As I was driving, all of the brake lights turned on on the dashboard. The moment the lights turned on the brake power felt low on heavier pedal depression. I took the car in to the dealership for assessment and said they found internal failure of both brake actuator and booster and recommended replacement of both actuator pump and booster. I have had both the parts replaced and after now the second replacement of the master cylinder, there is still an error code for the pressure cylinder and all the brake lights are on.

the car was serviced regularly and for unknown reason the engine started running rough. I took it the mechanic and after completing a diagnostic test he said i have a blown had gasket in the engine. After reading online about the issue i discovered this year and model of toyota are notorious for having a blown head gasket issue. My mechanic recommended the engine be replaced. This is an expensive repair and toyota is denying any accountability about the issue

Driving on freeway my prius V started shaking violently from what appeared to be overheating of water pump failure or the coolant invertor pump. I believe this to be a known issue Toyota is aware of when I took my Prius into Camelback Toyota in Phoenix they said they could not recreate the issues. I know this was powertrain failure that could have caused me to crash on the freeway.

The brake had an issue while driving. It was hard to stop the car. It is probably due to the brake booster. I had this issue and I took my car to the dealership and they could not find the problem. I had the same issue again while driving. Luckily, when both problems happened, I drove slowly on the local roads. Toyota had recalled those specific models but the length of the warranty is not long enough to solve the problem. For instance, they gave a second warranty, either 10 years or 150K miles, which hits first. I got this brake problem 6 months later after the warranty expired. But my mileage is low ~118K. For drivers' safety, they should extend the length of the warranty. The two parts are expensive (~4-5K in total) and apparently, that's the problem with the design of the auto parts. Customers should not pay for them and risk their own life.

The brake booster begins to show signs of failure and Toyota refuses to address it citing expired warranty. The faulty brake booster in Toyota Prius is a known issue to Toyota since there are numerous accidents happened because of it and a class action lawsuit brought against Toyota.

In September 2022, my car, a 2012 Toyota Prius V with 79, 056 miles, began making noises in the engine area and the brakes became loose, meaning it took more pressure on the brake pedal to engage the brakes. In November 2022 the following warning lamps on the dashboard came on: Master Warning Light, Brake System Warning Light and Warning Buzzer, Brake System Warning Light, ABS Warning Light and SLIP Indicator. I took it to the Toyota Dealership near me: Lipton Toyota in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and they diagnosed car with the trouble code of C1391-Abnormal Leak of Accumulator, Internal ABS Actuator Failure. To fix this problem, Lipton Toyota will charge $3124.29 for the repair. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. issued a customer support program notification that would cover this repair if the malfunctions happened before coverage ended. Primary Coverage was applicable until December 31, 2021 with no year/mileage limitation. Secondary Coverage was applicable for 10 years from the vehicle's date of first use or 150,000 whichever occurs first. Date of first use on my Prius V was 03/01/2012 and my mileage is 79K. So as you can see, I am just out of the coverage window. My private mechanic and myself have appealed our case to Toyota that this problem should be a recall with no limits on coverage. (Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. - case reference # 230206000678) I believe that if I had driven my car more, (which was not done because of the Pandemic 2020-2021) this issue would have come up before the cut off date for repair coverage. I also believe that this problem with the Brake Booster and Brake Booster Pump Assemblies on certain 2012-2014 model year Prius V vehicles should be a recall.

As my wife was driving my children to school All the lights on my 2013 Prius V dash came on as I was driving on December 2, 2022. All braking power became stiff and it was hard for me to stop. I pulled over turned off my car called AAA. When the AAA driver came to check out the vehicle she was surprised he told me “oh ya this is a common problem. He told me is most likely was the ABS master cylinder and brake boosters needing to be replaced. I would take it to Lithia Toyota of Missoula. A representative from BOSCH came to look at the vehicle made a special appointment for this person to meet me and my wife at my local Toyota dealership. They checked the car and told me there wasn’t a problem with my brakes. The Bosch representative said the car was fine. My wife and I would then leave and exactly one week my wife called me at work to say all the lights on the dash would came on again as she was driving. We would then take it back to Lithia Toyota for them to tell me it was the ABS braking system and I would need to spend $5000 to get the car repaired. Parts and labor. Her car is only worth 11500. They wanted me to spend more then half of what the car was worth. I would research and learn so many people are having this issue. There was a “customer support program that ended at the end of August 2022. This would be there way of weaseling themselves out of the issue. I am reporting this to help me and other drivers. Please don’t ignore. There are TOO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR YOU TO IGNORE. People have HAD MAJOR ACCIDENTS my wife and Children’s lives were at jeopardy due to your incompetence of over looking this issue.

I was driving at night and several brake related dashboard lights suddenly lit up and I wasn’t able to use my brakes. I managed to coast safely to a stop, called a tow truck, and got my car home. Mechanic found a c1391 code and told me to go to Toyota. Toyota says the accumulator has a leak and it causes the brake up issue, but the service plan free program to fix it expired. They want $5000 to fix it. I want Toyota to extend the plan because I didn’t drive as much during the pandemic and I would have had the issue earlier had I been driving at normal amounts,

All the lights on my dash lit up. I took it immediately to Toyota of Dallas . I tried numerous times connecting with Dimatrius service manager. No call back. An inspection was done on the vehicle. He stated it would be a $5000 job and I was out of warranty. Their is too many people having this issue if you search many 2012-2014 people are having this issue in a addition to to a google search search for a letter at Capistrano Toyota.

I was parked in my driveway and put my 2014 Toyota Prius in reverse to back up and park in front of my late husband’s workshop about 15 ft. away,on Oct. 10, 2022. The car sped up so fast I could not brake fast enough (no warning). It stopped when it hit the large door of the workshop, and damaged it and the back of my car, costing about $2,000 to the car. I contacted my insurance agent right away, and the person above him at the company the next day, as well as the service manager at the Toyota dealer where we bought the car at the end of 2014. I expect an increase in my premium from my insurance company. I’ll take it to Toyota when it’s done at the auto body shop, but I don’t expect any flaw to be found b/c that is what happened when I had the same kind of accident with this car in Jan., 2022, when I put the car in reverse to back down my long driveway, (which I’d done many times before),and it sped up so fast (SUA) that I couldn’t stop it (no warning). It hit a maple tree in my yard, and it cost about $12,000 to fix the back of my car. I was not injured in either accident, but this flawed accelerator could have caused serious injury to me or others, as it has in many documented accidents in the last 20 years. From the reports I’ve read since my accident last week, thousands of people have experienced similar or worse accidents from a Sudden Unintended Acceleration in their Toyota vehicle. Also, I read in an excellent well-researched and independent report that NHTSA has not researched the accelerator problem thoroughly and has remained noncommittal as to its possible flaws. Toyota wanted to take the “black box” from my Prius in 2022 after my accident, but I didn’t trust them to take it, and tried hard to find an independent engineering group with advanced degrees to study it and identify the flaw in it. I will try again to find such a group. The floor mat was NOT an issue at all—it’s the original one, stuck to the floor about 4” from the accelerator.
