  Some customers may complain about a tapping or knocking noise coming from the rear seat after fuel fill. The concern will likely occur if the fuel tank is overfilled (more fuel is added after the fuel pump nozzle shuts off automatically) or filled up normally in high ambient temperatures and the fuel expands. No repair is needed. Explain to the customer not to continue filling after nozzle shut off. Refer customer to Owner's Manual Warning:

  The new AWD rear differential DOES NOT come with a breather cap on the rear of the differential, therefore a new one will need to be ordered and installed when replacing the differential. NOTE: The breather threads have a sealant and locking compound that prevents it from being reused. Refer to GEPC for the correct part number of the Differential Breather. The instructions on MGSS will be updated soon to include replacing the breather when replacing the differential with a new unit.

  Some vehicles may exhibit the following malfunctions: 1. The film on the center display is peeling off, as shown in the illustration below. This may be caused by cleaning the center display surface. Water and/or a cleaning solution may get into the scratches on the film and cause the film to start peeling. To eliminate this concern, the anti-reflective film has been modified to reduce scratches during cleaning. 2. The map on the center display may scroll by itself (without operating the map). The thermal expansion and contraction of the touch panel may cause a deformation. Loosening of the touch panel resulting in increased wire resistance may be causing the map malfunction. To eliminate this concern, a protection film has been added in the touch panel to prevent deformation.

  Some vehicles may exhibit either or both of the following symptoms. 1. The SCBS warning light is illuminated with DTC U045A:68 [FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC)]. U045A:68 Error signal received from parking assist unit 2. The parking sensor indicator is flashing with one or more of the following DTCs of PARKING ASSIST SYSTEM. B1B36:14 Front corner ultrasonic sensor (RH) circuit malfunction B1B36:2A Front corner ultrasonic sensor (RH) characteristic malfunction B1B38:14 Front ultrasonic sensor (RH) circuit malfunction B1B38:2A Front ultrasonic sensor (RH) characteristic malfunction B1B40:14 Front corner ultrasonic sensor (LH) circuit malfunction B1B40:2A Front corner ultrasonic sensor (LH) characteristic malfunction B1B42:14 Front ultrasonic sensor (LH) circuit malfunction B1B42:2A Front ultrasonic sensor (LH) characteristic malfunction Due to insufficient waterproof performance of the front harness short cords (1), water may enter in and accumulate in the C-11 (LH) or C-12 (RH) connectors (2) causing a short circuit between wires and an improper signal being sent from the parking (ultrasonic) sensor to the parking sensor unit. To eliminate this concern, the production process of the front harness short cord has been improved to increase waterproof performance.

  Summary

  Some CX-5 and CX-30 customers may find that the liftgate does not close when pressing the power liftgate (PLG) rear switch (A) located on the interior liftgate trim. This may be caused by PLG switch corrosion. Water from a high pressure car washer and/or condensation may drip onto the switch connector and cause corrosion. To eliminate this concern, the PLG rear switch has been modified with a waterproof connector. Some Mazda3, CX-30 and MX-30 customers may complain that the vehicle door locking system does not work when the door lock switch on the liftgate interior trim is pressed. DTC B11C4:23 (BCM - liftgate lock switch circuit malfunction) may be stored. This may be caused during a high pressure car wash and/or condensation. Water may enter through the rear center brand emblem base component and drip onto the switch connector causing corrosion. The rusted connector may also cause a battery drain. To eliminate this concern, the rear center brand emblem base has been modified to prevent water entry (Mazda3) and the rear harness has been modified to prevent water infiltration (Mazda3, CX-30 and MX-30).

  Some vehicles equipped with Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) may experience a BSM indicator light on the outer door mirror, even if there is no vehicle in the alert (blind spot) area. NOTE: This concern occurs only after a cold start. As the BSM control module temperature rises, the BSM system returns to normal operation. Due to BSM control module production variances, a false detection may occur in some units when the BSM temperature in the control module has not yet reached normal operating temperature. To eliminate this concern, the control logic of the BSM control module has been modified.
