2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid – Purchased 9/5/2025 Mileage: 8,450 April 2026- While driving over 60 mph, the vehicle's acceleration failed. A "Hybrid Failure" warning appeared on the dashboard, and the vehicle quickly decelerated. I had seconds to safely cross 3 lanes, and the vehicle had to be towed. The vehicle was at the dealership for 13 days, during which no problem codes were reported, and diagnostic scans appeared normal. No safety feature or diagnostic system reported this failure! I was told to take the vehicle because they had nothing to fix without a diagnostic report. May 2026- I drove the vehicle for a few weeks before this occurred again, with the same warning and complete deceleration. The vehicle was brought to a 2nd dealership, nearest to this incident. They have had the vehicle for 29 days with no safety or diagnostic issues to report and no ability to duplicate the problem. During this occurrence, my daughter was able to video the dashboard and deceleration from the passenger seat. I have provided this video to KIA. The national KIA team is refusing a buy-out option for this vehicle after my family and I have repeatedly been put in danger on the road. It also puts drivers around us in danger as we frantically attempt to proceed to safety while quickly decelerating. It is also extremely alarming that the safety systems and diagnostics do not show that these problems are occurring. While the local dealership has been understanding and professional to date; however, the National brand and its refusal to put safety first, especially on a brand-new vehicle, is unacceptable. We can provide the video and any other documentation you would like. We will be engaging with an attorney after Kia National declined our buyback

- #11747450June 30, 2026BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
I am reporting an intermittent but serious safety issue with my Kia Carnival involving the backup camera system. Since approximately May 2026, the rear backup camera has failed more than 10 times. When the issue occurs, the display will either: Show a completely blank screen, Flicker repeatedly, or Turn into a solid green screen. Once the failure begins, it continues even after repeatedly turning the vehicle off and back on. The system only starts working again after the vehicle has remained powered off for several hours. This is a significant safety hazard because when the backup camera fails, the parking assist system/sensors also stop functioning. As a result, while reversing, I lose both the camera view and the audible/object detection assistance. This substantially increases the risk of backing into a pedestrian, child, cyclist, or another vehicle, especially in parking lots and residential areas. The problem has occurred more than 10 times over the past several weeks. I have taken multiple videos clearly documenting the failures, including the blank screen, flickering display, and green screen. I have brought the vehicle to the Kia dealership for inspection. However, because the problem is intermittent and could not be reproduced during their inspection, they stated that they were unable to diagnose or repair the issue. Despite this, I have video evidence demonstrating the recurring failure. This appears to be an intermittent electronic or software defect affecting a critical safety system. A backup camera is an important safety feature intended to help prevent backover crashes. The simultaneous loss of both the camera display and parking sensors creates an unacceptable safety risk. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue to determine whether it represents a broader defect affecting Kia Carnival vehicles and whether a recall or other corrective action is warranted before this defect contributes to a serious injury or fatality.

**Vehicle:** 2025 Kia Carnival **Current Mileage:** Approximately 18,000 miles I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety defect involving the center LCD display in my 2025 Kia Carnival. The problem began immediately after the vehicle's first scheduled service at an authorized Kia dealership and has continued ever since. The center LCD screen intermittently flickers and then goes completely blank while I am driving. When this happens, the rearview camera image is also lost while the vehicle is in Reverse, leaving the display completely black and preventing me from seeing behind the vehicle during backing. This creates a significant safety hazard and increases the risk of striking a pedestrian, child, vehicle, or other object. The display failure while driving is also extremely distracting because critical vehicle information and functions become unavailable. I have taken the vehicle to authorized Kia dealerships multiple times for warranty repairs, but the defect remains unresolved. The LCD display has been replaced, yet the problem continues to occur. The dealerships have kept my vehicle for extended periods during several repair attempts without permanently correcting the issue. Service dates include: * September 9, 2025 * March 10, 2026 * March 18, 2026 * June 1, 2026 The issue is intermittent but repeatedly occurs without warning. I transport my family, including infants, in this vehicle, and I am extremely concerned about their safety and the safety of others. Losing the backup camera and display while reversing or driving creates an unacceptable safety risk. I believe this may be a safety-related defect affecting the vehicle's display system. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue because multiple warranty repair attempts, including replacement of the display, have failed to resolve the defect.

- #11746822June 26, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The vehicle began shaking and having ABS problems when driving at ~30 mph after having driven for several miles without issue. The vehicle did not have any history of problems or recent symptoms and was just over one year old. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. The dealership reported a broken driver side front wheel speed sensor wire and attributed it to rodent damage without other evidence.

Van made a loud pop noise and lost power. The HSG belt tensioner spring fell off it's seat loosing tension on the HSG belt. Was unsafe but luckily it happened before getting on the freeway, and coasted into a parking lot. Yes, it's at the dealership getting a replacement tensioner and belt. I believe so. No notification prior to failure, it was sudden.

- #11743703June 12, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I am writing to formally complain about the delay in repairing my vehicle under an active recall involving the fuel system/crossover fuel pump. I have been informed that the required part is on backorder and that the repair may not be available until the end of July. My concern is that I am experiencing strong fuel fumes in and around the vehicle. The odor is severe enough that it is causing headaches, and I do not feel it is safe for me or my children to ride in the vehicle. Given that this recall involves a fuel-related component, I am extremely concerned about both the health effects of continued exposure to the fumes and the potential risk of fire. At this time, I do not believe the vehicle is safe to operate. I am requesting that Kia provide an immediate solution, including one or more of the following: A loaner vehicle until the recall repair can be completed; Rental vehicle reimbursement; Expedited repair assistance; or Any other reasonable accommodation that ensures my family's safety.

Subject: Safety Complaint – Power Sliding Door Failure Injuring Child (2026 Kia Carnival) I am submitting a safety complaint regarding a 2026 Kia Carnival. During normal use, the vehicle’s automatic power sliding door closed while my [XXX] child was partially outside the vehicle near the door track area. The door continued to close and did not stop or reverse when it encountered my child, resulting in the child being pinned between the sliding door and the vehicle body. I physically intervened by placing my body in the path of the door to stop it and remove my child. The child sustained bruising to the legs and torso. The concern is a potential failure of the anti-pinch / obstruction detection system on the power sliding door, which is intended to prevent this type of injury. I am requesting that this incident be documented and reviewed as a potential safety defect. Vehicle: 2026 Kia Carnival Incident involved: automatic power sliding door failure to reverse upon obstruction Injury: bruising to a [XXX] child (legs and torso) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We purchased this vehicle toward the end of 2024. Within the first 10 months, there were two major recall issues with this vehicle. The recalls were for the 2nd row seating becoming detached from the frame of the vehicle and the other recall was for the computer logic board having the chance of dying and/or frying. These recalls were less than 10 months since date of purchase. There is now another National Recall on this vehicle that was initiated on April 10, 2026. We are a non profit organization and this vehicle is part of our necessary fleet. We called the dealership and was told to bring it in. We brought it in the following week and was told they were not notified yet of a recall. We were told to call back in like 2-3 weeks. We then called back three weeks later and were scheduled to bring the car in for repair. When we arrived at the dealership, we were told "Oh we don't have the parts to fix this. Call back in a few weeks." We waited another three weeks and called back and were scheduled to bring the car in for repair. Now today (June 11, 2026) I went to the dealership and was told once again..."Oh we don't have the parts. Call back in like a month." Now, this recall states that the car should not be driven as the fuel leak is a high chance for a fire. We are desperately trying to have this taken back to the dealership as a lemon car because after we bought this car there have now been three emergent recalls on this car. We paid a lot of money to be able to use this vehicles for our non profit work and over an 18 month period, the car has been out of service for well over 6 months. Dealership seems unable or unwilling to help us. Dealership is: Mark Kia 3333 N 89th St. Scottsdale, AZ 85251

- #11742376June 5, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I had pickup my vehicle from the dealership where it had been since the 29th of May due to a previous incident exactly the same as what occurred this time. The vehicle had been returned to me as the service department could find nothing wrong from the May 29th incident. On my way home from the dealership, the vehicle started the same as on May 29th. When accelerating from a stoplight, I lost all propulsion. After about 60 seconds the vehicle recovered and I turned to go back to the dealership. At the aforementioned intersection (crossing over I35) it again lost propulsion, only this time for a longer period of time. I was in heavy traffic and the car behind me was honking even though I had my hazard warning flashers operating! I made it to the dealership where the service manager agreed to do a ride along. We were about to the end of the ride along when the vehicle lost propulsion power. It wasn’t as severe and recovered quickly. The service manager said he had noticed the brake pedal move at the time I accelerated. His theory was that the brake being applied at the same time as the acceleration cause the computer to get confused and it’s reaction was to remove propulsion. No offer was given to take the vehicle back for further testing. I dropped the service manager off and proceeded to return home, being cognizant of my foot placement and insuring it was well away from the brake when accelerating. KIA Care has so far refused to get involved. While I recognize braking at the time of acceleration is counterproductive, it should not cause a catastrophic propulsion failure. Plus the system sets no flags that it had this event! I have tried recreating this failure by using my left foot on the brake while accelerating with my right. This doesn’t recreate the problem so it must be a timing issue. I do not know if this issue is unique to my vehicle or is shared with other hybrids! If KIA Care refuses to investiga, the lemon law might have to be invoked!

Fuel leak at pipe connection between the fuel pipe and fuel rail. Nuts securing the high-pressure crossover fuel pipe to the fuel rail loosened, leaking raw fuel, leading to risk of fire. This has been reported and confirmed by Ron Bouchard Kia, of Lancaster, MA, USA. It is a part of Kia Recall SC368 (NHTSA ID: 26V232). We noticed the vehicle was leaking a substance in April 2025. After receiving recall notice in April 2026, we brought the vehicle in to be check on XXX. We were informed on XXX by phone that our vehicle was affected and fell under this recall. I am filing this complaint to report a recurring, life-threatening safety defect in my 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid involving the battery and hybrid propulsion system. This defect has occurred twice, and despite dealer repair attempts, it has not been resolved. On both occasions, while the vehicle was in operation, the hybrid system failed without warning. The vehicle displayed a hybrid system failure alert, lost the ability to accelerate normally, and became unable to maintain safe driving speeds. On the most recent occurrence, the sudden and unexpected loss of vehicle power created an immediate risk of collision. The vehicle’s failure while in traffic nearly resulted in a serious crash. I was driving with passengers at the time. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Kia dealership for repair following each incident. The same defect has now recurred after the first repair was completed, demonstrating that the underlying cause has not been identified or corrected. This defect substantially impairs the safety of the vehicle. The sudden loss of hybrid system function and propulsion while driving at road speed creates a direct and serious risk of accident, injury, or death to the vehicle’s occupants and to other drivers on the road. I am a [XXX] resident and am aware that this defect is not isolated to my vehicle. Numerous other 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid owners have filed similar NHTSA complaints regarding battery failure and sudden loss of acceleration. I urge the NHTSA to open a formal investigation into this defect and to require Kia Motors America to issue a safety recall. I am currently too frightened to operate this vehicle and request urgent attention to this matter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We were driving on highway, approximately 2 miles from home, when we suddenly lost power to the drive train. Eventually it started moving again but after a short distance we again lost power to the drive train. It appeared that whenever it transferred from gasoline to hybrid or electric, we would loose power. We were in traffic and this was not a desirable situation. We applied hazard flashers and were able to limp home. We had no way to lock the hybrid into gasoline mode so every time it switch to electric we stalled out and had to wait several minutes before it would transfer back to gasoline mode. Vehicle is currently at dealership for repair but at this time they have not run any diagnosis on the vehicle.

- #11740932May 29, 2026POWER TRAIN, ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
While driving a brand new Kia Carnival Hybrid (purchased yesterday), I experienced a severe, life-threatening powertrain acceleration lag from a rolling start. My children were in the car and this was very scary. When attempting to accelerate into oncoming traffic on a wet road surface, the vehicle completely hesitated and dropped power for approximately 1.5 to 2 seconds, leaving the vehicle stranded in the path of oncoming traffic. When the power finally engaged, it delivered a violent surge of torque that caused the front tires to break traction and squeal aggressively. This software-driven hesitation and power-distribution lag represents a severe safety hazard.

We have been having persistent safety issues with this vehicle. The issues have ranged from unsecured gas cap to loss of power. We’ve also had severe transmission issues where the car will not shift out of first gear. This happened on the Garden State Parkway and nearly caused an accident as the car wasn’t able to go above 27 mph safely.

For the third time the 2025 KIA Carnival Prestige I own lost power while driving on the interstate! Without warning, the vehicle would no longer respond to the accelerator pedal. No matter what I did I could not get the vehicle to accelerate past 35 mph. The minimum speed limit on the interstate is 45 mph. I had to immediately engage my hazard lights and make my way over to the shoulder of the road from the passing lane. This was a dangerous situation for me and my family and others on the highway. Warning lights came on, check engine light, charging system, and a maintenance service message. Driving in Sport mode, Smart mode, nor Econo mode could change the negative situation. This took place multiple times during the final leg of my last trip to [XXX] , extending for over 120 miles. This is a very unsafe, unreliable vehicle, that should never be driven on public roadways… especially not highways nor interstates. Three negatively, traumatic experiences is ENOUGH!!! I’m DONE!!!! The contact owned a 2026 Kia Carnival. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently hit a deer. The check engine warning light illuminated after the collision. The contact's wife was occupying the front passenger's side seat and the contact's daughter was occupying the rear driver's side seat during the collision. The air bags failed to deploy, and the seat belts failed to retract as needed. There was no reported injury. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The vehicle was then towed to an autobody, where it was totaled by the insurance company after further investigation. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle operated as designed upon reviewing pictures of the damaged vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 2,379.
