLECTIVE COATING IN THE LOW BEAM HOUSING LOSES IT'S ABILITY TO PROPERLY REFLECT LIGHT FROM HEADLAMP OVER TIME. REPLACEMENT QUOTE FROM BRADSHAW ACURA (GREENVILLE SC) WAS $2,400. VEHICLE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT ACURA RDX 2013-2015 HAVE THIS DEFECT.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Exterior light, especially the low beams, are not sufficient for driving at night. The beams are very low and make it challenging to see. If I did not have added fog lights, I would find it impossible to drive at night without constant usage of the high beams. It seems this was recalled in other models and needs to be addressed. It is not safe for drivers and it is clear that just changing the bulbs does not fix the problem. The dealership was going to charge me over 100 dollars just to look at the headlights and said that it was a known issue and nothing can really be done without an extensive overhaul of the headlights. This needs to be recalled.

Headlights have gradually become so dim that the vehicle is not safe to drive at night. This 2014 Base model Acura RDX was purchased new from the dealer in 2013 and has less than 50,000 miles. This appears to be a widespread issue and the only identified correction is to replace both headlight assemblies at an estimated cost exceeding $2000 (for dealership replacement). In addition to compromising the safe night operation of the vehicle, this is an unreasonably short lifetime limitation for mandatory safety equipment.

This is the 2nd time that the liftgate glass has shattered. The first time this happend I thought maybe someone threw a rock and shattered it. But it has just happended again where the liftgate glass has shattered for no apparent reason. I googled the problem and apparently a lot of other people have had the same issue happen to them. I cannot drive without a rear windshhield so I have an appointment to get it replaced on Tuesday the 21st of march. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer but I will take it to Acura this afternoon. From what I have read, they will not do anything about it, other than replacing the window and charging for it. There were no symptoms that appeared before the glass shattering.

The headlights on my 2014 Acura RDX are very dim. I went to the Acura dealership and they agreed that it was dim and suggested that I replace both hid bulbs which I did but it hasn't made much of a difference. Not having properly lighting is obviously a safety issue and makes it very difficult to drive at night, especially with our current weather conditions. I emailed Acura to follow up and they said there is nothing they can do as there isn't a recall. A recall should happen asap as this is a big safety issue.

Normal grocery store run opened my lift gate to get my bags to go into the store, hit the close button and once it closed the rear windshield spontaneously shattered then and there - nothing touched it at all I was standing 2 feet away - after I started to drive home the window started falling apart creating the hole in the picture.
