Summary
Some 2016-2017 Ford/Lincoln vehicles SYNC 3 may exhibit an intermittent blank screen. Check for SYNC software update under the OASIS Tab SYNC selection. If update is available refer to WSM, Section 415-00 and update APIM software. During the update process the SYNC status bar shows Updating System Software for approximately 30 minutes. After Installation Complete pop-up appears, remove USB flash drive and install into IDS tool to update Ford database. Perform a complete ignition cycle by turning the key off for 5 minutes which is critical for a successful installation. If no updates are available or blank screen is present after an update refer to WSM, Section 415-00 for diagnosis or SYNC 3 intermittent blank screen GSB for tips. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the SLTS manual.

Before performing normal diagnostics, reprogram the driver door module (DDM) to the latest calibration using the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) version 106.01 or higher. Connect the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or equivalent and check the AWD module for DTCs. If DTC U2008 is stored, then reprogram the AWD module to the latest level using IDS release 106.02 or higher. Summary
Some 2017 C-MAX/Fusion Hybrid/Energi and MKZ Hybrid vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P0071 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This DTC can be set after the vehicle is stored inside a warm location for several hours and then driven on a cold day. Under these conditions the PCM may see a temperature sensor concern when it first compares the ambient air temperature (AAT) sensor to other engine temperature sensors and set the DTC. Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) release 104.04 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com.

The root cause of the low battery condition must be identified and corrected before addressing DTC P068A. Refer to Powertrain Control Emissions Diagnosis Manual (PC/ED) for further diagnosis. Review OASIS for other battery drain related messages.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET WHEN ENTERING MODULE PROGRAMMING TO OBTAIN THE LATEST UPDATES. CALIBRATION FILES MAY ALSO BE OBTAINED AT WWW.MOTORCRAFTSERVICE.COM.
