POWER TRAIN
The RDX has been experiencing stalls when trying to accelerate, shaking/vibrations when accelerating uphill or around curves in roads. I received a letter about the Torque Converter having its warrantee extended. The letter stated if you are experiences issues related to the torque converter to contact the dealership. I took my RDX to the Acura dealership in which they stated the car did not show the code to have the Torque Converter replaced but instead I needed a transmission flush. I have stated that I am experiencing problems related to the Torque Converter and after replacing it a transmission flush is part of the process. The dealership is refusing to replace the torque converter but charging me $500 for a transmission flush.

At start up, my car displayed 4 errors: Lane Keeping Assist System, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, and Electric Power Steering. As a result, my car could not steer and had to get it towed to the dealership.

Vehicle Make/Model/Year: 2014 Acura RDX Component: Exterior Lighting – Headlights (Low Beam) Summary of the Problem: My wife drives a 2014 Acura RDX. A few years ago, she mentioned that the low beam headlights seemed unusually dim at night. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but after driving the vehicle myself more recently, I confirmed the issue—the low beams provide very poor visibility, making night driving hazardous. To address this, I replaced the bulbs with new ones, but it made no noticeable improvement. After researching online, I discovered that many other owners of the 2013–2014 Acura RDX have reported the same issue. It appears this may be a widespread defect with the headlight housing or reflector design, rather than just a bulb issue. I also found articles and forum posts online where some people resolved the issue only by replacing the entire headlight assembly, which is a costly fix. This suggests the problem may lie in a design flaw rather than normal wear and tear. Given the safety implications of limited nighttime visibility, I believe this deserves further investigation.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
AcuraLink App was used to attempt to remote start car while at a store, however, the app reported a failed notification and car was never started through the app and only turned on manually. Two hours later, when at home, the car remote started suddenly with no prompt while it was inside of a closed garage. Our dog heard the car go off and alerted us. Had he not heard it, the car would have been running in a closed garage putting us at risk for carbon monoxide poisoning. I have done no other reporting, but I did look this up and found threads online about the same issue and was recommended to report here. There were no other warnings or messages to say that the car turned on.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ENGINE, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Drove into parking lot and as I was pulling into the parking spot next to the building, the vehicle started to surge forward as if I had my foot on the gas instead of the brake. The sudden surge caused the vehicle to plow into a brick building causing about $10K damage to the vehicle and $5K to the building. This was not the first time this sudden surging occurred. It happened at least 3 times previously, and one time since. Fortunately, the other occurrences did not lead to any damages, but just some anxious moments. I took the vehicle to the dealership to get checked out after the last occurrence, but they said they couldn't duplicate it. I thought it might be some sort of "unknown" problem, until I started reading on Facebook and other internet websites of other people having the same scary "surging" engine issues. I believe there's more to it now, and an investigation is warranted.

While driving I have no headlights. Had bulbs replaced but still doesn’t work. Can’t drive at night since purchased. Have only high beams but very low. While driving almost got in accident. Complaints are numerous on social media for 2014 Acura RDX. No one does anything to fix problems. Acura dealer charged 129.00 for headlights still not working and said no recall. This is extremely dangerous. Thank you for your help in this matter

I recently purchased this vehicle used, and just drove it at night for the first time. The low-beam headlights are extremely dim, to the point that it was difficult to tell if they were even turned on. This made it very difficult to drive in the dark, and I nearly went off the road as a result. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer, service center, or other party, but I did confirm that the headlights were operating, but remained dangerously dim. No warning lights or messages came on to indicate any sort of problem.

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, STEERING, SERVICE BRAKES
Driving 45mph. In a slight curve. Steering wheel power steering stops working. Car pulls to right into other lane of traffic. Brakes seem to apply like car is avoiding something. Multiple warnings come on. Like steering problem , lane keep assist failure. Brake system problem road departure problem. Car barely will steer. Limped along to stop. Cut off car and back on and steering came back in. Start driving and braking problem notification comes back on. Braking seems ok other than the wearing. Could have been real bad if other car was coming in other lane.

The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

SERVICE BRAKES, ENGINE
I have a 2021 Acura RDX A-spec AW and ever since I had a brakes problem, when applying brakes will not take break promptly kept slipping like going I address this to the dealer numerous time and what they said is that they haven’t had a recall in order to know what really the problem is I think is due to my calipers and probably rotors, but I think is the cut for defect on these 2021 Acura RDX . Also my engine been leaking oil from the top rear side and rear the valve cover this need to be addressed and I have made a complaint to Acura Honda The Corp. and they said they haven’t been a recall for this. Also, I would like someone to look at this matter break And engine problem due to a leak that could cost a fire.

STEERING, SERVICE BRAKES, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
I was going from an on ramp to the hwy traveling approx 55 mph and my rdx lost power, the steering wheel either locked up or lost all power steering and warning beeps started and so did lights and brake warning systems. I was able to get it a few feet onto the shoulder of the HWY. after calling Roadside assistance and turning the car off and back on I was able to get the steering wheel to turn freely again and pulled my car further off the hwy to safeth warning messages that popped up Brake system - "Brake system problem. Brake Performance may be reduces see your dealer Lane Keeping Assist System problem- see your dealer Collision mitigation Braking system problem- see your dealer Low spped Braking control problem. In googling this issue its a known issue on 2025 RDX and had caused some accidents. Some people have had it happen to them in 2 2025 RDX's since Jan and their loaner did it to them. There needs to be a reall on this

The contact owns a 2016 Acura RDX. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle while turning to the left or the right. The contact stated that the steering wheel failed to function as intended. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering gear and suspension had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The vehicle's low beam headlights are getting progressively weaker. They are now dangerous, because they do not illuminate the road ahead at night. I have replaced the bulbs and it does not help. This is a safety issue. I am the original owner and have owned 10 cars in my life and have never had this issue. There is something wrong with the headlights.

This week, my panoramic sunroof shattered. This is the second time this has happened to me. The first incident was last year my on 2021 RDX. I became suspicious and started doing some research and it appears this has happened to many RDX users. I filed a formal complaint with Honda corporate as well as my local dealer, Leith Acura inNorth Carolina. What I have seen in social media on numerous Acura Facebook pages is that this issue may be related to a bolt problem , but tried to verify this information as it appears Honda is sweeping it under the rug. Also, further investigation showed that this issue has been happening on models from 2019 through 2024. The issue is when the glass shatters, it can fall directly on the driver or worse, fly off and hit the car behind you. Clearly, this is a an issue that needs to be addressed by this organization and Honda corporate due to due to compelling safety issues. Thank you for the opportunity to submit this complaint. As I was navigating a turn onto a highway on-ramp, the vehicle unexpectedly decelerated or attempted to brake autonomously, accompanied by a sudden loss of power steering assist. This created a hazardous situation, nearly causing a collision with the guardrail. After safely bringing the vehicle to a stop, the dashboard illuminated with numerous warning lights and messages such as: Electric Power Steering System Problem. Steering Assist Not Available. Do Not Drive. Brake System Problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Lane Keeping Assist System Problem. See your dealer. Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem. See your dealer. Road Departure Mitigation System Problem. See your dealer. Low Speed Braking Control Problem. See your dealer. The power steering light and brake system lights came on. This incident occurred on April 12, 2025 and then occurred again on April 20th. The dealer took the vehicle in on May 9th and told me they can not reproduce the problem. This has the potential to cause life threatening injuries or even death.
