Technician will need to complete the current Service Information diagnostic for any current Diagnostic Trouble Codes or symptoms found. If an Exhaust Fluid Quality Poor message is displayed with a specific Diagnostic Trouble Code, use that specific Service Information diagnostic, and repair the vehicle as necessary. If the dealer has found an Exhaust Fluid Quality Poor message with no Diagnostic Trouble Code, diagnose the condition using the current Service Information diagnosis for Diagnostic Trouble Code P20EE / P207F (P2BAD for 2012 and newer model years). After making repairs use the Service Information Document titled "Reductant Fluid Quality Test (With or without Diagnostic Trouble Codess)" to evaluate and clear the Exhaust Fluid Quality Poor Driver Information Center message.

If the diagnosis does not lead to a resolution check for chafing of the engine wiring harness that is routed near the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve. Technician should repair any damaged wiring and fully seat the wire retaining harness. Also the technician should bend the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve gasket over to prevent a re-occurrence.

Summary14166A - CUSTOMER SATISFACTION (REVISED NET ITEM ALLOWANCE). CERTAIN VEHICLES HAVE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG (SIAB) WIRING HARNESS CONNECTORS THAT MAY HAVE HIGH RESISTANCE. THE VEHICLE SENSING AND DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) INTERPRETS THE HIGH RESISTANCE AS A FAULT. A FAULT WILL ILLUMINATE THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT AND TURN ON A SERVICE AIR BAG DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) MESSAGE. THE FAULT AND THE WARNING INDICATORS MAY BE INTERMITTENT. DEPENDING ON THE LEVEL OF RESISTANCE, THE SIABS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH. REMOVE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIAB WIRING HARNESS CONNECTORS AND INSTALL ELECTRICAL JUMPER WIRES IN THEIR PLACE.

Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code C1114. Technician will inspect and clean the ground wire (normally white wire) connection on the trailer side of the 7-pin connector. Inspect that the wires inside the trailer side connector are clean and securely fastened. If the vehicle's 7-way connector socket terminals are deformed or have excessive wear, it will be necessary to replace the truck side connector from General Motors Customer Care and Aftersales along with the trailer's 7-way connector plug.

SummaryThis Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a hard start or a no start. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code DTCs P0087, P0088, P0191 or P128E. Technician will need to follow all Service Information diagnose for the Diagnostic Trouble Code. If the current Service Information diagnostic has led to Fuel Injection Pump replacement, Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 must be inspected for magnetic metal debris. If there is a questionable amount of magnetic debris found on Pressure Regulator 1 remove the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor and/or Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 to inspect for magnetic metal debris. If technician will need to replace all of the parts listed under the latest version of PIP4949 found in the Service Forms section of Global Connect if debris is found. Clean and flush all fuel chassis lines, filter pipes, and other engine mounted fuel system pipes not replaced. Also the fuel filter housing must be cleaned with a new fuel filter installed. Then the fuel tank and fuel sender must be cleaned and flushed.
