Nissan Formula E Team Prepares for Shanghai Double-Header
The Nissan Formula E Team is preparing for Rounds 12 and 13 of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship at the Shanghai International Circuit. This event marks the second Chinese stop for the series, with driver Oliver Rowland looking to advance his position in the Drivers' Championship.

The Nissan Formula E Team is heading to the Shanghai International Circuit for Rounds 12 and 13 of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. This event marks the series' second stop in China this season and represents the final six races of the GEN3 era. The team aims to improve its championship standing during this crucial double-header.
Race Details and Track Layout
The Shanghai E-Prix will feature two races, Rounds 12 and 13, taking place on Saturday and Sunday. This is the first Formula E campaign to include two different Chinese locations, following a previous visit to Sanya. The Shanghai International Circuit is a modified 3.051-kilometer layout with 12 turns.
The track is known for its challenging first sector, including the tightening opening corners and the complex Turns 3-4. Heavy braking zones at Turns 6 and 10 are identified as key overtaking opportunities. The wide track design is expected to facilitate overtaking, potentially making qualifying less critical than at other venues. Pit Boost will be active during Saturday's E-Prix.
Free Practice 1 is scheduled for Friday at 16:00 local time (UTC+8). Qualifying and the races will begin at 10:40 and 15:05 respectively on Saturday and Sunday.
Driver Outlook and Team Strategy
Driver Oliver Rowland, who previously secured a top-five finish in Shanghai during Season 10, will be looking to close the gap in the Drivers' Championship. He aims to secure a second consecutive title. The team is focused on recovering from a challenging race in Sanya where strategic efforts did not yield expected results due to incidents.
Teammate Norman Nato has a history of strong performances in Shanghai, having scored points there previously. However, Nato will face a grid penalty for Saturday's race due to gearbox damage sustained in Sanya, which the team principal noted was not his fault. Despite this, the team plans to maximize points across both races.
Energy management is expected to be a critical factor in Shanghai, an area where Nissan Formula E has demonstrated strength in recent races. The team aims to replicate this performance to achieve strong results in the Nissan Formula E Shanghai event.
Nissan's Presence in China
Nissan Formula E Team continues its collaboration with key partner Dongfeng Nissan for this event. Dongfeng Nissan, Nissan's joint venture in China, will host activations, guest programs, and fan activities throughout the race weekend. These activities will highlight Nissan's electric vehicle technology and its latest EV models launched for the Chinese market.
Dongfeng Nissan's branding will be prominently displayed on the team's cars, driver overalls, and garage walls. Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal for Nissan Formula E Team, emphasized the importance of the Chinese market for Nissan and the value of working with Dongfeng Nissan.
As the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship approaches its conclusion, the Nissan Formula E Shanghai E-Prix represents a significant opportunity for the Nissan Formula E Team to improve its standing in both the Drivers' and Teams' Championships, while also showcasing its electric vehicle technology in a key market.
