Customer may report hearing creaking or squeaking noise from the steering column when steering slowly (the noise can be duplicated while the vehicle is stationary if the steering wheel is turned slowly). The noise may get louder at higher temperatures or when the vehicle is driven for a longer period of time. The noise comes from the sealing sleeve/steering column opening on the bulkhead. Listen to the attached audio file for example of the noise. Insufficient lubrication of the intermediate steering shaft in the area of the sealing sleeve.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 13-19 dated May 23, 2013. The light bulb warning light is displayed in the instrument cluster with the ?Vehicle lights: malfunction? message. DTCs are stored in the vehicle electrical system control module. Exterior lights are functioning properly. If the headlight switch is moved to an intermediate position and remains there, the light bulb warning light and the error message appear after approximately ten seconds. Once displayed, the message turns off after approximately five seconds. The light bulb warning light turns off only after the headlight switch is turned to a defined position, and the status of DTC 03280 or DTC 01800 are changed to sporadic. After 40 driving cycles without an implausible signal detected, the DTCs are automatically cleared.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 13-87 dated March 27, 2013. The door cannot be opened from outside with the outer door handle, but it can be opened with the inner handle. The complaint is often described as follows: The customer locks the vehicle and checks by pulling the door handle whether the vehicle is locked. When opening the vehicle again, the door cannot be opened. It feels as if the handle is slack. When fitting the Bowden cable from the mounting bar to the door lock, the cable can get kinked. In some cases, this can increase the inner friction of the strand in the Bowden cable. As a result, the door lock stays in pressed position or does not completely return to its zero position. When the Bowden cable gets twisted during the installation, the rubber grommets can get distorted. Consequently, the Bowden cable has a too-high inner friction and the door lock does not move to the zero position.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 12-32 dated August 2, 2012. Wheel bolt requires torque adjustment. Torque sticks, torque extension bars, and impact guns/wrenches are not approved by Audi of America, Inc., and should not be used to apply torque to wheel bolts. Always use a calibrated torque wrench to attain the correct wheel bolt torque and follow the proper wheel tightening procedure as outlined in Elsa. Proper use of a calibrated torque wrench ensures that all wheel bolts are tightened equally and reduces the chances of repeat repairs. Using methods other than a calibrated torque wrench to attain correct wheel bolt torque may lead to problems.

SummaryThe customer reports hearing a rattling or knocking noise when the car is driven over bumps or uneven road surfaces. The noise is noticed after the car has been driven for a while and is warmed-up, and when the temperature outside is warm. The condition can be duplicated if the brakes are applied while the car is driven over bumps. High ambient temperatures at the hydraulic guide links cause the noise.
