American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) has initiated a special request for dealerships to identify and report specific 2024-2025 Honda Civic and CR-V vehicles. This initiative aims to gather more information on instances where the vehicle's air conditioning system is A/C blowing warm air due to a seized A/C compressor.

The goal of this program is to better understand the root cause of the Honda Civic CR-V A/C compressor seizure issue before any repairs are attempted. This is not a recall but an information-gathering effort by the manufacturer to address a potential emerging concern.

Symptoms of the Issue

Owners of affected 2024-2025 Honda Civic and CR-V vehicles may notice their air conditioning system is not functioning correctly. The primary symptom is the A/C system blowing warm air instead of cold air.

Technicians inspecting these vehicles are expected to confirm that the A/C system is inoperative (INOP) specifically due to a seized A/C compressor. This condition is identified by the OEM identifier 38810.

Vehicle Eligibility and Conditions

AHM is interested in inspecting vehicles that meet specific criteria for the Honda Civic CR-V A/C compressor seizure. Your vehicle must satisfy all of the following requirements:

• The vehicle must be equipped with a 1.5L Turbo engine.
• A technician must confirm that the A/C system is INOP because of a seized A/C compressor (OEM identifier 38810).
• There must be no prior HVAC system repair, including A/C refrigerant evacuation, recharge, or replacement of HVAC components.
• No repair attempts should have been made during the current service visit for this specific issue.
• The vehicle must have no history of collisions.

What Owners Should Do

If your 2024-2025 Honda Civic or CR-V meets the eligibility criteria for the Honda Civic CR-V A/C compressor seizure, you should contact your Honda dealership. Dealership personnel are instructed to email Technical Information & Support (TIS) at [email protected] or call 800-880-1072 (Monday-Friday, 7am-5pm PST).

When contacting your dealership or TIS, be prepared to provide the following information:

• Vehicle Model Year (e.g., 2024)
• Vehicle Model Name (e.g., Civic or CR-V)
• The specific issue (e.g., A/C compressor seizure or A/C blowing warm air)
• Your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

Additionally, the dealership will need to provide their Dealer Number, your name, best phone number, current mileage, confirmation that your vehicle meets all five qualifiers, and a DPTS #.

Important Notes for Owners

It is crucial that no repair attempts are made on the A/C system before AHM has had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle. This includes any refrigerant evacuation, recharge, or component replacement. AHM wants to inspect the vehicle in its original failed state to accurately diagnose the cause of the seized A/C compressor.
