Water entered rear panel causing tailgate control module to get wet and stop working. This caused my tailgate to have no power and unable to close due to the latch being stuck in a closed position. Door was open unable to latch closed while I had to drive the vehicle to a mechanic.

The van suddenly died, thankfully on a lower traffic neighborhood road. It would not start and we had it towed to the dealership. Upon troubleshooting, the "low pressure" fuel pump was bad. This resulted in a $1,500 repair for a vehicle only 5 years old. Thankfully this did not happen on the highway, but this is dangerous and should not happen on a car only 5 years old and well maintained.

The rear coil spring (driver side) on my 2020 Honda Odyssey failed and broke while I was driving approximately 45 mph on a city street on XXX in [XXX]. The component that failed is the rear suspension coil spring. I do not have the broken spring in my possession, as it was replaced by the dealer. Due to the coil spring failure, the rear shock absorber on the driver side was also damaged and requires replacement. This sudden failure caused the rear of the vehicle to drop/sag on the driver side, which affected vehicle stability and handling. It put my safety and the safety of other road users at risk due to a loud noise and an abrupt change in ride height. This made the vehicle pull and feel unstable. I was able to maintain control and safely pull over, but the incident was alarming and could have led to loss of control or a crash under different conditions (e.g., higher speed or heavier traffic). A few days prior to the failure (approximately XXX), I noticed a weird/unusual sound from the rear of the vehicle. At the time, I did not associate it with a suspension issue, and there were no warning lamps, messages, or other clear symptoms. The problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle and component were inspected by a Honda dealer on XXX. The dealer confirmed that the driver-side rear coil spring had broken near the bottom and replaced it. They also noted that the rear shock absorber was damaged as a result and needs to be replaced. No other inspections (manufacturer representative, police, or insurance) have occurred at this time. This appears to be a sudden mechanical failure of the rear coil spring with no apparent external cause (e.g., no prior impact, accident, or road debris). Regarding: Reimbursement Request for Warranty Extension Service (Service Bulletin 25-061) I am formally requesting a reimbursement of $1,859.90 for repairs performed on my 2016 Honda Odyssey (VIN: [XXX]). On XXX, I visited Phil Hughes Honda in Athens, GA, due to engine misfire symptoms, specifically P0301. The dealership performed repairs in accordance with Service Bulletin 25-061, which included cylinder head disassembly, replacement of piston rings (cylinders 1-3), replacement of spark plugs, and other related services. I paid a total of $1,859.90 for these repairs. Given that this service addresses a known defect covered under the manufacturer's extended warranty program for this vehicle, I believe I am entitled to a full reimbursement of these costs. I have attached all relevant service invoices and the final payment receipt as documentation of the services performed and the expenses incurred. I request a review of this claim and the processing of my refund at your earliest convenience. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that during a State Inspection, the contact was informed that the rear coil springs and shocks were fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the rear coil springs and shocks needed to be replaced; however, the parts were on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but declined to provide further assistance because the vehicle had not received the oil change services at the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 36,800.

While driving in normal traffic, when I come to a complete stop and keep my foot on the brake, the Auto Idle Stop system activates as designed. However, when I release the brake to continue driving, the engine intermittently fails to restart properly. Instead, it repeatedly attempts to restart, cycling on and off several times before shutting down completely. When this occurs, the vehicle becomes disabled in traffic and does not respond as expected. It can take multiple attempts and a significant amount of time before the engine finally restarts, leaving me stranded in intersections or in moving traffic. This creates a serious safety hazard because surrounding vehicles continue moving while my vehicle is unable to move. This problem has occurred multiple times under normal driving conditions and is not an isolated incident. During one occurrence, the vehicle failed to restart after the Auto Idle Stop system activated, leaving my vehicle disabled in traffic. As a result of this incident, my vehicle was involved in a collision that **damaged the front and back bumper**. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, but the incident clearly demonstrates the significant safety risk associated with this defect. The vehicle is currently at an authorized Honda dealership for diagnosis and repair. I am submitting this complaint because a vehicle that unexpectedly shuts down and fails to restart after Auto Idle Stop activation presents a serious safety hazard. I am concerned that this defect could lead to additional crashes, property damage, or serious injuries if it is not corrected.

- #11746676June 26, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
My 2025 Honda Odyssey has experienced an intermittent failure of the Auto Idle Stop system on four separate occasions. While stopped at a traffic light, the Auto Idle Stop system shuts the engine off as designed. When I release the brake pedal to proceed after the light turns green, the engine fails to restart automatically. Instead, the dashboard lights illuminate and flash, and the vehicle displays the message "Press brake and START button." Pressing the START button once does not restart the engine. I have had to repeatedly press or hold the START button before the vehicle eventually restarts. During these events, the vehicle is completely disabled in active traffic and cannot be driven until it restarts. This has occurred four times, including while stopped at busy multi-lane intersections. The vehicle remained stationary after the traffic signal turned green while surrounding traffic expected it to move. This created a safety hazard because the vehicle unexpectedly became immobilized in an active traffic lane. I took the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership. The service advisor acknowledged they are aware of similar complaints from other 2025 Odyssey owners but indicated Honda has not provided a definitive repair or service procedure. A diagnostic appointment has been scheduled. I have also found numerous reports from other 2025 Honda Odyssey owners describing the same Auto Idle Stop failure. In many of those cases, dealerships ultimately replaced the starter under warranty after diagnosis. The consistency of these reports suggests this may not be an isolated incident. I am submitting this complaint because this is a safety issue. A vehicle that unexpectedly cannot move when traffic begins to flow creates a risk of a rear-end or other collision.

The vehicle stalled at a traffic light and would not go into park or shut down to restart for about a minute. There were no warning signs or warning lights. It is a safety issue due to this potentially happening in the middle of an intersection while waiting to turn. The vehicle is being taken to the dealership on Wednesday, July 1st.

- #11746477June 25, 2026SEAT BELTS
On 4/30/26 my 10 year old son was sitting in the middle row behind the driver buckled in his seatbelt. The middle row, middle seatbelt (that comes down from ceiling) got wrapped around his neck and kept tightening. He yelled for help. I was driving and saw in my rearview mirror that my son was being pulled up by his neck from the seatbelt in the ceiling. I pulled into a shopping center immediately to try to help him. I could not reach down in between the seats to unhook it because the more I tried to release him, the more it would tighten. That seatbelt requires a tool to be pressed into the lock to release it and the more I tried to get to the seatbelt to unfasten it the more it was tightening and pulling my son up (he was literally starting to hang from the ceiling). I unhooked his seatbelt so he could push himself up to try to release some of the tension around his neck. I wound up running into a Michaels store screaming that I needed scissors because my son was hanging from a seatbelt. She gave me scissors and I went back out and cut the seatbelt to release my son from the seatbelt noose around his neck. He had red marks around his neck afterwards. I still have the cut seatbelt and the other half retracted into the ceiling. Research has confirmed that there have been other reports of issues with children having to be cut out of seatbelts due to the Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) in Honda Odysseys, model years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and my model 2018. I called Honda corporate on 6/8/26 and filed a complaint. I was told I would receive an email response. I have not received an email or any response. So I called Honda corporate again on 6/25/26 and was told someone would reach out to me, but they could not tell me anything over the phone at that time. I made an appointment at my Honda dealership to have the seatbelt replaced, but have been waiting on a response from Honda corporate before doing any repairs.

The auto start and stop feature failed on numerous occasions. So when I am in the middle of a road stopped waiting for a car to turn my van will autostop but then it fails to restart. This has caused me on numerous occasion to be stalled out in the middle of busy roads and intersections. I almost was involved in an accident that was a near miss luckily. I have young children and I fear for their safety in our van as this issue can cause a serious accident if not corrected.

When I came to a stop at a traffic light, the car shut off as expected. However, when I took my foot off the brake the car did not start up. I had to manually start the car. This happened 3 times earlier so I had the car in to Curtis Ryan Honda for service one week prior and they claimed the battery was defective and put a new one in. However, even after the new battery, it did it again yesterday. Each time it happens, the cars behind me get anxious and start beeping. I am afraid that I may be rear ended at some point if this keeps happening. I dropped the car off at the dealer again for them to take another look at it.

While traveling from Florida to our home in Pennsylvania in December 2022, we were on [XXX] and after going over a pothole, the side curtain airbag, and the driver seat side airbag inadvertently deployed. It was very traumatic and we are fortunate that we were able to pull off the side of the highway without getting hit by vehicles., The repair, which totaled over$16,000 was done by GERBER COLLISION AND GLASS Easton, PA. we personally are trying to recoup our out of pocket expenses of $781.08 from HONDA. And now, a month ago, May 2026,(almost 4 years after our incident) we received a SAFETY RECALL notification from explaining the exact issue we had.NHTSA Recall number26V227. we can provide photos and documentation, invoices, out of pocket expenses, etc if necessary but we have no idea how to include them on this form.
