My 21 year old daughter is driving a 2015 RDX we just purchased a few months ago. The headlights are terrible! They are so dim and it’s extremely dangerous. Acura should have a recall on this

I woke up Sunday morning to find the rear window on my 2022 Acura RDX to be shattered. Nothing impacted the window to cause it to be shattered. My understanding is this is a known problem with this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2018 Acura RDX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The low beam headlights have gotten very dim over the 6 years I have owned the car, to the point that it is hazardous to drive at night due to very poor visibility. The Honda dealership found no issues and only replaced the bulbs, which did not fix the problem. There are numerous online reports of exactly the same issue with the same model year of this vehicle. I don't understand why Acura does not acknowledge this issue with a recall, or why NHTSA does not consider this a well-documented and dangerous defect.

Highlight: The car was able to be started with a button press and driven away without any key inside the car. (Also, some side information that the car had it's annual check-up on the Saturday before this incident). Normally my wife keeps her purse in the house on the counter (along with the spare key in a drawer under that counter). Previously, if she forgot her purse (and car keys inside the purse), she would head out to the garage and attempt to start the car (she keeps it unlocked in the garage). In a normal situation, the car would beep at her that she didn't have the key and she would go into the house to grab her purse. On 7/31, after a frazzling day, she got a call from her doctor to come to their office for a checkup (40 minutes away). She forgot her purse again; however, this time, the car started without any warning. She took the complete drive to the doctor's office shut off the car and then realized she didn't have her purse. She even tried to turn the car back on to see if the key was in the car, it did not start. She called me, I checked her purse and spare key were both in the same location they were always in. I did remotely try to start the car to see if she could drive it back with me starting it, however, it wouldn't let her take it out of park. She continued with her doctor's appointment. Inconveniently, I grabbed her purse and took my car 40 minutes to drop off her keys and back. Luckily, she was at a doctor's office and in a safe space, however, this has the potential to be very inconvenient and unsafe for others.

I have an ACURA RDX 2014, the headlight lensed halogen reflectors are dimming and looks like it is a common problem in 2013-2015 Acura. Dealers are not helping us and charging almost 2k dollars to replace with new ones. It is a safety issue and common issue and it seems to a manufacturer issue

The headlight assembly oxidizes after about 8 years of use. Dealer solution is to replace both headlights for about $2,400.

Keyless Access Control Unit (a.k.a. Smart Power Control Unit) is defective. This is an electronic part and should not have failed. It causes random security alarm triggers, random flashing of exterior lights, clicking noises, and flashing of dash lights. There are plenty of discussion boards about this online with many complaints. A recall should definitely be issued.

Came out from my house at 7am to go to work, to see that my back windshield was completely shattered. There were no signs of someone trying to break in or forced entry into the vehicle.

Driving 55mph at night on highway . Went to accelerate around slower vehicle to 70mph speed limit when vehicle lost engine power and yellow check engine light began flashing on left side of instrument panel. Vehicle began slowing forcing move to right shoulder from left lane in moderate traffic. Vehicle would not accelerate past 20 mph on shoulder to nearest exit. Once at a safe location vehicle was shut off. Restarted vehicle approximately 30 seconds after shut down and vehicle began running normal.

The contact stated that several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the engine seized. The contact's wife restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. Additionally, the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The dim lights prevent clear visibility when driving. I inquired with my local Acura dealership about a solution. I was told that dim headlights on this model are a known issue. They stated that it relates back to the reflectivity inside the the light assembly and the only solution would be to replace the entire assembly on both sides. The only effective remedy I have found to see at night is to keep the bright lights on, which is a safety issue for other drivers. Replacement bulbs will not correct the visibility due to the issue with the reflectivity. This has caused multiple safety concerns at night, nearly causing multiple accidents due to not being able to see clearly.

- #11601506July 12, 2024AIR BAGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I had minor accident on [XXX] in my 2018 Acura RDX. The front crash sensor was damaged, so the car cannot be returned to me without a new one because the air bags and other safety equipment will not deploy in front crash. The repair shop ordered the part (no. 77930-TX4-A11) from Acura on 5/28, along with other parts needed. Acura's delivery date for this part has changed from 6/24, to 7/2, to 7/11, and 7/18. However, my Acura dealer indicates they've had this part on order since April, and Acura has provided no estimated delivery date. I filed a claim directly with Acura a week ago (case no. XXXX), demanding that they provide me with a comparable vehicle until they can provide this part, and no one has even returned my calls. American Honda is in violation of federal law, which requires companies that sell automobiles in the US to provide parts for them for 10 years from the date of manufacture, and to compensate consumers for failure to do so. Low beam headlights have become so dim that they are unsafe at night and provide insufficient lighting. Bulbs have been replaced but am now told by the dealership this is a potential defect with this model where the reflective housing deteriorates and requires a full replacement of the headlight assembly.

Drove vehicle home during daylight. At nite the low-beam lights are useless high-beam needed to be able to see. Carfax was unaware of a "safety recall" for this problem. I found numerous complaints about this on the web. There needs to be a "recall" to get this corrected. Should be addressed by mfg and not consumer.
