2026 Kia Seltos Debuts with New Platform, Hybrid Option

The 2026 Kia Seltos has been introduced as a re-engineered subcompact SUV, built on an entirely new K3 platform. Global production began in December 2025, with sales expected across key markets throughout 2026, featuring revised petrol engines and a new hybrid variant.

Enhanced Platform and Powertrains

The 2026 Kia Seltos is built on Kia's K3 platform, utilizing increased ultra-high-strength steel for enhanced body rigidity and a more composed driving experience. Aerodynamic improvements, including a rear spoiler, contribute to a drag coefficient of 0.31, an improvement from the previous model's 0.33.

Engine options vary by market. North America and Korea will offer a 2.0L, a 1.6T-GDI, and a 1.6L Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). European markets receive the 1.6T-GDI and 1.6L HEV. The new hybrid variant, launching in 2026, includes Kia's Smart Regenerative Braking System 3.0 and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality. A mechanical all-wheel drive system is available for 1.6-liter turbocharged models, and the Seltos Hybrid introduces e-AWD technology for improved traction.

Interior and Technology Upgrades

The interior of the 2026 Kia Seltos has been redesigned for improved usability and increased space. A 60 mm longer wheelbase provides an additional 25 mm of legroom and 12-14 mm of headroom. Luggage capacity has grown by 38 liters to 536 liters (VDA). A column-type Shift-by-Wire (SBW) system frees up center console space.

The cabin features a panoramic display with dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment, powered by Kia's connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) platform. A 12-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) projects key driving data. Connectivity includes Kia's AI Assistant for voice interaction and Digital Key 2 with ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for smartphone-based vehicle access. Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates are supported.

Safety Features and Market Availability

The 2026 Kia Seltos targets global safety standards, including five stars in North American NCAP (2WD) and a Top Safety Pick from IIHS. Safety enhancements include a reinforced dash cross-member and expanded use of ultra-high-strength steel. The Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 (FCA 2), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), Lane Keeping Assist 2, Safe Exit Warning, and a Surround View Monitor. Vehicle cybersecurity adheres to ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155 regulations.

Global production began in December 2025. The new Seltos will be available in Korea, North America, Europe, and China throughout 2026, reaching up to 189 countries. The hybrid variant will launch in Korea in January 2026, with subsequent availability in Europe, North America, and other markets later in the year.
