I recently (11/9/23) took my 2022 MDX (22,00 miles) to the local Acura dealer for an issue with my windshield washers not working. They diagnosed the problem as the washer jets were clogged and said the replacement parts were on back order and they were not given a time when they would arrive. I am concerned that currently my vehicle is unsafe to drive during inclement weather conditions-- i.e. slush, muddy roads, etc. Acura customer service has not been able to provide any ETA on this issue

On November 17, 2023 while we were on a trip the vehicle's sunroof spontaneously exploded upward. There were no other vehicles around us and nothing above us. This is the second time this sunroof has exploded. The first was on February 19, 2023. Both incidents were covered by insurance except for the deductible. This could have posed a great danger to anyone immediately behind my vehicle as glass was blown back in that direction.

The All Wheel Drive of my 2022 MDX has been going out in the rear, and only the front wheels are powered. This happens nearly every time I drive the vehicle for the last 2 months, at least. My safety is at risk because I live in Montana and the roads have been getting icy with current weather conditions. When the AWD drive gives out, I lose all power briefly as the front tried to regain power. Going up mountains with this issue is very dangerous. It also goes out in "snow" mode. I have sent the Acura warranty department numerous photos, via email, of the error message as well as videos of the message popping up. I also started a log of the error as of 11/09/23. I live over 400 miles from the closest Acura dealership. I asked if the local Honda dealership can look at it and after over a week of waiting to hear back, was told I needed to take it to Acura. I refuse to drive it over 400 miles in winter conditions. I asked for it to be towed to Acura last Monday, 11/20/23, and have yet to hear back. The warning message reads, "All Wheel Drive system problem. Only front wheels may be powered, see your dealer." Additional, snall rocks from snow protection keep getting stuck between the break rotors and the back plate. It causes a loud screeching sound until the rocks are dislodged. The rear brakes now sweak.

Twice earlier in the year as I was pulling into a parking spot the brakes seemed to have failed, car auto accelerated, but was stopped by a parking block. Air suspension warning light was on, car was evaluated three times 6/2023-8/2023, air suspension sensor replaced, Acura reported car was otherwise fine. One week following last evaluation car again auto accelerated, was stopped by parking block. The car again auto accelerated one month later, this time into cement wall, air bags deployed. Issue only happens when coming to a stop, very sporadic and rare, but obviously dangerous.

I am writing to report a significant issue concerning a leak in the transfer case of my 2022 Acura MDX Type S, VIN: [XXX] . This malfunction poses a potential safety risk to myself and other road users. 1.Component Malfunction: •The malfunction occurred in the transfer case of the vehicle. Yes, the transfer case is available for inspection upon request. 2.Safety Risks: •The leak could potentially lead to inadequate lubrication within the drivetrain, causing it to malfunction while driving, which might result in loss of control or an accident. 3.Problem Confirmation: •The problem has been confirmed by an authorized Acura dealer, who identified the leak and proposed either a seal replacement or a complete transfer case replacement as potential solutions. 4.Inspections: •The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer and is scheduled for a follow-up inspection to ascertain whether the seal replacement resolves the issue. As of now, no inspections have been conducted by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. 5.Warning Signs: •There were no warning lamps or messages indicating a problem. However, I was advised of the leak when the car was on the lift for a tire change, which prompted a further investigation. This issue raises concerns about the potential safety risks not only to myself but to other drivers on the road. I am worried that others with the same vehicle model might experience similar problems, which could lead to dangerous situations if not addressed promptly. This vehicle has an “integrated” gas cap where the fuel filler door acts as the gas cap. I can’t believe Honda engineering did ANY testing with this system since about 75% of the time when I fuel the vehicle, the nozzle gets stuck in the filler neck & the neck usually comes off the vehicle entirely when attempting to remove the fuel nozzle. This problem has been well documented on Honda/Acura forums for some time and I CANNOT BELIEVE Honda has not issued a recall as this represents a significant safety risk, not to mention potential emissions issues.

While driving and happened multiple times, vehicle senses phantom objects or nothing at all but hard brakes on its own which also causes the seat belt to tug on abdomen (wife was pregnant at the time, unfortunately had a miscarriage at 14 weeks which could have been a cause). After the second time, the forward facing camera was replaced per Honda/Acura technical support. Once camera was replace vehicle would hard brake on it's own again which lead me to installing a dash cam to have proof which I provided to service to share with their technical support. In response they came back with vehicle is performing as designed and claiming the dash cam can be interfering with the system (BS!!) Since then, my wife refuses to sit in the car and I only drive it one a week for a short errand.

The contact owns a 2022 Acura MDX. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that the failure occurred at various speeds. The contact stated that the failure had been intermittent but had become a reoccurring failure. Additionally, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle had not been repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the windshield had tiny air bubbles inside the glass. The contact stated that during nighttime driving the oncoming headlights created a glare. There was also a glare created by the sunlight, creating an obstacle while driving in the daytime. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

- #11540532August 24, 2023VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
On 8/20/23 heading south on I-294 in Chicago : in center lane with cruise control on and no cars close in front of me when the car suddenly started a hard braking without warning. No orange warning to brake came on but engine warning light of left of dashboard was on. Immediately turned off cruise control. Car would not accelerate and came to a stop on the highway. Tried to start without success, then restarted and the car came on but in neutral. It had been placed in Park before shutting off. Car started and drove uneventfully back to Indianapolis. Took to Acura dealer and diagnostics were run showing that "position range" switch or sensor had been activated. Told it was safe to drive. We do not agree and are selling the car. Dealer, or service Dept was very lackadaisical about the incident. I will contact Acura corporate headquarters as well.

- #11534952July 28, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On at least 5 occasions my automatic braking system has engaged when there were no obstacles in front of the vehicle. This has happened when driving at higher speeds (approx. 50 mph) on Lake Shore Drive in the city of Chicago as well at speeds below 30 mph along residential streets in my neighborhood. When I mentioned this to the dealership, I was told that perhaps there was interference from metal guardrails during the higher speed triggering of the brakes. The residential area incidents have occurred when there was no cars or pedestrians anywhere on the street. I am worried that I will be rear ended because the braking is occurring unexpectedly with clear roads ahead.

- #11531192July 9, 2023STRUCTURE:BODY
The front bumper of the car is becoming unattached. There is a space underneath the headlights. The panel gap between the fender and front bumper has grown at the top, indicating the bumper is slipping from the top down. The problem appears to be getting worse. The plastic underneath the bumper is now becoming detached. I fear some of the clamps behind the bumper have failed. I also fear this may begin impacting critical systems and sensors behind the bumper. The Acura dealer denies any issue exists.

The contact owns a 2022 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while idling at a red light, a white-colored smoke began to emit from the front passenger tire wheel well. The contact was then alerted by a fellow motorist that the vehicle had caught fire. The contact exited the vehicle and called for assistance. The fire department arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. A police nor a fire report was filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed from the scene to the dealer where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be either repaired or destroyed. The failure mileage was 26,000.

As I was approaching an intersection the car engaged the brakes without reason and I was unable to drive the car. It forced the car to stop in the middle of a busy intersection. Thankfully no one else was around or behind my car, but this could have resulted in a very bad accident resulting in my being rear ended at high speeds. The car had 4 passengers, including 2 children in car seats. I am open to the car being inspected. I plan to take it to the dealership for this reason.

The collision mitigation braking engages independently with no objects in front of vehicle. I was going through a green light with no car in front of me. The car momentarily started to brake on its own.

Vehicle experienced reduced power and many alarm messages came up. I pulled to the side of the road to get out of traffic. I turned off the engine and attempted to restart, the engine would run for 5 seconds and then shutdown. I learned later that the turbo outlet hose had become detached from the hose fitting. It was under the motor and only accessible when the vehicle was on a hoist. The real reason for my complaint is that with the engine unable to stay running, the transmission could not be shifted to neutral and there is no shift lock feature to manually put the transmission in neutral either. So, if I had been stuck in traffic when the engine lost power, there would have been no way to push or tow the vehicle to a safe place. This seems like a function that would be important to have on a vehicle.
