Toyota has announced updates for its 2027 Tundra full-size pickup truck, featuring a sharpened exterior design, enhanced technology, and the introduction of an all-new Trailhunter package. These revisions aim to improve the truck's aesthetic appeal, off-road capability, and in-cabin experience. Full specifications and pricing for the 2027 Toyota Tundra are expected to be released in Fall 2026.

Refined Design and Expanded Capability

The 2027 Tundra's exterior receives a modern and purposeful front-end treatment. This design emphasizes strength and performance through a crisp, square front geometry and vertically aligned elements. The updated appearance maintains the Tundra's rugged character while incorporating a more refined and tailored look.

Across the lineup, the new front design features a wide, stable stance. Rectangular fog lights are integrated into the bumper, and grille designs adopt a hexagonal theme that varies by trim level. These design changes aim to support a broader range of customer needs, from work-ready utility to premium comfort.

Introducing the Trailhunter Package

A significant addition for 2027 is the new Trailhunter package, designed for overlanding enthusiasts. Based on the SR5 grade, this package enhances the Tundra's factory-built trail performance. It includes Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires and an Old Man Emu upgraded suspension system.

The Trailhunter package also features front recovery hooks and additional underbody protection for demanding terrain. Off-road technologies such as Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, and a locking rear differential are integrated to improve traction and control. Visually, the 2027 Toyota Tundra Trailhunter distinguishes itself with unique bronze-colored wheels and exclusive badges.

Advanced Technology and Safety Systems

The 2027 Toyota Tundra integrates the latest Toyota Audio Multimedia system, developed in North America. This system now comes standard with a 14-inch screen, offering an intuitive interface with customizable widgets and AT&T 5G network connectivity. Its embedded Voice Assistant functions provide faster responses to "Hey Toyota" prompts.

Digital features include a standard built-in Drive Recorder Dash Cam, capable of capturing 20-second clips of manual or triggered events using the vehicle's exterior cameras. Enhanced Digital Key functionality allows drivers to use compatible smart device digital wallet apps (Apple, Google, Samsung) for locking, unlocking, starting, and operating the vehicle. This feature also supports sharing access with up to five additional drivers and maintains NFC access even if the device battery is low. Additionally, i-FORCE MAX grades offer a 2.4kW inverter for powering various equipment.

Safety is addressed with the updated Toyota Safety Sense (TSS 4.0) suite, which includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Automatic High Beams (AHB), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Road Sign Assist (RSA), and Proactive Driving Assist (PDA). The Tundra also receives upgraded grille-mounted LED light bars and available RIGID® fog lights for improved visibility.

These updates for the 2027 Toyota Tundra demonstrate Toyota's focus on refining its full-size pickup offering. With a new overlanding package, advanced digital features, and comprehensive safety systems, the Tundra aims to meet the evolving demands of truck owners seeking capability, technology, and design.
