My 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST with the 6.2L engine experienced an engine seizure. The engine was replaced by a Chevrolet dealership under a GM safety recall. Immediately after picking up the vehicle following the recall engine replacement, the truck stalled while still in the Chevrolet dealership parking lot. There was no warning before this first stall. We continued our trip because we did not realize at the time that the stall could indicate a problem following the engine replacement. During the drive from [XXX] to [XXX], the problem continued. In [XXX], the check engine light illuminated and the truck began malfunctioning. The vehicle subsequently stalled again. The problem continued after returning to [XXX]. A Chevrolet dealership in [XXX] inspected the vehicle and reproduced/confirmed a problem involving the camshaft position sensor wiring/connector. The dealership demonstrated the problem by manipulating the connector/wiring and recorded a video of the diagnostic procedure. The vehicle is currently at the Chevrolet dealership and is available for inspection. The affected component should also be available for inspection because it has not yet been repaired. The [XXX] dealership has characterized the wiring/connector condition as normal wear. However, the first stall occurred immediately after the GM recall engine replacement, while the vehicle was still on the repairing Chevrolet dealership's property. Unexpected engine stalling creates a serious safety risk because the vehicle can lose propulsion without warning while driving, including at highway speeds or in traffic. I am concerned that the camshaft position circuit/wiring/connector problem may be associated with the recall engine replacement procedure or replacement engine. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether other vehicles receiving this GM 6.2L engine recall remedy have experienced similar camshaft position circuit failures or unexpected stalling after engine repair. Came off the parkway and came to a stop at a stop sign. As I attempted to accelerate forward the truck shuttered violently, did not move forward and then slammed into gear. As it slammed into gear it jerked forward. The force of the jerk pushed me back in the seat and caused the steering wheel to turn. About 100 yards later I came to a stop in traffic. As I attempted to accelerate the same incident occurred again. After the second incident anytime I same to a stop and attempted to accelerate forward the shutter was no longer present but the truck would not move at first and would then slam into gear and jerk violently. This would occur in drive and reverse. I brought it to the dealership and they diagnosed that it needed a transmission. The service writer even told me it bucked so hard while the technician was moving it that it almost put him through the steering wheel. The truck is currently having the transmission replaced at Greenbrook GMC. Estimated repair cost is $9400 plus taxes and fees. Can provide invoice and bill once repair is completed.

Following recall review by the dealership, experienced sudden, catastrophic engine failure nearly stranding me on the road with my son. Awaiting final diagnostics from the dealership, but every indication, errors, and symptoms align with all the other complaints that I have reviewed on line for the make/model of my vehicle. Recall assessment and corrective actions ineffective resolving engine failure.

I experienced a crankshaft bearing failure while driving my 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Silverado on the highway / freeway. Thankfully I was able to exit highway / freeway to avoid a car collision due to loss of power. My truck was towed to a certified Chevy dealer. This is a known issue for 2019-2026 6.2L V8 L87 engines. The truck was previously inspected by a certified Chevy dealer for prior L87 engine recall. It passed and they changed the oil type to 0w-40. Prior to this event, my truck was at the dealer for a low oil pressure issue / oil pan replacement. I picked it up from the dealer after the vehicle was repaired and drove it for about three days and then experienced the crankshaft bearing failure. No warning lamps illuminated prior to failure. My truck is currently at the dealer waiting for a new engine.

The Engine Cooler has a know defect that GM has put out service bulletins for. The engine cooler is cracking, mixing oil and antifreeze that is creating a sludge that runs thru the entire system. GM wants techs to attempt to clean/flush the engine before they approve a new engine to be ordered under warranty. GM is aware of the problem and there should be a recall out on the problem according to the service manager I spoke with at the dealership my truck is at currently. I was told the expected time frame is up to 3 months for the work to be completed, with no loaner available that is equivalent to the vehicle that went to the shop. The recall is necessary because if the engine has a major failure while driving it could cause an accident, if the vehicle is hauling a heavy trailer that could be detrimental because the truck can haul up to 40,000 GCWR.

- #11762821September 8, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, STEERING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I am reporting a serious and extremely concerning brake failure involving my 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Diesel. Traffic ahead of me began to slow down. I saw the traffic slowing and immediately began applying the brakes to slow my vehicle. Although I was pressing the brake pedal, the truck was not slowing or stopping as it should have. When I realized the vehicle was not going to stop, I pressed the brake pedal as hard as I possibly could. The brake pedal went completely down to the floor, yet the vehicle still failed to stop, resulting in a collision. I want to be very clear: I saw traffic slowing, I applied the brakes, and when the truck failed to respond properly, I applied maximum pressure to the brake pedal. Despite this, the brake pedal traveled all the way to the floor and the vehicle did not stop. Because of the seriousness of the incident and our concern regarding the braking system, we had the vehicle towed from the scene rather than driving it. This was an extremely dangerous incident involving a 2026 vehicle. A braking system that fails to respond when the driver is actively attempting to stop presents a serious safety concern and could result in severe injury or death. I am requesting that this incident be formally documented and thoroughly investigated as a potential vehicle safety defect. I also request that all relevant vehicle data, diagnostic information, braking-system data, and electronic crash data related to this incident be preserved and reviewed.

While driving my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the braking system suddenly malfunctioned without any prior warning. When I released the accelerator, the vehicle began slowing as though the brakes were being applied even though I was not pressing the brake pedal. When I attempted to brake normally, the vehicle did not stop as expected and braking ability was significantly reduced. The red BRAKE warning, ABS warning, traction/ESC warnings, and check engine light illuminated. The dashboard displayed “Brake System Failure – 43 MPH Top Speed,” “Service ESC,” and “Service Trailer Brake System.” Because of the reduced braking ability, I stopped the vehicle and had it transported by flatbed tow to a Chevrolet dealership rather than continue driving it. The Chevrolet dealer inspected the vehicle and documented diagnostic trouble codes P25A2 and C053D. The dealer stated that the Brake System Control Module requested the warning light and that updated software was available to address these codes. The dealer reprogrammed the Brake System Control Module according to a GM technical service bulletin. No mechanical brake components were replaced. I was charged $362.95 for the diagnosis/reprogramming. I am reporting this because the failure occurred suddenly while the vehicle was being driven and resulted in significantly reduced braking ability, creating a serious risk of a crash. The vehicle had approximately 74,221 miles at the time of the incident. The dealer repair invoice documenting the codes and repair is available upon request.

Body to frame ground cables corroded in half two different times within about 6 months. First time engine wouldn’t start had to have it towed to dealer for repair, over 30 codes were shown when this happened. Next incident some of my lights were working intermittently and my steering was rendered inoperable for 20 to 30 seconds at a time making it impossible to steer the vehicle, several codes were found when this happened, I drove the truck to a Chevrolet dealer for repair. Both repairs were deemed to be corroded ground cables. Chevrolet has a “customer appreciation program” covering 2019-2024 Silverado trucks but for some reason my VIN number doesn’t land in the program even though it has the same issues that are covered for the other silverados.

The engine in my 2023 Silverado ZR2 (6.2L L87 V8) failed. It is available for inspection at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet ([XXX]). On XXX at about 67,000 miles, and the days leading up to it, the truck repeatedly struggled to start due to metal on metal contact, almost leaving me and my family stranded multiple times. Driving the vehicle produced a loud rattling noise at 2200 to 2700 rpm, and felt unsafe to drive. Especially with my family. The problem was reproduced and confirmed to be an engine failure by the Rick Hendrick Chevy dealership a week after being dropped off with an appointment. I have been told the engine needs to be replaced under the special coverage program (N252494003). The L87 recall inspection and oil change was completed on XXX also by Rick Hendrick Chevy. There were not warning lights or other symptoms leading up to this engine failure. The symptoms of struggling to start and the ticking noise as 2200 to 2700 RPM started that weekend before I brought to dealership. They got progressively worse. Dealership has said I will receive a new engine under warranty but no timeline for completion. Additionally I have not been furnished with a service loaner or option for one. Leaving me with no vehicle to replace it. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

As noted in my last report that I sent to you now my truck needs an engine because of a road knock. This is the second engine. It was changed in 2011 and I’ve been complaining about this and I wanted Chevy to do a pico test they refused to do it because they’re telling me it’s too old but the truck only 111842 miles on it As prior complaint coming back from Cape May, the truck stalled I toasted to the side and it took a long time for it to start back up and when it did, it started knocking real loud Now Chevy refuses to do anything about this. Maybe I could get some response out of you. Thank you for your help.

- #11762563September 7, 2026TIRES
the General Grabber HTS 255/70 R17 off a 2026 Chevy 1500 truck from factory with only 17k miles, has had multiple leaks from what appear to be the rubber itself cracking and no objects seem to be making the punctures. (this tire itself the main reason for this report has been repaired 4 times and now has its 5th leak) but at least 1 or more repairs have been made for 3 of the 4 tires as well as another chevy truck same year, model and tire from factory but only 1 of their tires has failed as of today. One of the tire punctures has leaked 5 psi within 1 mile distance. For obvious reasons of a tire going flat and so fast for no reason this can be extremely dangerous for the occupants of the vehicle as well as others that are on the same roadway,( locations to pull over, weather conditions IE icy roads and pos tire ruptures) The conditions have only been observed in the late spring, summer, and fall, they have not yet been seen in the winter, but is expected to fail more often as the cold with cause the tire to become more brittle and prone to more cracking. The Chevy truck TPMS does provided a fast and accurate tire pressure give the driver enough time to make decision on the best location to stop

2024 Silverado 3.0 Rst turbo replacement, followed by engine replacement at 80K miles. Advised the dealership about the transmission at about 85k miles. At 103,000 miles the transmission failed. GM is denying any responbility. This is already a known issue yet GM keeps denying it. Major saftey issue from the beggining of the purchase. Every complaint has been noted by the dealership.
