Hello - On [XXX], while travelling to visit family for the Christmas Holiday, a warning about a transmission system error came on. We pulled over, check fluids, looked the vehicle over, added approved coolant which appeared a little low. When we started our van, all the lights were off, and we were able to reach our destination without incident. On [XXX], all fluids were checked prior to leaving to return home and we began our journey home. About 20 minutes out from our destination, our transmission warning light came on once again. We were able to make it home. We contacted the dealership and dropped it off immediately on Monday morning only to find out that the transmission needed to be completely replaced. We obtained a second opinion with a local transmission shop who then proceeded to tell us that this was a known issue with this year of Honda Transmissions and that there are some well documented issues with this particular transmission and that this was unfortunately not the first case they had seen. We purchased our 2019 Honda Odyssey from O'Daniel Honda in Omaha, Nebraska through the Costco Auto Program in August 2019. We have regularly maintenance done on this vehicle as recommended at another local dealership closer to our home. At present time, my [XXX] Honda Odyssey with barely 100,000 miles on it now sits in a transmission shop awaiting a full transmission replacement. We bought this vehicle in the security and knowledge that it would be a solid, reliable vehicle for our growing family at the time with the reputation for exceeding 250,000 miles when properly maintained. For this transmission issue to be so well documented and known and for Honda to completely turn a blind eye to this and not stand behind their workmanship is absolutely appalling. This vehicle has the ability to push a button on the keyfob and all the windows and sun roof all open completely but it dose not have the ability to turn this off or close the windows with the key fob. I have gone out several times and found all my windows open and I think a 3 year old had gotten ahold of the key fob and when I tried asking a honda dealer about this feature but i was told there's nothing that could be done about it even though it could open the windows while there's bad weather like rain or snow sleet or hail. And since there's no way to close the windows with the key fob that means you have to go out and get in to the van to close the windows. So a senior citizen could fall and hurt themselve's tryling to close the windows during a bad storm or other bad weather.

I reported issues regarding egress failure and children stuck within the back seat of the van, Electronic Dashboard failing while driving, and no start issues amongst others (11709419). Previously the certified dealer stated the issues just could not be reproduced, despite my videos, however, today they stated a Honda admin level director showed and told them the issues are being reported by others, they dont know how to fix it, and I need to come get my car, continue driving it.

A rattle noise when initially pressing the accelerator pedal. When starting a vehicle, I had to press the start button multiple times. Kept stalling. All the lights on a dashboard started flashing. Saying check engine! We took it to the dealership and they confirmed engine problems. This was their diagnosis: Confirmed concern - found noise coming from engine internally due to CYL NO 2 rod knocking - oil heavily contaminated w/metal particles - recommend engine replacement! Mileage is only 93805.

- #11709372January 7, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
A MIL warning was displayed for Emissions System Problem flaging our vehicle for emissions testing and registration. The vehicle skips and does not accelerate well from 20-30mph making turns into a busy street unsafe. The computer reads a DTC of P219A. All of this matches the description in Honda Service Bulletin 21-010 which says it covers 2019 Odyssey of all trim levels. Local Honda dealer (Auto Nation Honda of Chandler in Chandler, AZ) and Honda America both refuse to extend this warenty to our vehicle for repairs. We took it to a third party Honda mechanic for a second opinion and they recommended we follow up on the Service Bulletin 21-010.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the passenger’s and driver's side sliding doors were frequently not opening or closing as designed or intended. The contact had noticed the failure approximately 2 years prior; however, the failure was intermittent but had since gradually become more frequent. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the pinch sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was no longer using the sliding doors out of concerns that the doors would remain open. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to a dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

- #11709419January 7, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
My 2023 Honda Odyssey Elite has recurring, intermittent safety-related malfunctions across multiple systems. The most serious issues are: (1) door lock/unlock and rear door opening failures preventing emergency egress (children trapped), (2) intermittent “no-start/no-response” where push-button start does nothing (no click/no crank and sometimes no lights/electrical response), and (3) intermittent dashboard/instrument/electrical abnormalities while driving. I also previously experienced dangerous driver-assist behavior including unintended automatic braking and lane/steering behavior in construction zones. Door/egress: Rear doors sometimes will not open from inside or outside even when the vehicle audibly indicates it unlocked. I have video of my children unable to exit the back seat. This is an emergency egress hazard. No-start/no-response: Multiple events where the vehicle appears electrically dead and will not start, then after waiting ~10–30 minutes it starts without a jump. Stranding hazard. Recent examples: 12/31/2025 – doors would not open initially; after entry, no lights/electrical and start button produced zero response; after ~10–20 minutes it started. 01/05/2026 – while driving, dashboard/instrument display went off; buzzing noise believed HVAC related occurred. 01/05/2026 – after parking at Costco, vehicle again would not start (zero response); after ~30 minutes it started. 01/06/2026 – locking/unlocking malfunction again; rear doors would not open despite audible unlock (video). Repair history: Authorized Honda dealer (Bell Road Honda) previously stated “cannot reproduce,” replaced DVD/recall items and performed a “reset,” but did not diagnose root cause; problems returned worse. Honda Customer Service case opened. Injuries: Prior unintended automatic braking event (reported around 08/29/2023) caused injury (my legs hit dash; child had marks from car seat) and near rear-end collisions. Request: Investigate potential safety defects

- #11708998January 6, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES
The impact on the car is we no longer have cruse control (basic feature) and every time we turn on the car we see many warning lights turn on. Some other feature that does not work is lane assist does not work. According to what shows up to on the dashboard there are problems for "road departure mitigation system Problem", "Auto high-beam problem", "Adaptive cruse control problem", "Lane keeping assist problem", "collision mitigation system problem", "break system", "left sliding door problem" A quick search on the web indicate this a common issue with Honda car (including Acura). [XXX] Another problem we're seeing is driver Side sliding door does not close correctly or open correctly. We have since stop using this door since it's very dangerous for our kids since while opening, it would not open all the way and close on the kids. similar issues [XXX] These two things are broken under 65000 miles and less than 6 years owning the car. The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at 25-30 MPH on an icy road surface, the vehicle spun uncontrollably and crashed into a tree on the side of the road. The air bags failed to deploy. There was no warning light illuminated before or after the crash. The police officers arrived at the scene, but it was unknown whether a police report was filed. An ambulance transported the contact to the hospital, where it was confirmed that no serious injury was sustained. The contact sustained body soreness and a bruise on the chest from the seat belt. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and then towed to an auto collision repair shop, where it was being repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V664000(Seat Belts, Air Bags). The manufacturer was contacted, but the contact only interacted with the automated system. The failure mileage was approximately 74,277.

My computer screen that has my radio and backup camera will black out randomly while I’m driving. There are times I can’t use it for a backup camera because it won’t cut on. I’m not able to control my heat and a/c when it goes blank too.

- #11709127January 6, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Upon starting the vehicle, it failed to engage in reverse. Although the backup camera activated, the vehicle remained stationary. After multiple ignition cycles, the vehicle eventually engaged in reverse and then moved forward in Drive. However, shortly after, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power and entered "limp mode," restricting speed to approximately 15–20 mph regardless of throttle input. The engine revved excessively high without corresponding acceleration, and a severe burning/heat smell emanated from the transmission/engine compartment. This failure occurred without any prior warning; notably, no dashboard warning lights or "Check Engine" indicators illuminated to alert the driver of a mechanical or electronic fault. The sudden, un-signaled drop in speed on a public roadway created a significant safety hazard for following traffic and risked a rear-end collision. The vehicle was towed to a certified Honda dealership where the Transmission Control Module (TCM) was diagnosed as failed. The TCM is currently being replaced under the Honda Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) warranty. We do not know what else requires replacement and repairs. The dealership will not cover the replacement of the transmission fluid, or engine fluid, despite the fluid being subjected to extreme heat and potential damage during the failure and subsequent limp mode.

My rear hatch for the trunk was filling up with water every time it rained. Took it in to be looked at and they found the door wasn’t sealed during manufacturing and they sealed it. The water damage was already done and buttons for all things no longer lifts or opens the trunk door. My dash displays “ power tailgate problem” and nothing works to open it. I have to do it manually and I’m afraid it will cause further problems to the door.

Since I own this vehicle, 3 times tailgate failed. I have done repair it twice in Honda dealership at Paramus NJ. Now it happened again after a year of last fix. Instrument cluster = Warning sign appears stays there. Somewhere on back = Constantly sound beeping - When driving Tailgate = Does not open and if open some how, it does not close. Neither automatic nor manually. I have to drive vehicle since I have no choice. I inspected all fuse in front under hood and in rear at cargo area.

The emissions warning comes on and off, the honda dealer said it's a fuel injection system issue. Noted that NHTSA has issued extended warranty for this issue on 2019 Honday Odysseys but my specific VIN is not included. NHTSA needs to extend this issue to additional VINS having this issue as Honda is not covering it.
