American Honda Motor Co., Inc. reported significant sales growth for June, the second quarter (Q2), and the first half of 2026, setting multiple new records. The company's total sales for June increased by 17% to 133,781 units, marking its best June in five years. This performance contributed to a strong first half, with 756,920 units sold, a 2.4% increase over the previous year and the best first half and quarterly result since 2021.

Overall Sales Performance and Electrified Growth

American Honda's robust sales were driven by both its Honda and Acura divisions, with passenger cars showing particular strength. Combined Honda and Acura passenger car sales achieved their best June, first half, and second quarter in five years, with June sales up 28%. This growth was supported by a balanced product lineup, including a range of fuel-efficient and affordable models.

Electrified models played a key role in Honda's success, achieving their best-ever June, second quarter, and first half sales. Hybrid vehicles now represent approximately 30% of total Honda sales, indicating a growing consumer preference for more efficient options. The company's vice president of auto sales, Lance Woelfer, noted that the value and fuel efficiency of Honda and Acura vehicles are attracting new buyers and retaining existing customers.

Honda Brand Highlights

The Honda brand alone saw its annual sales reach 687,205 units in the first half of 2026, a 2.5% increase, with June sales up 17%. The CR-V emerged as the #1 SUV in America for 2026, posting over 226,114 units in the first half, marking its best-ever first half (+6%) and second quarter (+16%). June sales for the CR-V increased by 30%, with hybrid models accounting for 55% of sales that month and 124,017 units in the first half.

Other Honda models also contributed to the strong performance. The Passport recorded its best-ever first half with 30,360 units sold, including a record June of 5,179 units, with rugged TrailSport trims making up over 80% of its sales. Honda's light truck sales, including the Odyssey (8,481 units in June) and Ridgeline (4,805 units in June), saw their best June (+12% to 80,418 units) and second quarter (+4.5%) in five years. The HR-V was up 7% in June with 11,743 units, and the Pilot increased over 5% to 9,668 units in the same period. Honda passenger car sales jumped 15% year-to-date to 224,231 units, led by the Civic (22,805 units in June) and Accord, which saw sales up over 32% year-to-date and 41% for the quarter. Hybrid trims represented 43% of Accord sales and 30% of Civic sales.

Acura Brand Performance

Acura experienced a 13% increase in June sales, totaling 12,313 units, contributing to a 2% growth in the first half with 69,715 units sold, its best first half since 2023. This growth was attributed to strong customer retention and new customer acquisitions. The brand's gateway models, the ADX and Integra, collectively sold over 30,000 units in the first half for the first time.

The ADX premium gateway crossover had its second-best month of the year in June, with over 3,100 units sold (+58%), reaching 16,554 units year-to-date, and a 94% growth in Q2. The ADX maintains its segment leadership with approximately 30% of retail sales. The Integra continued its strong sales momentum with an 85% increase in June and a 42% rise in first-half sales, exceeding 14,000 units. It leads its segment with over 40% of retail sales. Acura SUVs also achieved their best June in five years, with the flagship MDX marking its fourth consecutive month of over 4,000 units, showing a 40% increase in June, 16% in Q2, and 10% year-to-date for 2026.

These Honda sales records 2026 reflect a strong market position for American Honda, with both its Honda and Acura brands demonstrating significant growth across various segments. The increasing demand for electrified models and the continued popularity of key SUVs and passenger cars indicate a positive outlook for the company's performance in the remainder of 2026.
