- #11741040May 30, 2026BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
The rear backup camera on this vehicle is excessively dim and difficult to see under normal daylight and ambient lighting conditions. The camera image is so dark that it significantly impairs the ability to detect obstacles, pedestrians, and other hazards behind the vehicle when reversing. This is a safety defect because the backup camera is federally-mandated safety equipment under FMVSS 111. The vehicle has no brightness or display settings available to correct the issue. The problem appears to be present from the factory. No aftermarket solutions are available to correct the factory camera output. The problem has been present since the vehicle was new and is consistent, not intermittent. The issue creates a hazardous condition any time the vehicle is reversed, as the camera does not adequately display what is behind the vehicle.

- #11738098May 15, 2026BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
The contact owns a 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. The contact stated that due to the position of the camera, the glare of the sun would obstruct the contact's vision which made it difficult for the contact to view any objects while in reverse(R). The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there are no recalls on the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA ID Number: 25V369000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the contact's VIN was not included in the recall. The contact made multiple attempts to reach the manufacturer but his calls were never answered. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15.

- #11738062May 15, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN
Each time for the last year and a half that I have taken my car in for service or just stopped in and showed them that my radio is saying overheated current, they would test it and say that they couldn't recreate the error despite me showing that it would not connect my phone to the car or charge. I also reported having a random warning that my car was unleveled when driving and they said the computer shows no errors. When I last took my car in for an oil change 1/30/26 I had a break check done because my brakes acted like they didn't want to stop and were making a sound. They told me that my breaks and rotors were find and probably needed to be washed. The sound is louder now so i went to schedule my oil change and make the reports again to find out that the company closed down and there is no dealer close to my location. I filed a CFPB complaint due to the Mitsubishi telling me there is nothing they can do.

I was turning out of my neighborhood and as I accelerated to merge with traffic my car started jerking. My dashboard “D” symbol only started flashing on and off and then my transmission service required light came on, (just had it done 8/25 and it is 11/25) and the BSW service required light came on as well. As I continued down the street everytime I pressed on the gas pedal the car kept jerking backwards and forward.

When backing up the rear camera display is too dark to see. I have altered the settings for display from auto, to night, to day, and also adjusted the brightness level all the way up, but nothing changes. It remains the same and you can't safely see what is on the camera display.

I am unsure of the proper name of the component with issues. There are several little issues but the main is, I believe it would be a software issue... Basically, on several different occasions (4) while driving at 60 mph and over, the vehicle suddenly stalled and shut off completely with no warning. The one incident which was the very first while I was driving less than 1 month ago. I was on a two lane road/freeway with another passenger in the back seat going somewhere between 60 and 65 mph. The car went completely black and everything shut down the entire vehicle, engine and all. I was in complete shock and end up scraping my front left rim on the curb I was next to, damaging the vehicle as a result. I am just recently out of my warranty and I do not have the funds to have it looked at just yet. I did inform the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from. I originally thought it was something maybe I had done to cause it. I also was completely unaware of any recalls on several of the year and model of my vehicle. When I looked up recalls on them, my vehicle has very similar issues to a lot of other cars like It that have already been recalled. I am upset because if I had known there were potential safety issues with these particular make and model car I would have not wanted to finance it, especially at the price point I have. It seems that several thousand were recalled a few months before I financed mine. Why wouldn’t I be notified that there could be potential safety issues when I was looking at the vehicle for purchase? Now here we are and I don’t think it is a safe vehicle. I need to do something.. I am not sure I want to keep it honestly ! What can I do? Please let me know at your earliest convenience. Car during acceleration feels very jerky, safety issue as during turns if acceleration it might jerk make it feel a bit unknown of what speed it might be. additionally such jerkiness might cause driver to be kicked back into seat and head rest potentially causing injury. Feel like it might be CVT slipping at times.

- #11641459February 8, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Driving home with no other cars around the forward collision warning goes off for no reason losing power and slowing down on it's own. This has been an ongoing situation since the car was new, I've made numerous attempts to have my local dealership look into this situation and all they tell me is to take video when it happens.

I have 40,000 miles on my vehicle, only owner and drive 28 miles to and from work a day. The entire Infotainment center is not usuable, I called the dealership I purchased it from and they said the warranty is 36,000 miles. How on a brand new car do you get 36,000 for a system that controls everything inside your car.

- #11595999June 23, 2024BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING, VISIBILITY/WIPER, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Back up camera view is not clear, unreliable sixty percent of the time. Not able to see pedestrians or objects clearly or the distance from the vehicle. Twenty percent of the times it is clouded so dark it useless. Twenty percent of the time it is clear. Safety of others is at risk. Problem was reported to dealer twice at the location I purchased the vehicle. They ruled it off. The problem was reported to the manufacturer with no return call or response. The problem was reported to a different dealer which informed me that the manufacturer is not doing any repairs. The vehicle is available for inspection anytime. I have cleaned the camera lens and monitor screen with no good results. This is the second vehicle of this style from the same manufacturer I have owned. The first vehicle had no issues and both vehicles were shown to the dealer service department as well as sales crew.

I had a recall on this vehicle for the CVT software update which i got fixed by mitsubishi at the dealership but now its doing the same thing and seems worse, everytime I push on the gas it does not excelerate and usually gets stuck at 30-45MPH no matter how much i press on the gas, and the rpms get stuck at 3-4 thousand rpms which causes a safety threat when we are driving. I did some research and found out that this a well known issue with mitsubishi and its outlander sports vehicles I’m not sure what to do from here.
