General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Cadillac XT5 and 2024-2025 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The instrument panel may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Controls and Displays" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment."
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024 Cadillac XT5 vehicles. The driver's front air bag cushion may tear during deployment, resulting in the air bag not deploying as intended.
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 GMC Acadia and 2024 Cadilac XT5 and XT6 vehicles. The windshield may have been assembled without the proper urethane sealant required to bond the windshield to the vehicle body.
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac XT6, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Blazer, Traverse, and 2022-2023 Cadillac XT5 vehicles. The transmission may have been built with an incorrect sun gear, which can result in the driver-side half-shaft disengaging from the transmission.
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac XT5 and GMC Acadia vehicles. The right-front half-shaft assemblies may be improperly connected to the transmission, causing them to separate.
Affected Component: Exterior Lighting - Left Rear LED Taillight / Turn Signal Assembly DESCRIPTION OF SAFETY CONCERN My 2020 Cadillac XT5 has developed an intermittent malfunction involving the left rear LED taillight and turn signal assembly. When the malfunction occurs, the vehicle displays a warning stating "Left Rear Turn Indicator Failure," accompanied by rapid flashing of the turn signal indicator. The malfunction occurs unpredictably. A visual inspection of the taillight assembly reveals no obvious damage or failed LEDs. My primary concern is vehicle safety. An intermittent malfunction of a rear turn signal may prevent motorists behind me from receiving a reliable indication of my intention to turn or change lanes, creating a potential collision hazard. There is also a significant secondary safety concern involving the vehicle's Driver Information Center (DIC). When the "Left Rear Turn Indicator Failure" warning appears, an unusually large notification occupies most of the central instrument display, obscuring the digital vehicle speed readout and other driver information normally displayed in that area. This creates an additional safety concern because the driver cannot readily see the digital speed reading while the warning is displayed. The notification may also distract the driver when it appears unexpectedly during operation. I have included a photograph documenting the warning and its obstruction of the instrument display. The repair is not covered under GM's factory warranty. Additionally, the third-party extended service contract purchased and provided by the selling Cadillac dealership denied coverage, classifying the problem as a bulb-related failure despite the vehicle using an integrated LED lamp assembly. The substantial replacement cost may discourage owners from promptly repairing a malfunction involving an important vehicle safety component.

My 2019 Cadillac XT5 has repeatedly shuddered at highway speeds since shortly after purchase on July 25, 2026. It occurs around 61–62 mph while maintaining speed before accelerating. The cause is UNKNOWN. The selling dealership evaluated the vehicle and performed a front-wheel alignment, but the shuddering persists. Its repair record states that technicians could not reproduce the shuddering during a test drive. A test drive with me was proposed to demonstrate when it occurs. The vehicle has also displayed a “Steering Assist Is Reduced—Drive With Care” warning and a check-engine light. The steering felt normal despite the warning; I am not claiming an actual loss of steering. The temperature gauge has remained on cold, and the air conditioning has malfunctioned. The exact date the steering warning first appeared is UNKNOWN. On October 21, 2026, another Chevrolet dealership documented diagnostic code P0128 and recommended thermostat/coolant-temperature-related repairs. Those repairs have not been performed. The manufacturer was contacted and declined repair assistance. Dealerships have inspected the vehicle; I am not aware of a separate inspection by the manufacturer. I am concerned about the persistent shuddering at highway speeds and the warning of potentially reduced steering assistance. The cause of the shuddering and its relationship, if any, to the other symptoms remain unconfirmed. I still have the vehicle. Repair records, diagnostic information, and photographs of warning messages are available.

The contact owns a 2018 Cadillac XT5. The contact stated that during a scheduled routine maintenance, the independent mechanic informed the contact that front driver's side CV axle was fractured and leaking grease and needed to be replaced. However, the part was on a national backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.

The vehicle has approximately 40,000 miles. The thermostat and/or coolant temperature sensor malfunctioned, causing the warning message “Steering Assist Is Reduced, Drive With Care” to appear. This condition raises a safety concern because the malfunction affects or appears to affect the vehicle’s steering-assist system and could make the vehicle more difficult to safely control. I believe this issue warrants investigation by NHTSA and consideration for a safety recall.

Sudden Engine Shutdown and Loss of Steering Assistance in Traffic — 2021 Cadillac XT5 While operating our 2021 Cadillac XT5 in traffic, the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly stopped running. The engine shut down, the instrument panel went dark except for a warning stating "Low Battery," and steering locked up. The emergency flashers would not work but blue-tooth did. The AC was working fine until shutdown but has not worked since. The car is still in the Cadillac dealership with no reasons given for the shutdown. The vehicle would not restart and was left immobilized in the middle of traffic, creating a serious risk of a collision. The "Low Battery" warning appeared only after the engine had stopped. There was no indication of a low-battery warning before the shutdown. A check of the vehicle's VIN showed no outstanding safety recalls. We are concerned that an electrical, engine-control, or power-distribution malfunction caused the sudden shutdown and loss of steering assistance. The exact cause has not yet been established. We request that NHTSA review this incident as a potential vehicle safety defect because an unexpected shutdown and loss of steering assistance in moving traffic creates a substantial risk to occupants and other motorists.
