STEERING, SUSPENSION
Received Recall notice (#N212340980), contacted several dealers and ALL said the same thing: if you did not purchase the car here, then appointments are six weeks out! Finally, went Tremonte Cadillac as they were kind enough to take the car in sooner; brought the car there and within fifteen minutes I was told "you are all set", thanked him and left. On the way home the "Service Rear Axle" message came back up again! Being the weekend I did not contact the dealer. The next day the light came back on and the vehicle information center would not display. Contacted the dealer and they said to bring the car back. The fact that the dealer is 45mins away, my difficult work schedule and being told the car can be driven, you just lose the AWD capability, I opted to wait till the fall. Also several attempts to contact Cadillac by phone, email and letters-with not one response! I am writing you at this time as we detected the car pulling to the right and loss of AWD system. The contact owns a 2011 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that the rear axle, suspension, park assist, and stability tract control warning indictor lights were illuminated. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle fishtailed. The contact called the local dealer. A multi-point inspection was provided by the dealer, who informed contact that the power steering and transmission lines were leaking. Additionally, a fuse was missing, the malfunction light illuminated and the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The check engine, ABS, traction control and an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number 21V473000 (Suspension). The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer however, no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 204,875.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
My headlights are so dim i cannot use my car at night. It started a while ago I have replaced the lights but they become dim and the moisture in the headlights is terrible it is so dangerous to drive my car at night i cannot move it once it is dark. I have searched and found that this is an ongoing issue not only in my 2011 model but all Cadillac and is a known issue that Cadillac refuses to take responsibility for. I received a letter during the high of COVID stating they would reimbursement if you had gotten it fixed but i got the letter in May and time to get the repair and the reimbursement had passed. live in NY and everything was shut down for quiet sometime so perhaps the letter was sent internationally at that time so i couldn't take advantage of the offer. My understanding is that it will be around $1600.00 to repair the headlights which i feel i should not have to bear after paying so much money for my car this is a manufacturer defect and they should bear the responsibility to correct and fix my car. I purchased my vehicle and paid 48K which wasn't cheap I should not have to pay additional out of pocket due to their poor workmanship and parts.

Headlight goes out after rain. Fogging and condensation can be seen, when headlight doesn't work. Takes several days to dry out and come on again. Headlight will cut off will driving if raining.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Master brake cylinder/ABS Hydraulic unit failed. I noticed that while driving my vehicle at 35mph coming to a stop I had to press or pump my brakes to come to a complete stop. One one instance I had to brake abruptly and the brakes failed (pressed to the floor) so I swerved onto the shoulder to not cause a rear end collision. There was no warning or anything, I took the car to the dealer and was told that it would cost me $1700 to repair and that the problem is wear and tear. After doing my research I'm now discovering that it is a known problem. Please do your research because THIS IS A SCARY situation.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
My headlight assembly have been taking in water for about a year. Last year I had to replace the ballast on one side. Last week we had a lot of rain and while driving home both of my headlights went out. I’ve looked up the problem online and found out I’m not alone. Cadillac did send me a notice last year about a settlement they made for similar issue but the notice they sent me stated it was for models with halogen bulbs. My vehicle has HID. I have called several dealerships and was told the part cost about $1400.00 each. I want to replace both sides. They say they don’t have both available. My guess is there’s a shortage because everyone has this problem. Cadillac should have been made responsible for selling this garbage. This is a safety and consumer problem. How can I drive my vehicle if I can’t even replace the part ?

This information is addition to the accident, that I reported few days ago. NHTSA tracking number 11458264. I was involved in car accident on highway I90. My car drove in to concreate barrier and was struck from back by another car. Air bag in my car did not deploy. My head hit steering wheel. I have broken nose. I will need surgery.

UNITS ONE, TWO, AND THREE WERE TRAVELING ON I-90 W/B. AT APPROXIMATELY MILEPOST 62.0 UNIT ONE TRAVELING IN LANE #3 (LANE #3, BEING THE THIRD LANE FROM THE MEDIAN WALL) LOST CONTROL, SPUN, AND STRUCK THE REAR DRIVER QUARTER PANEL OF UNIT TWO TRAVELING IN LANE #3. THE IMPACT FORCED FORWARD UNIT TWO INTO THE REAR OF UNIT THREE TRAVELING IN LANE #1. THEN UNIT TWO SPUN, DROVE OFF THE ROADWAY ONTO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND STRUCK THE CONCRETE BARRIER. THE DRIVERS HAD NO RECOLLECTIONS REFERENCING THE ACCIDENT. My car was nr.2 in police report. I hit concrete barrier and my airbags didn't deploy. Car is a total loss. not repairable. My head landed on steering will. I have fractures nasal bone and my cartilage was moved. I will need have a surgery. Other injury are lower back , knee and chest. SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On multiple occasions, when I have had to panic brake, either due to snowy weather conditions or when I had to brake hard while on the highway, the brake pedal loses pressure and I am barely able to stop for some time, thereafter. Later, the pressure returns to normal. I have taken the vehicle to the repair shop on multiple occasions, and the techs have been unable to reproduce the problem. This is a serious problem, and could lead to serious injury or death. Please issue a recall immediately and force the manufacturer to fix this. Thank you.

The contact owned a 2011 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45-50 MPH, another vehicle rear-ended his vehicle, causing his vehicle to crash into a concrete barrier. No air bags were deployed upon impact. The contact suffered a broken nose from hitting the steering wheel upon impact and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, then to a body shop where it was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. SERVICE BRAKES
My brake pedal has gone to the floor at random times while driving. When it happens, approx. the last 10% of pedal travel has limited braking power. After this occurs, the pedal will return back to normal, after a day or so. This situation occurs after the ABS system is activated during a hard stop, sliding on ice or snow, or when the ABS is triggered. I have seen reports on internet that indicate that this issue can be caused by the ABS control module (part no. 20842710) having internal valve/seal leak failure. The theory is, once the ABS is activated and diverts fluid to the wheels that have traction (still spinning), the ABS valves.chambers stick open. Problem is the part - module is currently unavailable throughout North America.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph and approaching traffic ahead the driver depressed the brake pedal to stop and the vehicle suddenly lost control, spun out, and drove into the opposite lane before two other vehicles crashed into it. During the crash, the vehicle was destroyed. The front passenger sustained a left shoulder injury which required medical treatment. No further injury information was available. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The VIN search confirmed that the NHTSA recall campaign 21v473000(suspension) was present. The contact believed the incident was related to the unrepaired recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
