The drivers side grab handle (a pillar trim piece) is cracked through completely at upper bolt mount location, causing the grab handle to be weakened and unable to safely support while using and could pull away from vehicle while in use potentially causing the driver to fall and become injured. I replaced the original with a genuine OEM replacement from the dealership and it cracked in the exact same place. I posted an inquiry to a Facebook group of fellow GMC owners and there were numerous reports of this having to them and having the dealership replace under warranty, only to have the issue occur again. This structural failure seems to happen with or without use of the grab bar.

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and serious concern regarding a critical safety failure I experienced with my 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Unlimited (VIN: [XXX] ), which I purchased brand new in April 2025 from Cavender GMC, San Antonio, TX. On Friday, [XXX], with fewer than 9,000 miles on the vehicle, I was driving on the highway at about 65 MPH, with my minor son in the vehicle when the dash suddenly displayed a Traction Control (TRC) Fault message, followed immediately by "Acceleration is Limited." The truck experienced a severe and unexpected power loss, severely restricting my ability to accelerate or maintain safe highway speeds. I was forced to pull off the road abruptly to avoid a potentially dangerous situation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am receiving a "Shift to Park" warning intermittently when parking my truck. The truck is in park, but the transmission does not recognize this and flashes the warning on the dash and chimes. While this is happening, I cannot lock the vehicle, and the battery is being drained. I have read that this is a known issue with other GMC models as well. I just was given a $1074 bill to replace the transmission control with park sensor.

AS PART OF THE ENGINE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH MY VEHICLE I HAD A REPAIR SCHEDULED AT PARKS GMC IN GREENVILLE, SC LOCATED ON LAURENS RD. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD THE PARTS AND PROTOCOL BUT COULD NOT REPAIR MY RECALL BECAUSE GENERAL MOTORS WAS AT RANDOM SELECTING VIN NUMBERS TO DETERMINE WHICH ONES THEY WOULD REPAIR. THE SERVICE ADVISOR (KEVIN BLACKSTON) TOLD ME THAT GM WAS FIXING NEW VEHICLES FIRST AND THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHEN MINE WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY CAN SCHEDULE ME IN TO PERFORM THE REPAIR AND THEN REFUSE TO MAKE THE REPAIR STATING THAT THERE IS NO SOLUTIONS WHEN IN FACT THE SERVICE ADVISOR EXPLAINED IN DETAIL WHAT WOULD BE PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE. HOW CAN GM ALLOW PEOPLE TO BE ON THE ROAD IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE YET HAVE THE PARTS ON THE SHELF TO MAKE NEEDED REPAIRS. THE OTHER ISSUE I HAVE IS THAT THIS DEALERSHIP IS USING THIS RECALL TO [XXX] CLIENTS. A FEW MONTHS BACK WHEN I WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE THEY SENT ME A TEXT MAKING AN OFFER IF I WAS INTERESTED IN SELLING THE VEHICLE. WHEN I WENT IN TO GET THE VEHICLE APPRAISED THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDNT OFFER ME THE AMOUNT IN THE TEXT MESSAGE BECAUSE THE RECALL HADNT BEEN REPAIRED AND AT BEST COULD GIVE ME ABOUT 9,000 LESS. WHICH SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE GETTING OVER ON PEOPLE AND MAKING A LOT MORE MONEY OFF OF GMs MISTAKE. I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO SELL MY VEHICLE AND GET ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR A FEW MONTHS AND I AM STUCK WITH THIS POTENTIALLY UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE VEHICLE WHILE THE DEALERSHIP HOLDS ON TO PARTS FOR OTHER VEHICLES. I NEED ASSISTANCE IN PUSING PARKS GMC TO MAKE THE NEEDED REPAIRS. IF THE ENGINE WERE TO BREAKDOWN BEFORE THE REPAIR IS COMPLETED I COULD BE OUT OF A VEHICLE FOR MONTHS. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO SCHOOL AND WORK THAT HAS TO CONTINUE WITH OUR WITHOUT A GOOD VEHICLE. ANY ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! - #11678114August 3, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, STEERING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
the steering assist fails, Power and steering is reduced at driving speeds. Steering wheel locks and vehicle looses voltage and stalls while driving at low speeds and have been close to collision. Vehicle was inspected by Group One Gmc in el Paso Texas. They did not fix recall because it "did not pertain to my vin" . There is a recall for the steering assist on all gmc 2015 1500, but not for my gmc 2015 1500 for some reason. Whether it was manufactured in the us or the moon its still a gmc 2015 1500 with faulty steering assist system from the manufacturer with an open recall. Thanks for your help

The passenger side outside rear view mirror does not provide for a clear view on the passenger side of the vehicle. The adjustments on the mirror cannot be set to reduce or eliminate a blind spot on the vehicle. The mirror is not like a normal mirror from other vehicles. I have almost hit several vehicles due to the lack of clear view with the mirror. To give an idea of the blind spot, a vehicle can be seen in the rear view mirror but not seen in the side view mirror or it gives a false distance of where the vehicle is on side mirror. There is no verbiage on the side view mirror of objects appear closer like other mirrors do.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Coolant Control Valve has stopped working. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving the truck can overheat very quickly which can lead to dangerous temperatures as well as cause me to make an emergency stop on the highway to allow the truck to cool down. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, I have discussed with a dealership in person and independent mechanic who have confirmed the issue and confirmed it is a very common issue. So common that the only replacement part for the problem is backordered. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, they confirmed the issue without inspecting the vehicle because of how common it happens. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warnings before the issue. The issue happened and then the check engine light turned on as well as a "reduced engine power" message.

The contact owns 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while reversing and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle stalled. The contact shifted to park(P), turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the starter was replaced, and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE25001 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 84,000.

After placing the vehicle in park and try to turn it off, I receive a message saying “Shift to Park”. The engine is off and in park, but the vehicle doesn’t recognize it as being in park so all of the electrical stays on. I started complaining about this to the dealerships before my warranty was up but they kept giving me the run around avoiding the fix and now that the warranty is expired they want to help me for a ridiculous fee. This issue happens randomly at least one day a week.

Power Steering failure. Loss of power steering while driving the vehicle made any turns nearly impossible. Dealership identified root cause and a problem with a grounding strap. They reported that in addition to our vehicle, another GMC Sierra 1500 had come in the same day with the same problem. Loss of power steering while driving can lead to collision. This should be a safety recall.

I'm reaching out for urgent help regarding my 2024 GMC AT4, which is currently at Newby Buick GMC in St. George, Utah, with a transmission failure that occurred on Saturday, [XXX]. While returning from a horse show in Ogden, Utah, the truck began to experience severe transmission issues near Santaquin, Utah, around 5:30 p.m. Just before reaching Santaquin, the truck jerked violently three times-so hard that I immediately checked the camera system inside my horse trailer to make sure one of my horses hadn't gone down. That's how intense the jolt was. I pulled into a gas station in Santaquin and called the dealership right away. At the time, I had three horses on board, it was nearly 100 degrees, and I was hauling a large living quarters horse trailer. The service manager was initially unavailable, but he returned my call shortly and advised me to continue driving to St. George at a steady speed if the truck could manage it. He also warned that it might go into limp mode, and in that case, I'd just be traveling very slowly. My husband was on standby in case he needed to meet me halfway, but I was hopeful that I could make it to at least Hurricane, Utah. I was able to access my GMC app on my phone at the time and confirmed to him that the transmission check light was on, and I was receiving a warning notification on the app indicating there was a transmission issue. I was able to limp the truck as far as Hurricane, where my husband met me. We unloaded the horses into stalls and took both trucks into St. George that night to drop the AT4 off at the dealership. On Monday morning, I contacted the dealership for an update and was informed that the issue was likely related to the transmission valve, and that the required part is on national back order-with an estimated delay of two months or more, but no confirmed ETA. This has been my first GMC diesel. I've always driven Dodge trucks. Over a year ago, I saw the new color GMC released and kept telling my husband how amazi INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM O
