TSB: Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) is a critical step in satisfying our new car customers. Customer feedback indicates the following areas deserve special attention when performing PDS: ? Careful inspection for paint chips/scratches and body dents/dings. ? Proper operation of electrical accessories (including interior light, clock, and radio reset). ? Interior cleanliness. ? Proper function of mechanical systems. Customer retention and proper maintenance of vehicles has been a major focus for Toyota. To help remind customers that regular oil changes are essential to the proper maintenance of their vehicle, dealers are required to begin installing a first oil change reminder sticker prior to delivery. By doing this, customers will be reminded to return to your dealership for their first oil change. Your current oil change reminder sticker may be used. (See PDS Check Sheet item 8 of ?Final Inspection & Cleaning.?)

Dealer Letter: Toyota will be sending Limited Service Campaign Notices to remind owners whose vehicles have not yet had Smart Stop Technology installed on their vehicle under LSC BST. Initial notification informing customers of the availability of Smart Stop Technology on certain models was handled by the court appointed administrator Gilardi and Company at the onset of the Class Action Settlement for Economic Loss. In addition to the initial notification, Toyota will be sending notifications to customers informing them of this LSC. These notifications are an integral part of our commitment to meet customer expectations of the Toyota products. We request your assistance in completing the Smart Stop Technology as owners receive the BST and contact your dealership. Please note the follow-up activity may cause an increase in your current campaign owner appointments.

Tech Tip: Starting with the 2010 Model Year, Toyota began a gradual transition to the use of synthetic 0w20 viscosity engine oil. There are multiple benefits of this oil including: Reduced friction and wear on engine surfaces, Improved fuel economy, Reduction in waste oil stream (in vehicles approved for 10,000 mile oil change intervals), Reduced maintenance cost (in vehicles approved for 10,000 mile oil change intervals). Due to the improved performance and durability of 0w20 synthetic oil, Toyota has extended the oil change intervals to 10,000 mile for most vehicles that require this oil. With this change, the following should be noted: The 2TR-FE (4Runner/Tacoma) and the 3UR-FBE (Flex Fuel Tundra/Sequoia) are the exceptions to this new change interval program; these engines have not been approved for the 10,000 mile interval at this time. A 5,000 mile oil change interval is still required for these vehicles. Also, the Flex Fuel 3UR-FBE requires a 2,500 mile interval when operated on E85 50% of the time or more. Only Toyota vehicles in which 0w20 oil is mandatory (except for the 2TR-FE & 3UR-FBE Engines) have been approved for extended oil change intervals. Vehicles in which 0w-20 is an option to 5w20 (or 5w30) will continue to require 5,000 mile change intervals, even if 0w20 oil is used. In case of vehicles with 10,000 mile oil change intervals, the 5,000 mile service interval has not been eliminated. The traditional 5,000 mile maintenance procedures (such as tire rotation) will continue to be required, and the fluid levels (including engine oil) will need to be checked and adjusted at this time. If the vehicle operation meets the standard criteria for "Special Operating Conditions" such as: driving off-road, on dirt roads, towing a trailer, making repeated short trips under 32 degrees F, or extensive idling, the engine oil must be replaced at 5,000 mile intervals, regardless of oil used.

TSB: Safety Recall CSJ (?2006 ? 2011 RAV4; Rear Lower Suspension Arm No. 1?) involves inspection of the Rear Suspension Arm No. 1 for the presence of rust, replacement of the suspension arm if necessary, and application of an epoxy material to disable the adjustment function of the suspension arm. Therefore, any vehicle which has had Safety Recall CSJ completed will no longer have a rear wheel toe adjustment. If a vehicle exhibits a steering wheel off-center condition or rear toe alignment out of specification after Safety Recall CSJ has been completed, follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin to address this condition.
