Driving down the highway, I pushed on the gas pedal and my engine began to rev. I looked at the dashboard, and the dashboard showed I was in park. I looked down at my shifter, and the shifter was positioned in drive but the light on the column was showing I was in park. I was able to get pulled over and stopped. I moved the shifter into park and back into drive. Transmission remainder in park. I turned the car off and repeated the steps. The transmission remained in park. After the 4th attempt, I left the car off for more than a minute. The transmission finally shifted into drive. Less than an hour later, I was turning through a busy intersection, and the engine began to rev again. This time, the transmission did not show it was I park and the gear shifter was in the drive position. Due to not having enough moment to continue further, I wound up stopping in front of a car that was attempting to make a right hand turn onto the highway. This time, after putting the car in park and moving the shifter back into drive, the car engaged and I was able to move out of the way of the car that was trying to turn onto the highway. My safety was put at risk as momentum was the only thing that got me through the remaining part of the busy intersection. Going down the road or making a turn in a busy intersection and potentially being stuck in the middle of either is asking for a wreck to happen. At this point, I had only had the car for a week in which I bought it from the dealership and it still had under 100,000 miles. There were no warning messages/lights and no other indication of something was wrong. Both incidents occurred on March 8, 2024 between 3 and 4pm eastern time. The dealership stated the vehicle had been inspected prior to purchase and after stopping by the dodge dealership (owned by same person, different dealership), the service department stated spark plugs had been replaced as well as a cv valve back on 2/24.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she smelled a gasoline odor on the interior of the vehicle, after which several unknown warning lights on the instrument panel started flickering. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway to shut off the vehicle, after which the vehicle failed to restart. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with the alternator and the ignition switch. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic, who then diagnosed a failure with the transmission control module. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V542000 (Power Train) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 180,000.

While driving on the interstate, the vehicle shifted itself into neutral and would not shift back into drive. At highway speeds, I had to put the hazards on and coast to an exit safely.

When a passenger is in the car, the air bag light and an audible alert constantly go off while driving. Took it to the dealership and they say this: "it's a seat belt buckle sensor circuit causing orc. light wires are connected and not damaged" To me, the words "not damaged" indicate that this is not our fault. Of course we're not going to let our daughter continue to drive the car like this, but I feel like $522.79, which is what they're charging, in addition to a $99 misc. fee that I don't know what is, is WAY too much for something that I thought would be considered a safety issue.

1)Headlights. I have had issues with my headlights since day one. They are so dull I upgraded the bulbs with the brightest LED bulbs available which did not help my legs did not get any brighter, I've had my headlights adjusted four different times which still did not help. I drive with my brights on anytime I have to drive at night and I still can hardly see anything on the road. It is not my eyes that are bad because multiple people have said the same thing and no one can tell me why my lights are so dime. This year alone I have replaced both my headlamp bulbs and turn signal bulb (left side) a total of 4 times because they have busted. I have ran into 3 ditches because I can't see anything. NOW, I do not drive at night and have lost work as a result. 2)Wheels. I have lost 4 front wheel tires while driving down the interstate in the last 2 years. I've purchased 8 tires during this time &have replaced all the broken lugnuts ea time. The lugnuts all snapped completely in 1/2 when my tires came off. I've been towed ea time and have endangered the life of others as well as my own & now I do not drive long distances & try to avoid going over 45 miles/hrs in fear of this happening again. As a result of loosing my tires while driving on interstate, I've replace right hub assembly 2 times &eft one time in last 2 years. On the electrical, tire, wheels, head lights & bulb replacements and repairs I have spent thousands .I was excited about getting my 1st dodge, but the dangerous, expensive, and horrible experience from my dodge has not only limited my driving to daytime hours on roads no more than 45 mph,, it's put fear in me to drive &purchase another! Every person that has worked on my car, been a passanger & that knows about my car us in utter disbelief as I am. I do not want to sell this vehicle to anyone else, in fear the purchaser could get hurt or hurt someone else! Every blog I've read and reviews for dodge dart have same issues & no re- placement parts available.

My car kept dying on me randomly flashing a light on my dash of a lightning bolt in between two curved lines. I researched it and it was saying that my throttle positioner was going out.

The ECM/Throttle Positioning System has been faulting for a while and only getting worse causing the car to just randomly steal with no power. Usually can shut off and restart car and itll be good for 1 min - 30 min you never really know. I got stranded in the middle of the highway and couldn't start my car after it died while driving down the road.

The transmission is completely faulty. The transmission modular that was recalled I replaced that already. The transmission needs to be replaced completely. I've found articles that the Dodge Chrysler had recalled transmissions for the same year make and model. I want to have it replaced with a new one. Contact me at [XXX] [XXX] or [XXX] . thanks. - #11565492January 14, 2024AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Airbags. The light did not come on upon start up of vehicle. Electrical. My radio, display on dashboard and Bluetooth would blink off and on. I think that my sons safety and mine were at risk because of the malfunctioning of the airbags if an accident would have occurred they wouldn't deploy. I took it into the dealer, but they didn't seem concerned. They fixed some things and it costs around $3500. The only thing I noticed was the flashing off and on of the dashboard display which shows your speed and mileage on the vehicle and my airbag light did not display at all. My VIN number was covered up with a sticker on the dashboard of my vehicle as well and the one on the drivers door was missing. My car was stolen from Ohio and I found it in Oregon at Capitol Toyota. I purchased a 2014 Dodge Dart from this business on 08/10/2019. I drove the vehicle for only 1.5 years and then garaged it to give to my daughter later. I put only 20,000 miles on the vehicle. There were several issues during the short time that I had the vehicle. The tire pressure warning went on, and the clutch would stick to the floor. I had the pressure warning 'fixed' at Chrysler World only to have the same malfunction within a week. The clutch issue was due to a recall that I didn't qualify for as I did not purchase the vehicle new from the original dealership. I gave the vehicle to my daughter on 12/18/2023 and the clutch and transmission went out causing her to stop in the middle of the highway. I paid $105 to have the vehicle towed to my local Dodge dealership. The local dealership informed me that the clutch and transmission would need to be replaced for the amount of about $6100. Along with some other recall work on the computer and cat converter which would be free to me. I then emailed and called Chrysler World on 01/02/2024 to see if they would assist with the repair as I felt that this particular vehicle was totally flawed. The salesman advised he would call back on 01/03/24. That would work as I advised my local dealer that I would let them know within a day if they should continue and perform the maintenance. I did not hear from Chrysler World so I did ok the work which is underway. I did receive a call from Chrysler World on 01/08/24. Long after I would have had to let the local dealership know about continuing with the repairs. Chrysler World Indicated that they could not help in any way as it had been too long since the purchase.

- #11562993January 2, 2024POWER TRAIN, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I was driving and my car shifted to neutral by itself. I was crossing a 2 lane highway when it happened but thankfully I was able to shift back to drive. I was also using cruise control and i tapped my brakes which would usually cancel cruise control, but my car sped up instead of slowing down. My dealership said my car doesn't qualify for the recall even though it is exactly what is happening to my car. I have 2 young children and this is our only transportation. I need this car to be safe for us though. The dealership said they couldn't look at it for over a week.

- #11553891November 6, 2023STEERING, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, ENGINE
The Dodge dart has a malfunction that might have contributed in many crashes this car has been involved in. The issue is that some darts will experience a malfunction where the lights inside the car will randomly flicker (should they be on), digital dash will also flicker and navigation screen will either restart or just shut off. The biggest problem in all of this is that the power steering will always temporarily shut off and make it extremely hard to steer the car for a few seconds and this can happen during turns. The reset can also happen many times in a row forcing the power steering to be shut down for multiple seconds longer than the avg like 5-8 seconds. within that reset all lights on the dash will flick on and off and if you have cruise control on, it will shut off permanently until you restart the car. Sometimes the reset doesn't successfully turn on and the navigation will remain off indefinitely and will blast hot air into your cabin forcing you to park and restart your car. If your dart slows down to a stop the power steering will shut off forcing you to attempt to park your car with an extremely stiff power steering or you can restart your car for a chance to regain some assitance from the PS. Sometimes putting the car in reverse shuts off the car. The issue that the car displays when these errors occur is "Service Power Steering" or "Service Electronic Braking System" weird request when the braking is just fine. Dealership cannot diagnose this issue because the codes seemingly clear themselves as if nothing has ever happened. I have found a few others with similar issues to mine on Reddit as well as The Dodge dart forums. This issue also happens at random. There isn't a trigger or requirement for it to happen. You can be sitting at a parking lot with the car on in park and it might just reset itself for no reason and give you a stiff wheel.

Ongoing issue of the key fob getting stuck in the ignition. You have to take the cover of the gear shift off and push the relay to release the lock in the ignition. This has been on multiple dodge darts that I have found. The key gets stuck and cannot get it out
