Jett Lawrence Dominates Hangtown MX, Honda Secures 1-2 Finish

Jett Lawrence returned to dominant form at the 2026 Hangtown Motocross Classic, securing a 1-1 sweep in the 450MX class. His brother, Hunter Lawrence, finished second overall, marking a 1-2 finish for Honda HRC Progressive. 450MX Class Domination

After a third-place overall finish at the season opener, Jett Lawrence, riding his CRF450RWE, topped qualifying and won both 450MX motos at Hangtown. Despite a still-healing ankle, Lawrence controlled the races from the front, securing his first overall victory of the 2026 season. His consistent speed was evident, posting the fastest lap times in both motos.

Hunter Lawrence, who had a strong showing the previous week, continued his impressive form. He finished second in both motos, showcasing his signature consistency and speed. Hunter applied pressure to his younger brother throughout Moto 2 after a red flag restart, ultimately securing second overall and maintaining his lead in the championship points.

250MX Class Progress

In the 250MX division, Honda HRC Progressive riders Jo Shimoda and Chance Hymas demonstrated significant improvement from the opening round. Shimoda secured a solid third-place finish in Moto 1 and, despite a first-turn incident in Moto 2, charged through the pack to finish sixth in that moto, earning fifth overall.

Chance Hymas also showed promising speed, finishing fifth in Moto 1. Like Shimoda, he was caught in a multi-rider crash at the start of Moto 2 but mounted a determined comeback, finishing 12th in the moto and eighth overall. Their performances indicated positive progress in their season.

Championship Outlook and Next Race

Following the Hangtown event, Hunter Lawrence leads the 450MX championship standings with 94 points, closely followed by Jett Lawrence with 88 points. Honda's victory at Hangtown extends its premier-class overall win record at the venue to 21. The 2026 WMX series also saw strong performances from Red Riders, with Charli Cannon finishing second overall and Mikayla Nielsen placing third overall.

Honda HRC Progressive now looks ahead to the Thunder Valley National Motocross in Lakewood, Colorado. Hunter Lawrence will continue to carry the red plate on his CRF450RWE, and the event will also mark the second round of the WMX Championship, where Cannon and Nielsen are expected to compete again.
