General Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2025â2026 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban 1500, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles with 24-inch wheels. Incorrect bolts may have been installed on the left and right front wheel hubs, which can result in the bolts loosening or deforming over time.
Component: Steering & Suspension / Upper Ball Joint--Catastrophic Structural Failure: On [XXX], at highway speeds on [XXX], the left front wheel completely separated from the upper control arm due to an instantaneous upper ball joint failure. The left tire turned sideways, locking the steering system. The vehicle was equipped with factory stock suspension and GM 24-inch rims-Pre-Accident Diagnostic Negligence: The vehicle exhibited a severe front-end "thumping noise" within the warranty window. It was brought to Lucas Chevrolet on [XXX] (31,901 miles) and Burlington Chevrolet on [XXX] (with a "Service 4WD" light active). Both certified facilities failed to perform physical tear-downs or torque checks, releasing a hazardous vehicle. Burlington Chevrolet is currently ignoring all voicemails requesting my service records-Dangerous 20-Hour Roadside Abandonment: Chevrolet Roadside Assistance left the driver stranded on a live highway shoulder for 2.5 hours in rush-hour traffic and darkness. Due to unsafe conditions, the driver was forced to leave the vehicle for an unassisted tow. Because roadside repeatedly sent wrong equipment for a collapsed suspension, the vehicle sat overnight and was not delivered to the dealer until 21 hours later-Evidence Preservation Hazard: Dealership Director Bob called the consumer to explicitly direct them not to hire legal counsel. Following this call, the dealership unilaterally changed writing from a "Customer Satisfaction Guarantee" to a "Goodwill Repair" and Service Manager Denny DiRenzo levied a $150 core charge on the steering rack. This fee acts as a financial barrier to force the surrender and destruction of the physical evidence. GM is also refusing to inspect the remaining three ball joints. Investigate Manufacturing Defect: Cross-reference this structural collapse with active wheel hub bolt recalls, Wave the $150 core, investigate parts, buy back, create recall for hub bolts and upper control ar INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 5
Component Affected: Suspension / Steering / Wheels / Front Hub Assembly Description of the Safety Defect & Incident: Proactively brought the vehicle to two separate authorized Chevrolet dealerships due to a severe thumping noise when turning the steering wheel. I explicitly stated to service staff that the vehicle felt unstable and unsafe to drive. Both dealerships performed inspections, stated they found no issues, and released the vehicle back to me. Shortly thereafter, while driving at full highway speed during rush hour, the front-end suspension/hub assembly suffered a catastrophic structural failure. The front driver-side wheel completely turned sideways and broke off, causing the vehicle to drop directly onto the pavement and skid violently across the highway. I narrowly avoided a multi-vehicle collision and managed to slide the vehicle to the shoulder. The wheel hub assembly completely separated from the steering/suspension structure, rendering the vehicle totally disabled. This failure matches the catastrophic hazards associated with recent GM front-wheel hub bolt relaxation and separation safety notices.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, a banging noise was heard coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle decelerated. In addition, several warning lights, including the check engine light and the anti-lock braking system light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off the vehicle, and had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the engine and radiator failed and needed to be replaced. The engine and radiator were replaced. Approximately 5 months and 6,000 miles later, the failure recurred and the engine began to run rough. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine failed again. The engine was in the process of being replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
