During RSU installation, it is recommended to exit and lock the vehicle, ensuring no devices are connected to the on-board diagnosis connector. 2. Programming via ISTA

If the RSU method is not applicable (e.g., if the software version to be installed is lower than S18A-24-11-525), programming can be performed using ISTA (Integrated Service Technical Application) version 4.50.1x or higher, released October 24, 2024. This involves:

• Connecting a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply, as detailed in SI B04 23 10.
• Programming the vehicle using ISTA to achieve the target integration level of S18A-24-11-525 or higher.
• Performing a vehicle test and clearing any fault memory.

ISTA will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
