SummaryTechnical Background Front brakes are squealing with light pedal at low speed. The noise is primarily in the 8 kHz range. Service Information Test drive the vehicle and verify the noise with an FFT plot. Low speed, light pedal squeal is most easy to duplicate when the brakes are cooling. Make sure to attach the FFT plot and relevant photographs to the PQIS job as outlined in the brake squeal ATI (Group 4 - 1801).

SummaryThe "transfer case" is designed as an active all-wheel drive system that is dynamically adapted to the respective driving state. Power transmission between the front and rear axle is controlled electronically via the "all-wheel drive servomotor (transfer case)" and themulti-plate clutches integrated in the transfer case. ? On all-wheel drive vehicles, the drive train can become strained at low speeds and when the steering is turned sharply when "Off-roadmode" is activated, depending on design. ? Under extreme conditions, the drive train can also become strained when "Off-roadmode" is deactivated. ? Customers with little experience with all-wheel drive vehicles can interpret this behavior as a fault, which in turn can result in incorrect diagnoses in the workshop. Remedial action: Customer complaint to be checked: ? Rough-running engine or ? thevehicle vibrates or ? theengine jerks under load/during acceleration.

SummarySubject: Intake valves and intake ports Information: Carboned-up valves in the engine can be reworked and cleaned using cleaning equipment. If there is a complaint about knocking combustion, e.g. during acceleration at high load, the condition of the intake valves and portsmust be checked before doing any other work. If the check shows that the intake valves and intake ports have carbon deposits and are dirty, they must be cleaned using the VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit. There should be no need to replace the components. Date of Introduction: The VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit can be ordered immediately for dealers. Remedial Action: The VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit is used for cleaning carboned-up intake valves and intake ports. Compressed air is used to spray a special granulatemixture into the intake port, where it loosens and removes carbon build-up. The dirty granulate is extracted during spraying using an industrial vacuum cleaner.

SummaryInformation: This document updates information previously published in EQ 1105, EQ 1105, and EQ 1401. To provide stable voltage and sufficient current throughout certain service operations, you should connect the vehicle to a battery charger (sometimes referred to as a power supply). However, you may experience ECU programming and coding issues if the chosen battery charger has insufficient power. Many workshop manuals currently advise use of a battery charger with a 40 or 70 A current rating. However, with the increasing current requirements of modern Porsche vehicles, we recommend a battery charger capable of producing a minimum current of 90 A.

SummarySymptom: Customers complain about disturbing noises coming from the footwell area on the driver's side while steering. Cause: The surface of the foam rubber seal in the sealing sleeves starts to wear and crumble due to high temperatures. This effect causes the reported noise. Remedial Action: In the event of a customer complaint on a vehicle that: * was produced before the date of introduction (June 02, 2016), replace the existing intermediate steering shaft with a new, modified intermediate steering shaft with felt ring, see Workshop Manual - Workshop Manual '482819 Removing and installing intermediate steering shaft', * was produced after the date of introduction (June 02, 2016) or was already replaced by the new type of intermediate steering shaft (with felt ring),

SummaryInformation: Due to an incorrect parameter set for both control units for PDCC, the PASM control unit can detect non-existent swaying of the chassis under certain driving conditions. As a result, the PDCC system is deactivated and the chassis is switched to Sportmode. If this happens, the yellow warning message "Chassis system fault - Visit workshop, Adapted driving permitted" will be displayed in the instrument cluster and the vehicle then permanently behaves like a chassis in Sport mode. Remedial Action: Re-program control units for PDCC using the PIWIS Tester with software version 36.000 (or higher) installed.

SummaryCustomer Concern: Certain vehicle systems have unwanted, unpredictable behavior. Technical Concern: The symptoms are difficult to diagnose. There may be multiple symptoms intermittently affecting multiple systems. Though this is not an exhaustive list, some common failure modes are: ? Start/stop issues ? Power windows not fully returning to the parked position after automatic preopening ? PCM audio stopping during a start/stop cycle Ultimately, the technician determines that low 12-volt battery voltage is the underlying root cause of the unwanted behavior. The technician corrects the battery?s low voltage. Consequently, the unwanted behavior ends.
